For Hyperprolactinemia "I was trying to get pregnant for over 15 years. I went to several doctors and had several treatments without any luck. When I changed my doctor, he found out I had prolactinoma. He put me on Dostinex 0.5mg, half a pill twice a week. A month later, I was taking one pill, 0.5mg, once a week. I started to feel weird - sleepy, mood swings, my breasts hurt, and my period didn't come when it was supposed to. So, I did a pregnancy test and to my surprise, it came out positive. I still can't believe it. In less than 2 months of taking the medication, I got pregnant after trying for so many years. I will definitely recommend it. I'm still in shock!"

For Hyperprolactinemia "I was diagnosed with hyperprolactinoma about 4 months ago after 8 months of missed periods. I was put on Cabergoline. I read so many scary reviews about how horrible people felt on it. I have to say this drug is miraculous. Within 3 days of taking it, my period came back, and my depression, anxiety, and mental fog lifted within a week. People with high prolactin levels develop anxiety and mental fog, but it happens so gradually you don't realize it until you actually start to feel well. As far as symptoms go, the first two weeks I felt a little lightheaded right after taking the pill, and a slight stuffy nose. But that was it, and by the third week my body was used to it, and I was symptom-free. I have also lost about 10 lbs since I began taking it. Apparently high prolactin levels are responsible for stubborn hormonal weight gain particularly in the belly area. I feel like my old self again and I couldn't be happier with this drug."

For Hyperprolactinemia "Husband's got a pituitary tumor (prolactin 30,000), been on Cabergoline 2.5 tabs since Oct 19, NO COUNSELING WHATSOEVER FROM DOCS. He's a split personality. Found him on a dating website Oct 19, been chatting women up in shops, neighbors. March 20, paid for dating websites, been chatting to women, chatting up women, getting phone numbers. Wants to wear younger clothes, get tanned, haircuts, talks endlessly about the past, can remember more now about the last 50 years. Wants me to wear tarty clothes, makeup, etc. Wants sex 24/7. Is lusting after anything with boobs when we go out. I feel like a real spare part. He's buying printed T-shirts all the time. Spent hundreds of pounds on dating websites. We've been married 46 years, I'm here as a sex toy, cleaner, etc., till he decides that he's found someone younger and more up for sex than me. I AM OVER HIM AND WANT TO MOVE OUT! Upside is that the prolactin levels are down to 300!"

For Hyperprolactinemia "I started Cabergoline in 2014. I’m a female and had irregular periods my entire life. FINALLY, my primary thought to check my prolactin levels (at age 33). My libido immediately went through the roof. I cheated on my ex-husband and went through a divorce. I don’t consider this a negative side effect as I didn’t realize how unhappy I was until I actually had a sex drive (although it was absolutely impulsive behavior for me...). This decreased over time. Aside from that, I have lost 120 lbs over the past several years. There is no way this is a coincidence. I could not lose weight my entire life otherwise despite various diets and exercise. With Cabergoline, the weight just fell off. I have not been on the med for several months now, and no symptoms have returned although my libido has decreased a bit. My weight has not increased. Cabergoline changed my life, but for the better."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I'm a 23-year-old female. I just recently found out about the tumor 4 months ago and was prescribed cabergoline. Before I started this medication, I was good with my life, happy, and stable, but now that I have started this journey, I am depressed again, but this time it’s worse. I can’t control my emotions at all, and when I mean at all, I literally mean at all. I’ve been crying every single day heavily for a whole day. I’ve been treating the ones I love wrong because of my mood swings and how fast I switch up for no reason at all. I’ve been more tired than normal. I get hot flashes and cold sweats left and right. I feel nauseous all the time and bloated, and I honestly just don’t feel like myself anymore. I feel like I’ve lost myself so badly. The only good thing about this medication that I am thankful for is getting my periods back. Other than that, this medication and the journey I’m on with it still are really, really rough, and I’m just tired of all of it."

For Hyperprolactinemia "It's been almost one year since discovering a pituitary microadenoma and starting the treatment with cabergoline, 1 mg/week. Haven't taken any blood tests since then to check on the prolactin levels, but next year will do so in order to establish if the tumor has shrunk or if I need to take the meds for another 1 to 3 years. My initial side effects were sleepiness, a stuffed nose, anxiety, and panic attacks. But it hasn't made changes in personality at all. No increased sexual drive (my boyfriend would've loved that), no urges to buy stuff, no depression or clouded thinking. Nowadays, I rarely get a stuffed nose and haven't had an anxiety attack in months. I believe that every person experiences this treatment differently, but don't be afraid to take it. For the majority, myself included, taking cabergoline is a good experience, the chances of you having a negative reaction to it are possible, but minimal. Take care, and I wish all of you good health and good luck in your endeavors."

