For Opioid Use Disorder "I have tried Suboxone and methadone, but Subutex is by far the best! It saved my life. I was addicted to H for about 10 years, and I got a doctor to prescribe me Subutex and watch me closely, along with weekly drug tests. And I have been the most clean ever in 10 years. I can walk with my head held high now. Feels real good to be normal again!"

For Chronic Pain "My experience was not good. I had never had as much back pain and hip pain as I experienced with Subutex. 18 mg daily. For a year. Of course, the doctor had to make his $200 a month, so he made me believe it was my weight and insisted on me staying on it. Well, I disagree respectfully. I lost enjoyment in life. I got very depressed. Gained a lot of weight. So when they called to remind me of my appointment (like I would forget), I said, “I won’t be coming back.” The receptionist couldn’t believe it. 15 minutes later, I got a call from the PA telling me how dangerous it was to stop. Well, I jumped off of 8 mg, and 3 weeks later, I’m free and feel great with no pain. Subutex isn’t for everyone, I guess. And I love being able to handle my anxiety now and get other scripts that I actually need. Consider stopping, don’t let them make you afraid because you are strong."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I am currently on Subutex and have been for almost 2 years. Like many others have said, it is a great medicine to be on if you really want to quit your habits. It can be a long process for some, and for others, it may take not long at all. Some people use it for pain management. But I myself have done good on this medicine. It's been such a long road for me, like I'm sure it has for the rest of you. I am now finally getting down to such a low amount and soon should be free from Subutex. I know my addiction will always be there, but with the right help, I can stay clean!"

For Opioid Use Disorder "After taking pain relievers every day for years, I would be taking them just to avoid withdrawal. I literally woke up every day with withdrawal, and even if I wanted to stop, I couldn’t because I was so afraid of withdrawal. I was prescribed Subutex 8 mg twice a day. I was so scared it wouldn’t work or would have bad side effects, but I finally did it. I woke up with withdrawal as usual, and even though I was nervous and scared, I took the Subutex, and it worked! Totally stopped my withdrawal completely within a few minutes, the same or even better than if I had taken a Percocet. This is literally a miracle drug. I am still amazed at how well it works, absolutely zero withdrawal and absolutely zero bad side effects. I know how scared you are about going through withdrawal, but with this unbelievable drug Subutex, you can stop taking painkillers with no withdrawal. It’s really amazing. I hope this helps someone one day."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I am 59 years old, and after an accident about 11 years ago, I was put on 10/325 Percocets till my surgery. I had a very active life (big job, friends, parties, etc.) and started to abuse the Percocets by taking too many a day. I also used to do a lot of cocaine but always had it under control. A completely different story with the Percocets. Once I figured out that I was addicted, I was put on Suboxone and then Subutex. A few years ago, I tried to get off, and it was a nightmare, and I failed. I am now on a maintenance dose of 8 mg and pretty much know that I will be on it till they put the lid on me. Bottom line is you are trading one addiction for another without getting high. That's the ugly truth!"

For Opioid Use Disorder "I've been on Subutex for 5 years. I am now being tapered. I've been tapered 1 whole tablet in less than a month. I am trying my best to take care of my newborn and toddler. I have nobody at all that will help me with them so that I can come off. That's making me have panic attacks, severe depression, and anxiety. Does anybody have any helpful advice?"

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have been taking pills since 1997, started with Vicodin and graduated to heroin, Roxicodone, and OxyContin. Been to prison twice because of my addiction. Came home, stayed clean a year, then started again. In August 2010, I was eating 100 30mg Roxicodone a day. It's hard to believe but true. I went to a doctor, and he put me on Subutex, 4 a day, down to 1/4 a day in a 5-day period. Felt okay but a little chilly, cold. This is a miracle medicine for anyone who is using. Please try it."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I’m 34 years old and have had issues with opiates since I was 19. Stayed clean for 6 years after a long and painful withdrawal from methadone that left me feeling like rubbish for 6 months after acute withdrawal symptoms had ended. Relapsed 8 months ago and went to my intake appointment this morning, 2 days into withdrawals from a 90-200+ mg per day morphine habit. Walked out of the clinic with 10 mg of Subutex in my system, feeling “normal” for the first time in months. I had forgotten what that feels like. A huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. The relief is indescribable-not only from the physical and emotional pain of opiate withdrawal, but relief that I now have a future to look forward to. Miracle drug, in my opinion."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I started the Suboxone program about 1 year ago, but I'm now currently taking Subutex. The reason I've been put on Subutex is due to a work-related injury, and with Suboxone, one cannot take any opiates due to the blocker, and I need the Subutex because I'll be having surgery soon. Long story short... I would recommend a Suboxone treatment program to anyone- you don't have those 'cravings' you once had! If you are willing to stop 'using,' this is the best program available. In my opinion, give the program a try, and finally, you will feel normal again- it's amazing how wonderful you feel knowing you are clean and, most importantly, you are finally back to your old self again."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have been on Subutex for about 8 years. I was a heroin addict for a year or so. I was diagnosed with PTSD and depression. Since taking this drug, all the pain and fear went away. I still have depression, but I'm okay with it. Subutex is a wonder drug. I feel good on it. I am on 26 mg. I plan to stay on it for fear of cracking up again, as I hurt myself and others after some sort of mental breakdown. Hope this helps."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Don’t take subs for longer than a few weeks. Make sure you get down to about 0.25 mg before you kick. Have been on subs for 10 years. It only did ruin my stomach. Ruined my ability to sleep. But it did this under the supervision of a doctor. This drug is not meant for long-term use. I have gotten down to 0.25 mg, but because I have been on it for 10 years, the withdrawal was terrible. Worse than any opiate withdrawal. 13 days into it and I still can’t sleep. Can’t move because my body is so fatigued and the chills and body aches remain. Don’t take this medication longer than it takes to detox. It will ruin your life."

