For Major Depressive Disorder "Wellbutrin is probably the best antidepressant on the US market. It's best to start at > 75 mg a day to make sure you can tolerate it; there are many for whom this medicine does nothing or causes anxiety or other health problems. Regardless of what they say, do check your liver and kidneys; it is more non-toxic than a lot of drugs, but it does take a toll on your body over time. For me, nothing as of yet."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I’ve suffered from pretty severe major depressive disorder and anxiety since I can remember, diagnosed since I was 18 (now 25). Tried Prozac, Zoloft, Effexor, Lexapro, and none really helped me escape the deep hurt I felt 24/7. About 16 months ago, I started taking this drug, building up to 300 mg XL over a 2-week time span. That was a pretty horrific time if I’m being honest - manic, crawling out of my own skin, couldn’t sleep at all. But then my doctor added 100 mg of Seroquel at night for my sleep. Over the next 3 months, I felt myself lift out of the darkness a little. She also added an anti-anxiety (Klonopin). Wellbutrin didn’t solve my depression, but it definitely did help save my life. If you’re just trying it out for the first time, try to get past the bad side effects in the beginning if you can. It’s been worth it for me anyways. Long-term side effects have been anxiety, reduced appetite, memory loss, restlessness, nausea, and some confusion/disorientation."

For Depression "I was clinically diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and an adjustment disorder in the middle of last year. Now that I started school again at 37, the stress of everything and finding out that I may possibly have ADD or ADHD makes everything so much better. I was initially put on Wellbutrin 150 mg a day alongside my 15 mg of Lexapro. My Wellbutrin was bumped up to 300 mg to help me quit dipping. For a while, things were finally going well. I didn’t touch a can of dip for about two months. Then the realization of everything kicked in. Between working full time, going to school for biomedical equipment technology full time, and a girlfriend who drives me crazy sometimes, my anxiety, stress, and everything else have gone through the roof. I am now on 450 mg of Wellbutrin and still alongside my 15 mg of Lexapro. Hopefully, this helps."

For Depression "I’ve been on Wellbutrin for almost 2 weeks now for depression. I’m giving it a seven out of 10 because I used to cry every day when I woke up, drove to work, drove home, and before bed. Now I don’t cry at all, in fact, I actually feel peaceful. Is this how normal people feel? I used to drink coffee multiple times a day, and now I don’t even crave it. I also used to smoke marijuana here and there to stop crying at night. And I haven’t had the urge. Anyways, I’m worried about the whole anxious thing, sometimes I find myself not focused at work and sometimes feel overwhelmed. But I’m going through a terrible breakup, so I don’t know if it’s the depression or the pill. I’ve also lost a lot of weight, which I’m not mad about. I don’t crave junk or carbs. I don’t feel sad anymore. I guess I would say I feel kind of numb/peaceful. I’d rather feel numb than the horrible, painful, depressing feeling I used to feel every day, I would feel worthless. Let’s hope the anxiety goes down!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "Was put on this after I went to the psych ward for suicidal thoughts and general depression. Before this, I was on Prozac for 3 weeks, stopped taking it due to increased anxiety and extreme binge eating that I never had before. After that, my doc switched me to 20 mg Celexa. Took that on and off for over a year... it helped slightly with anxiety but quickly became as effective as taking sugar pills. I started on the generic SR, 2 a day, and with that, I had slight ringing in the ears, some random panicky feelings. But my mood had improved tremendously, plus my sex drive went way up after just 1 day! My appetite control is great. On 300 mg XL generic now, and side effects are subsiding. Had worries about seizures, but that's rare. 0.3% incidence."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been taking this medication for about 2 weeks now. I got prescribed it in the hospital after a fallout. I tried Prozac while in high school and had no luck with it. Then was prescribed Zoloft a few months ago and obviously didn't work, considering landing myself in the hospital. Now trying Wellbutrin. Even though I have just started it, I'd say that I do see some positive effects in it. I have more motivation and am trying to do better for myself. But I do have some side effects including really bad headaches, ringing in ears, insomnia, dizziness at times, with nausea. I also have noticed that taking Excedrin to suppress the headaches doesn't help but makes my anxiety increase. Don't take a dose late either as that just increases mood swings."

