For Depression "I tried this “med,” and it did not have any effects at all. If any, it just started giving me anxiety attacks to the point I just had to stop taking it. Never worked for me."

For Depression "I like my GP, but I think they were a bit hasty to prescribe the Wellbutrin for me before I started therapy, which begins in 5 days. This was supposed to be an interim measure to help me cope with a severe depression from my last child leaving home. I am a dad, and it really has been terrible. I have always been highly sensitive. I have been on this for 4 days, and I will not take another. This stuff is dangerous if not correctly prescribed. I think it can lead to severe psychosis. That is what happened to me last night. It took every ounce of willpower I have to pull myself out of an episode which I can't even describe. Scared the living daylights out of me. USE WITH EXTREME CAUTION!"

For Depression "After coming off Effexor, I tried Wellbutrin. I was on it for 3-4 weeks and felt like I was jumping out of my skin. I had horrible racing thoughts and couldn’t put a sentence together. This drug was not the drug for me."

For Depression "Made me very irritable and gave me deeper depression whenever I took the medicine. Also kept me up late at night and didn’t help my depression at all. Quit cold turkey and am doing much better now. Best to stay away unless you seriously need treatment."

For Depression "I was prescribed 75 mg Wellbutrin 2x per day. I've only been on this for about 2 weeks, and the side effects are awful. Insomnia, total brain fog, can't remember mid-sentence what I was even talking about, killed my ability to climax (I also take Lexapro 20 mg, which killed my libido), massive panic attacks, severe agitation and mood swings, and irrational thinking. I'm so sad because I really wanted this med to work, but the cons outweigh the pros 100%. Good luck to everyone!"

For Depression "Started taking Wellbutrin for depression and anxiety, and it has been awful! Started on 150 mg for the first three days, then went up to 300 mg. This was the worst thing to take if you have anxiety associated with your depression. I've always had anxiety, but not this bad! It made it so much worse, and I was paranoid, having panic attacks, and couldn't sleep. I will never take this again and do NOT recommend this at all."

For Depression "Wellbutrin gave me gastroparesis! I took it for 2 months. It helped a little bit with the depression, more than most meds I've tried, but I stopped taking it due to horrible constipation. Even after I quit taking it, I kept getting sicker and sicker. I got diagnosed with gastroparesis about a year later. Turns out gastroparesis can be caused by dopamine agonists. It's been 1.5 years since I started taking Wellbutrin, and I still have gastroparesis. I can't eat any of my favorite foods anymore, and it's really difficult to get the nutrition I need on such a limited diet. I might have this condition for life. The side effects are absolutely not worth the benefits of this medication!"

For Depression "This did not work, if anything, it made me feel worse. My anxiety was out of this world, and my depression got worse as well. I was on Lexapro 20 mg and hoped for a change. Well, I was hoping this would work, but it did not. I was on the verge of feeling I was losing my marbles. I hope for others it will help. Back to Lexapro 20 mg."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This was the only anti-depressant that I've taken that actually made me worse. Most of the others, Zoloft, Lexapro, Cymbalta, Prozac, either helped a tiny bit or not at all, but never worse. Wellbutrin raised my anxiety sky high. I'm sure it may not be the case for others, but I wanted to share my experience. Good luck to anyone who does try this."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Wellbutrin almost killed me, and I now have grand mal seizures and have been diagnosed with epilepsy that I will have for the rest of my life. I seriously think this drug should be pulled from the shelves. I know two people who tried to commit suicide while taking this medication. Wellbutrin has ruined my life, and I would never suggest this medication to anyone."

For Depression "I experienced most of the side effects, thankfully, I didn’t have a seizure. I’ve been off a few days and am still having side effects. Made my heart race, chest hurt, chest pressure, dry mouth, and forgetting everything. This medicine, did however, help my depressed laziness. I had the get up and go and wanted this med to work because it gave me that. My chest still feels like a hippo is sitting on it."

For Depression "I want to preface this by saying that I'm sure this drug has a different effect on everyone. This is only my experience. I started it 14 days ago and had to stop this morning. This is a very powerful medication. I didn't notice the medication for 5 days, and my depression suddenly became significantly worse. My short-term memory has also been affected. I will forget something that I did seconds earlier. I noticed that my hearing became much more sensitive, and everything became very loud. I still feel like I'm in a cloud. I understand that it will take 24 to 48 hours or more to finally get out of my system. Oh, you won't sleep either. Maybe some positive effects of the medication would have appeared if I had stayed on longer. I couldn't take it anymore. I hope that your experience isn't like this and that you can get some help. Use this medication with caution."

For Depression "If you suffer from anxiety, racing uncontrollable thoughts, high anxious states, and basically need a med to calm you down and get your thoughts under control, I would really talk to my doctor before starting this med. It is very clear that this is an energy-producing medication, so for those of us with anxiety - that can be really bad. A common listed side effect is 'anxiety' & 'anxiousness.' Everyone is different and will have different results to some extent. This is primarily a med for depression - NOT anxiety. So again, be clear to your doctor if you have anxiety with your depression that other choices may be better."

For Depression "Every time my wife is prescribed this med, she becomes aggressive and ignores facts. She stops interacting with me and seeks distance. This poison is ruining a 40-year marriage and destroying our family. When she stops taking it, she slowly returns to her normal self, but her Dr. convinces her she needs it, and the cycle starts all over again. Bad drug for some."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Wellbutrin ruined my life. I went from 220 lbs. down to barely 100. I cannot eat. I am literally rotting away. It enlarged my prostate, and now I feel like I'm carrying around a grapefruit. It also increased my libido to the point of being completely frustrating."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This is for anxiety/major depressive disorder and BPD. The side effects suck. Since I've been on Wellbutrin, I've had severe dizzy spells and severe insomnia where I stay up all night and get 2-5 hours of sleep in the morning, on good days. My appetite suppression is not as extreme as other medications I've been on, but I have lost 5 pounds on it. I like eating, so I don't like that. I had my first self-harm episode, and it had been over a year, and it was over something insignificant that happens all the time. It gave me depression. I personally haven't experienced a good thing about this med, but I'm giving it another month or two to work. I'm hopeful."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was prescribed Wellbutrin 2x a day after Celexa stopped working after being on it 5 years. Within a few days of taking the Wellbutrin, my anxiety was back, and depression was worse. Had trouble staying asleep because my mind was constantly racing. Definitely did not work for me."

For Depression "My depressive thoughts and ideation increased a lot within 2 weeks of starting. I called my Dr. and tapered the dosage, and they ordered extra small doses so my body would not be shocked. If you feel like you are having increased depression daily after starting this medication, please contact your medical team and ask to taper off."

For Depression "I had experienced a very traumatic event and was prescribed this medication, Wellbutrin, at 150 mg for three days, then 300 mg every day but at separate times. Within a week, I could feel a strange feeling like I couldn't stop thinking about just what I was seeing and how miserable I felt. A few days later, I hit the lowest point in life. Soon afterward, I was experiencing some suicidal thoughts. Had to take a benzo to relax, and it went away. Never taking that again. I was on it only 2 weeks."

For Depression "I've been taking bupropion, 1 pill, 150 mg once a day for anxiety and depression for a month, and it hasn't really been working. I feel the same way. The first day, I felt that it limited my brain somehow, but that was all. And I find myself not being able to sleep at all at night ever since I started taking it. I've been sleeping 2-3 hours. Maybe I should take a higher dose or change medication."
