For Major Depressive Disorder "Was started on Wellbutrin 150 mg for one month. Made me sleep and eat less but did nothing for my depression, so my doctor increased it to 300 mg. Within 3 to 4 days of the increase, I was having panic attacks and couldn't stop crying. Depression kicked into overdrive immediately."

For Depression "I started on Lexapro, which worked at first for me, then, a month later, made me feel like a zombie because I was so drowsy. So, my doctor started me on 200 mg of Wellbutrin a day. The first few days were fine, and then after about a week, the crazy suicidal thoughts started. Then came the mood swings and short fuse. After 2 weeks of this medication, I couldn't stand anyone around me or even myself. I didn't want to be talked to or even looked at, I felt depressed, life wasn't worth anything. So, my doctor changed me to Prozac 20 mg, and so far, it seems to be a good fit."

For Depression "I'm in my mid 30s and took Wellbutrin for the last 6 weeks for depression and ADD. I was shaky since the beginning (although not as bad as I was in the beginning), the entire time I'd feel my legs would give out. I was always sleepy and lazy with a why bother attitude for everything. My mind would still wander, but it would be blank. I started forgetting things I've always known, like my zip code. It started affecting me at work. I called my doctor, who said my symptoms weren't from the Wellbutrin but from the other meds I'm on. I stopped taking the Wellbutrin yesterday, I already have more energy, I'm noticeably less shaky (my boss noticed), I'm more focused. I feel better than I have in a long time. Don't take Wellbutrin, it'll just mess you up."

For Depression "I have been on 150 XL and feel horrible. It's almost like I'm tripping on LSD. Foggy head, angry, cranky, and very irritable. Heart palpitations, and it makes me very lethargic. Dr. recommended taking it at night, and it's a tiny bit better. I want to stick with it to see if it gets me to a better emotional state, but don't know if I can last. How long before I start feeling better?"

For Depression "My daughter suffered from depression and anxiety and had tried SSRIs. We thought this might help give her more energy and feel better since it affects dopamine. However, over the summer, her anxiety got worse. At college, her anxiety got even worse. She became paranoid and even started hearing voices. She ate very little and slept very little. She stopped going to classes and had suicidal thoughts. She called me and said she felt constantly 'jittery,' so I told her to get off the drug. Basically, it increased her energy and made her mood much worse. I don't recommend this for someone who suffers from anxiety since it affects norepinephrine - the fight or flight response."

For Depression "At first, it seemed to help a lot. My depression lightened up, I felt motivated to do daily things: cook, clean, and hobbies I like. But then I felt suicidal thoughts ran rampant, and it was scary. I knew that I had to stop taking this medication, so I did."

For Depression "I asked my doctor if we could try something different as I was on Effexor, and the sexual side effects were kind of rough on a newlywed. He prescribed Wellbutrin. Not only did I rapidly taper off Effexor, but the Wellbutrin sent me into a manic state where all I did was clean, yell, and cry. I had panic attacks all the time. Wellbutrin will definitely not help with anxiety."

For Depression "I went on Wellbutrin some time ago, so I don't remember the dose. I had tried at least 4 SSRIs and didn't get much relief from my depression, mostly a lessening of morbid thoughts. The problem was that all of them, without exception, made me very drowsy. So my shrink suggested Wellbutrin. I was on it for about 3 months. At first, it seemed to make me much better-certainly no drowsiness-but after a while, I got quite depressed again. Finally, I stopped, and to my amazement, the very next day I felt substantially better! I knew my depression wasn't cured, but I knew for sure that Wellbutrin had made me worse."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Took for three days. Immediately developed a craving for cigarettes. The next day I started to feel out of sorts and a stabbing pain in my heart. Stopped immediately, but the other drugs I took after that made me even worse. Not recommended at all."

For Depression "Didn't work. I was given it on top of Remeron. It helps in a way. But I needed some energy boost. Hoping Wellbutrin would work. All my anxiety and suicidal thoughts hit me like a truck. Had to discontinue taking."

