For Hyperprolactinemia "I started bromocriptine this Saturday after 7 years of taking cabergoline and CyberKnife one year ago. My prolactin level increased after stopping cabergoline for 6 months due to the panic attacks I would get. I decided to start bromocriptine to see if it would be better. I went to church today, and I had to sit down as I felt that I was going to pass out. The words on the teleprompter got blurry. I had to leave church early, and I did not make it to the bathroom before I started to vomit. I am going to change it to bedtime to see how it works and take 1/2 of the 2.5 mg. Cabergoline gave me nausea until I found out that I have to take it in the am when I am feeling good and active. Thanks to all your feedback."

For Parkinson's Disease "It caused horrendous headaches and an inability to carry out daily tasks. The pains were sharp, sudden, and continuous through day and night. I needed to work with a neurologist for many months. I would NEVER take this med, certainly not after giving birth. It has caused many significant health challenges. Please heed warnings."

For Hyperprolactinemia "Although it did lower my prolactin, I had very, very bad constipation that just did not go away, took half a tablet, then I stopped it because I couldn’t take laxative for a month! And after stopping it, I had a very bad withdrawal effect, depression I never experienced before... it is awful."

For Hyperprolactinemia "Started bromocriptine 3 weeks ago, with 1 tablet at bedtime to treat high prolactin. The first 3 days were mad, because I had side effects of headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and insomnia, afterwards, nothing out of the ordinary. I will be on it for 3 months, hoping to go for testing after 8 weeks on the drug."

"I was prescribed this medication to stop galactorrhea (inappropriate lactation due to either medication side effects or thyroid disorder). I had normal prolactin levels. I was on this medication multiple times because my former OB/GYN was convinced this medication would help. It never stopped the disorder, so I stopped taking it."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I have had an excess prolactin level for about 5 months now. My previous doctors couldn't give me the right medications, and the more I waited, the worse it became. I changed hospitals, and this new doctor introduced me to bromocriptine, and it has been a life-changing drug in my life. I usually experience most of the side effects, but I know that with time I will be better."

Bromocriptine "I was prescribed Parlodel for amenorrhea. A gynecologist theorized my condition was due to a slightly higher than normal level of prolactin. I had a physical exam and blood work, but no CT scan for a possible tumor. I developed a heart arrhythmia within a few days of taking the prescribed dosage. I couldn't walk up stairs without fainting on the last step. Everything would suddenly go dark and my legs would collapse. My heart thumped and jumped when I tried to sleep. I couldn't take a few steps to the mailbox without feeling exhausted. The doctor didn't seem concerned. He said PACs (premature atrial contractions) are common side effects with the drug. The heart arrhythmia ended when I stopped taking the drug. I sought help from another gynecologist. I was told I never should've been prescribed Parlodel, since my prolactin levels weren't outside of the normal range. I also learned the drug dilates blood vessels throughout the body."

Bromocriptine for Hyperprolactinemia "My prolactin level went very high after my ovarian cyst surgery. I was prescribed bromocriptine. For the very first time in years, I experienced the ovulation discharge. But the side effects were awful: confusion, anxiety, shakiness, headache, weight loss, nausea/vomiting. Could barely eat anything. Gave me high blood pressure and panic attacks. It's very effective, but they could work on the side effects."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I took bromocriptine to reduce prolactin levels in 2020. I struggled with nausea and excessive fatigue, however, the results were worth it. My prolactin dropped from over 2000, and I conceived. I recently resumed as I wanted a second baby and was successful after 2 months on bromocriptine. It is really worth trying if you have a pituitary adenoma causing high prolactin."

Bromocriptine "I was prescribed Parlodel on a few different occasions by my former gynecologist after being diagnosed with idiopathic galactorrhea. Parlodel never helped the condition, so it was worthless. I eventually stopped the medication completely. A few years later, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and an underactive thyroid can cause galactorrhea."

For Parkinson's Disease "I have had good luck with this. I take bromo in combination with carbo/levo. My experience is this drug helps to smooth things out so you don't have so many peaks and valleys in your on/off cycle."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I am currently suffering with hearing loss from bromocriptine, and I am looking for others who may be dealing with the same issue. Please let me know if your hearing loss was due to the side effects of the medicine and what course of treatment was given."