For Depression "I started taking this a week ago, I think. I never wanted to use meds, but I'm in the middle of a major depressive episode that began around mid-late October. I'm a single mom of a 4-year-old. I feel like she takes more care of me than I can of her sometimes, and that makes me feel awful. I decided to ask my doctor to do something because I figured nothing could feel worse. Day 1, I had a lot of energy, days 2-4, I was very anxious and irritable over nothing. That has now passed, but I still don't feel better, not really. I don't feel overwhelmed with the feeling of wanting to die, so I guess that's good, but I still feel it. I'm not suicidal, though I have been in years. I just don't want to move out of my bed, clean the house, or do anything really."

For Depression "I'm on day three. 150 mg. Today I experienced anxiety about two hours after taking it. It lasted 25 minutes, and I went for a walk. After the walk, I felt better. I have never taken anything before, but I'm 46, and for the last year, I've changed. Maybe age, but I've lost my patience and have a sugar addiction. Haven't been sleeping. Now, three days in. Slept well the last three nights... less desire for sugar. Less angry and able to recover aggressive behavior. Anyway, I'm hoping to slim down and be the laid-back person I've always been before menopause started."

For Depression "Recently I retired from public safety. I should have been happy and content to have a lot of free time. My friends all said I looked rested and better than I had in years. What they did not know is how depressed I was and how much I missed the work and my work friends. Reluctantly my doctor prescribed Bupropion HCL 150 mg for seven days then 300 mg daily in the AM. After the first day, I was already feeling better. I just finished the first two weeks and I'm feeling so much better. Occasionally I still have negative thoughts. Side effects include anxiety and an elevated BP. I'm happy with the results and believe the medication has taken me away from the edge. I will post updates periodically."

For Panic Disorder "Today is my second day, and I feel okay. I am in transition from Celexa to Wellbutrin XL. I take Wellbutrin XL 150 mg in the morning and Celexa 10 mg in the evening. The only main noticeable side effects are I am a little anxious, and I have stomach cramps. They are not terrible, though. I expect to have some transition period. I know it sounds crazy, but I lost 1 pound in the 1st day I took it. Celexa put 10-15 lbs on me that I cannot take off, even with exercise. I will keep you updated!"

"I took a dosage of Wellbutrin 150 mg in delayed-release tablets for years. The drug improves motivation, improves overall function and agility of action, and therefore indirectly reduces some anxious thoughts and, on the other hand, seems to increase physical anxiety symptoms. A good cure for depression that includes anxiety and less good for anxiety is primary. Does not cause obesity or impaired libido."

For Depression "I have mixed reviews of this medication. This made me extremely hyper, as if I had 13 cups of coffee, jittery, made my heart beat super fast. I was doing mindless tasks around the house and out of the house, like organizing carts and stuff in the grocery store. It made me happier, but then when it wore off, I had intense anger beyond imaginable. I loved how energetic it made me feel. Oh, and it made my libido skyrocket."

"Wellbutrin 150 mg 1x daily for anxiety and ADHD. 1st 4 days I felt cracked out. Jittery in waves, no appetite, a little floaty, more focus but I had to be doing something. Day 5 I'm hungry but I would be okay if I didn't eat. Not jittery anymore. I feel okay. I'm going to wait until 8 weeks to make a decision if it actually helps or not."

For Depression "Best antidepressant I've ever taken, and the only one that balances out my brain chemicals while allowing me to feel like myself. I wasn't serious about taking it pre-COVID, but after the pandemic, I became very depressed. I went to my doctor who put me back on Wellbutrin, and within the first hour of taking it, it felt like a light switched on in my brain. I scoffed down my food, went home and cleaned up, submitted my job applications, and fell asleep early. The next three months with it were magical. But let me tell you, medication is NOT the only way to solve your problems. I began to relapse after 4 months because I had a lot going on. You have to make life changes. I finally did and got off of them, but I lost motivation in my interests. Just got back on them yesterday, and I feel a difference, although not as drastic as when I took it after the pandemic. I might want to increase the dosage. This drug may also increase anxiety."

For Depression "I have found Wellbutrin to be the best for me. I've tried Zoloft, Lexapro, Cymbalta, Adderall, Vyvanse, Prozac, and Strattera. These others made me too agitated or too zombie-like. No dry mouth, no jaw clenching, no yawning, no RLS, no anxiousness, no headaches with Wellbutrin/Bupropion. Feel uplifted, more my old self, laugh and love easier, and anxiety a bit better. Less achy too! My long-term memory has even improved. I don't mind the vivid dreams, kind of fun. I do have some side effects which make me wish and plead for a lower dosage to be available. I'm taking 150 XL here in the USA. I really wish they'd make a 75 XL for sensitive types like me. I often get into a hyperfocus mode with this dosage of Wellbutrin. I can get a ton of reading done, internet research, etc., but then procrastinate things of higher priority. Please, manufacturers, please offer 75 XL as well. I think you'd be helping a ton of people."