For Depression "I've been taking Wellbutrin 150 SR every morning for 3 weeks now. I was on Zoloft for quite a while and experienced sexual side effects. I was willing to try something different, and Wellbutrin seemed to have a good history of not affecting sexual drive. I've continued to go downhill since starting the Wellbutrin. I have no energy, feel the need to withdraw from interaction with people, feel unsteady at times, have depressing thoughts, and feel moments of sadness and start crying. I can't wait to be weaned off this."

For Depression "One week on 100 mg, week two on 200 mg, halfway into the third week, diarrhea, feeling hungover, only sleeping 3 to 4 hours a night, horrible anxiety like something bad is going to happen. Getting angry at just about anything. This medication isn't for me."

For Depression "Came off Celexa - I had absolutely no sex drive. They told me Wellbutrin had the least amount of sexual side effects. Well, first 3 days I started with 1 time a day, 150 mg. I started to get migraines that would make me nauseous. Called the doctor, they told me it was probably from coming off of Celexa, so after 3 days, changed to twice a day dosing as directed! BAD IDEA. I could not open my eyes around light, it would make my head hurt so bad that I would start throwing up. Also couldn't eat, lost 5 lbs. Continued hoping it would go away, but it got WORSE, started not being able to breathe and my heart was beating really fast. Almost went to the ER. So the next day I took 1 pill and the next day stopped, symptoms went away!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I am going to be as fair as I can be. As we can carefully repeat that not every medicine will work for everyone. But what I can tell you is that this medicine did nothing for me. Instead, it made my anxiety shoot through the roof, to the point where I thought I was being watched and stalked by law enforcement. I was deathly afraid of them taking me away, for what reason, I have no clue. It made me land in the psych ward. I would perspire in generous amounts! I would feel extremely guilty of past wrongdoings (even the most minor thing I've done wrong in my life would be the topic of debate in my head). I wish you all a happy healing and good luck on your search."

For Depression "I have been on Wellbutrin for 2 weeks now. I am not sure if it just isn't working or if it is actually making things worse. Crying, sleepless, anxious, restless. Don't know whether I should quit taking it or not. Doctor is on vacation this week, will see him the following week. Was on Effexor for about 3 years. It worked great for me, but somehow I decided I didn't need it anymore, within a month, I realized I was wrong. Tried going back on it, but it caused horrible side effects."

For Depression "I'm shocked to see not a single negative review listed. The first day taking Wellbutrin after drinks with a friend (not advisable), we had a bad fight, my anger was uncontrollable. The next day, I had a fight with my roommate, I was absorbed in rage, completely unaware of others' feelings. That week, I was stuck in my head, angry, charged, paranoid, and isolated. A week later, I had a terrible fight with my roommate resulting in a bad physical altercation, cops were called, and the next day she moved out. The next day, I was extremely depressed and indifferent. I stopped taking it. Maybe I didn't give it time. Don't want to discourage others, but if you have irritability/anger issues, be very aware and cautious."

For ADHD "Been on it for almost 2 weeks. Feels like nothing's getting better. Used to be a caffeine addict, stopped that, but now I have insomnia from this. Still have trouble waking up, getting motivated. My heart races and this puts me in a careless and out-of-it mood and I want to try something else."

For Bipolar Disorder "I had tried Zoloft in the past, went off because I was feeling better. Many years later, needed something again. Went back on Zoloft - it did nothing. Tried it in combo with Wellbutrin - nothing. Tried just the Wellbutrin - nothing... except a 25-pound weight gain. Everyone says you lose weight on Wellbutrin... uh... not so much! I gained 25 lbs in spite of barely eating and taking up running... AND... it made me sweat ALL THE TIME. It did nothing for my mood, but the side effects were completely depressing. P.S. the weight did NOT come off after I quit taking it. My guess is it damaged my already slow metabolism."

For ADHD "I have ADHD as well as epilepsy. I have taken just about everything for ADHD, and with my seizure history, I have no clue as to why this was prescribed to me. (Actually, it was new, I got samples.) Mildly stimulating, but in the wrong part of the brain for ADHD. I had seizures and got off it when I found out it caused seizures in people who aren't epileptic."