For Chronic Pain "Me again. 5 months later on Subutex. I now need two 2 mg and my tramadol. I still have pain. It seems my back condition has become worse. (MRI shows no bone problems.) Strange as for a few weeks it was better, and I needed less pain relief. I'm upset by this pain, and I'm on Gabapentin and benzos on top of this lot. This just slows down my breathing and makes me feel drunk. Still, I'm in severe pain. I do not know what to do now."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Have to agree with many others who have already commented. This medication saved my life. It is important to realize you have to really want to quit using for it to be successful. I had to make meetings a regular part of my life and leave all those behind who continue to abuse drugs. It was really difficult but a lot easier than the last couple of times I'd tried without Suboxone. When I started Suboxone, I'd spent 4 months without using but in complete misery. I was in a perpetual state of opiate withdrawal. I couldn't experience feelings anymore or sleep. My body couldn't even regulate its temperature anymore. After induction, I felt normal for the first time in many, many years. No more withdrawals or suicidal depression."

For Opioid Use Disorder "After 5 years of abusing my body, my family, everyone around me. I finally went to detox. I cannot say this enough: YOU HAVE TO WANT THIS. Just by taking Subutex isn't going to change your life, you have to change your life, you have to want this. Either stay dirty or stay clean. I have 2 years clean now and love life, I live life now. No more looking for a pill. I got plenty in the cabinet for once. For those that have done it, bravo, the storm might have been rough, but we all made it alive."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I suffered with chronic pain for 10 years. Used fentanyl pain patches and codeine number 4. Did very well until the heat and my hormones made the patch secrete in crazy ways, making me sick for about 9 months. I wanted off these patches and was referred to great doctors, and started the Subutex 8 mg and have been a new person since it began. I did have to increase one half pill after about 6 months. Does your body get used to the Subutex, or is my body changing? I'm also menopausal, depressed, and Subutex seems to help with these issues also."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have been addicted to heroin for 5 years and opioid pain pills for 26 years. Now since starting and continuing the Subutex for a little over 6 months, I really feel like with the care I receive from my doctor, medicine, intake meetings, and my counselor that I'm headed in the right direction for the first time in years. Thank you all for your comments as well because you all are one of the big factors in me starting Subutex in the first place. I can honestly say, hey, I know how y'all feel!!! God bless you all, keep your heads held high 'cause you're worth it!!"

For Chronic Pain "I am 61 and started generic Subutex about a month ago, 8 mg 3 times a day after 15 years of fentanyl prescriptions for pain caused by lupus myelitis, the worst chronic pain I’ve ever experienced. I wanted to get off of fentanyl, but this seems just as bad, with twitching or seizing every day, sometimes all day long, and worse after doses. The anti-seizure meds don’t seem to work, and I am in agony and wanting to go into the hospital where I was put on it every day. I am too disabled to get to doctor appointments every day."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Will it took me off the streets and allowed me to live a normal working man's life. I still don't use. Just have a good sub. My doctor knows his shit. I feel the post about the teeth deterioration. Been on 2 yrs. They got bad. Methadone was worse."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I started taking heroin in 1998. I was then put on a methadone program in 2004, and at the time I thought that would be all my problems solved. But when you are on methadone, you tend to still use heroin because you know you've got your methadone to fall back on. So I started Subutex 8mg 1 month ago and have never used heroin because there are no withdrawals at all."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I would agree this medicine does nothing good for your teeth. I have had perfect teeth most of my life, and I have been on this medicine for 11 years. At age 61, most of my back teeth are broken, and I have to have them repaired, which is extremely costly. It worked wonders in the beginning for withdrawal and depression, like unreal. That being said, I still take it, and I am contemplating whether or not I will continue."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I've been on Suboxone/Subutex off and on for the past 4 years. I would definitely say that these medicines are helpful, as far as preventing withdrawal and decreasing cravings. (No more daily drug seeking-such a relief:). However, it's been my experience that you can find yourself in another inappropriate relationship with these drugs if you aren't careful and really committed to your goal in recovery. It is imperative that we have strong support systems (family, friends, meetings, therapists) along with this medication. I was pretty much on my own, increasing my dosage and landed back in detox. Just started treatment again, along with people that I'm accountable to, and things are good. Stay aware and you can do it!"

For Opioid Use Disorder "Subutex saved my life. I had been opioid dependent for 7 years. From one 5 mg a day to 100 mg just not to feel sick. I've been on 8 mg to 16 mg Subutex for 5 months, and although I still crave occasionally, I'm not pill seeking or dope sick. I know eventually I will need to come off Subutex, and I'm okay with that. My life no longer revolves around my next pill or whatever is available if no pills. I hate that life."