For Depression "Just starting this med. The first couple days, I didn’t think it was doing much, but I noticed I couldn’t sleep for very long. I wasn’t as hopelessly sad as I had been the week prior, but I was experiencing an array of stomach-related side effects (constipated until I was very much no longer constipated, bloating, stomach aches, and VERY nauseous the first night). Fast forward a few days, I still can’t sleep very much. I’m artificially active is the best way to describe it. I’ve been pretty inactive throughout the pandemic, but I walked to get iced coffee in 90-degree heat, cleaned my apartment, had people over, then went to the gym later because I was so jittery and couldn’t sit still. It also has given me quite a bit of anxiety and some irritability alongside the constant need to be active. I hope that over the next few days, the anxious thoughts, stomach issues, and insomnia calm down."

For Depression "Started Wellbutrin in June of 2020. At first, I was skeptical because I had tried Zoloft and Cipralex before it, and they both didn't work. But Wellbutrin has done wonders for my confidence and happiness. The first few weeks were pretty rough, but then I started to feel better. I can honestly say that it has saved my life. Only side effects for me are teeth clenching at night, some ear ringing, and sometimes I feel more anxious at times. But it is truly amazing for my depression."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Give this medication a fighting chance! I almost quit a month in, but I am SO glad I didn’t and toughed out the negative side effects. When I started, I felt dazed and sedated but wired and jittery at the same time. My insomnia was horrible. Other side effects I experienced included tinnitus, horrible anxiety, hand tremors, heart palpitations, and a really short temper. I desired nothing, but had the energy to do everything - weird combo. OKAY, now for the GOOD, and things I think people should know before giving up this medication - the side effects last a LONG time (two and a half months for me) but they DO all go away. I was now able to get up early to work out, got into cooking, lost weight, and felt hopeful about life. Sex also got WAY better now that I could stop living in my head, which was a huge plus. For the first time in a long time, I can really say I feel happy. So give it time!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "My psychiatrist put me on Wellbutrin 75 mg once a day to start with, and after 7 days I went up to 2 times a day. Before I started to take it, I couldn’t get out of bed because of my depression. My energy levels were at almost zero. The Wellbutrin has helped me tremendously. I actually have energy to get out of bed and live my life. The side effects are constipation and loss of appetite. In the past, it gave me severe anxiety, which is why my psychiatrist started me at a very low dose, and it’s actually helped."

For Depression "I started taking generic Bupropion XL 150 mg once a day 8 days ago. The anxiety and depression I was feeling were paralyzing me from moving in any direction. I tried every natural option I could research. On day 1, I felt different, motivated, and better immediately. In the days following, side effects started. Heart palpitations, anxiety, fear of everything, nightmares, a rash on my neck, eye twitching, staring into space thoughtless, unable to make decisions, fear of leaving the house. Day 8, and I’m feeling much more at peace. I’m more focused on myself than issues I have with others. No insomnia and feeling less tolerant of binge drinking to calm down. I want to exercise, clean my house, set goals, eat clean foods, and I feel everything is going to be okay. My self-confidence is improved, and orgasms unaffected. I am hopeful that Wellbutrin was exactly what I needed to be the healthy person I need to be, no matter what happens in my life. I just needed a boost and reset."

For Depression "Probably saved my life. This is the first antidepressant I tried as I was scared of some of the nasty side effects of the SSRIs (sexual, weight gain, tiredness). I was on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg for 1-2 months and then have been on 300 mg XL for 3 months now. Getting on it was a little strange, as I had some side effects of anxiety at first, but actually have not had a panic attack since starting. Just know that it doesn't really help with anxiety/OCD symptoms (but I've been going to therapy for that). Really made me motivated to get work done (never been the case for me) without that craziness feeling from Adderall. Very consistently good mood and makes me want to be alive. Also increased sex drive + motivation for exercise is a plus."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been off and on this medication for about 8 years. I originally started it to help me quit smoking (which worked wonders for me, I was able to quit) and later was put back on it for seasonal depression disorder. It helps me a lot with depression, especially as it worsens in the winter. Side effects I experience are increased anxiety, heart palpitations, increased heart rate. I've been on 300 mg (150 mg twice a day) before, and my anxiety was horrible. If you're on a higher dose and suffer with anxiety, you may want to try a lower dose. I currently take 150 mg a day, and it's very helpful. It gives you that spark of motivation you need in the mornings."