For Hyperprolactinemia "On August 8th, I was diagnosed with a prolactin level of 54.6 after consuming two dosages, i.e., one tablet each week. I thought I should do a test again to check the levels, and on 25th August, I got it checked, and my levels were 16 ng/ml in just 17 days. I was happy... The medicine is very effective, but I will continue it until my doctor recommends me to stop or reduce."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I was put on this medication because my prolactin levels were 76, and they retested, and they were 54, which was still high. I also have PCOS. I have been on cabergoline for 2 weeks and have absolutely NO side effects! My cycles have been extremely irregular, and I haven't had a period since December 2015. After being on cabergoline for a week, my period came out of nowhere! It seems to be doing its job, and hopefully it will help me in my journey of trying to conceive!"

Dostinex (cabergoline) for Hyperprolactinemia "Taking Dostinex (UK). Prolactin levels prior were 29,000! Now around 300 after 5 months. 0.5 mg tablet taken in two doses (half tablet a week). Pituitary has shrunk, no face ache on laying down, nose/sinus is not blocked now. Had extreme sexual desire, thinking about sex 24/7, a bit better now. Having virtual reality dreams, like LSD effects. Feel like a 20-year-old male (I'm 64), like a teenager again! Having a lot of memories coming back from years ago. Wife feels like my girlfriend instead, like I'm young again. Going swimming now. She says I'm like Jekyll and Hyde, odd moods. Pituitary team Monday, so hopefully can stop it."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I am a 29-year-old male. Went to the urologist after consistently low libido and erectile dysfunction. Blood tests revealed hyperprolactinemia and low testosterone, subsequent MRI was consistent with microprolactinoma. Was put on 0.25 mg cabergoline twice a week. After around 10 weeks of taking it, my prolactin is now down to 29 ng/ml from an initial ~120 ng/ml at the time of diagnosis, and testosterone is up from 250 ng/dl to 350 ng/dl. My libido and erectile function have improved significantly. I consistently take the drug at night after dinner, and I am experiencing virtually no side effects. Very happy with this drug so far."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I've been on Dosintex for three months now. In the first two weeks, I noticed a boost in my mood and energy levels. It was as if a fog of depression had been lifted from me. I had mild headaches and a slight loss of appetite. Longer-term, the headaches and nausea subsided, and my mood leveled out. My PMS symptoms (mostly mood-related) have decreased substantially. My emotions and mental health are more stable now than they have been for years. My periods, which were unpredictable or absent previously, have returned to normal. Prior to taking cabergoline, I experienced constant slight lactation due to the elevated prolactin. After about a month on the medication, the lactation stopped completely, and my breasts have shrunk about half a cup size. My libido and sleeping patterns remain unchanged. I've lost about 5 pounds of body weight. I have noticed that if I consume alcohol, I become more easily disoriented and a bit dizzy."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I took a single dose of 0.25 mg (1/2 of my prescribed weekly dose). I felt very depressed with a lack of motivation the following day in a way that is unusual for me, and I'm considering contacting my doctor to change the medication. Does anyone have a similar experience? Is it possible for the side effects to come so fast?"

For Hyperprolactinemia "I’ve been taking cabergoline for 2 years on and off again. I say on and off because of the extreme side effects. If I don’t get a proper night's sleep and drink plenty of water, I’m a different person. I’m angry, I’m anxious, I’m sad, tired, and so very tired. I wake up feeling like I’ve spent the last 5 years in a desert with very limited water. I’m not myself, and I can't handle this medicine. I wish there was something else."

For Hyperprolactinemia "Male, upper 40's. Currently taking 3 mg/week of cabergoline. Diagnosed in late 2018 with a macro-prolactinoma. Tumor was 3.2 cm x 3.1 cm x 2.9 cm in size. Prolactin levels were 5,250 ng/ml, now 5.3. My advice to anyone taking this drug is to be very open in discussing issues with your doctors and your partner. Do not be afraid to ask for help from trusted friends/coworkers around you. Find an outlet for stress. Oh, and avoid alcohol. :) After a year of taking the drug, my tumor was reduced in size by 30%. Sex drive went through the roof. Handled that extra energy/stress with exercise, went to a low-carb diet, took Levothyroxine for thyroid, added supplements including DHEA. I lost about 100 lbs and 12 inches off my waist. Two years out, the tumor is growing again. I'm going to have surgery. Working out like mad. I biked over 100 miles this week. My sex drive is crazy, but I feel like I'm in more control. No infidelity, but temptations are daily for sure."

For Hyperprolactinemia "My son was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor in 2011. He was given this drug 2 times a week, and in 6 weeks the tumor had shrunk over 50%. He continued to take this medication for the next 3 1/2 years under the care of his neurosurgeon. Last month, he had to have open-heart surgery at the age of 22 for a condition called constrictive pericarditis directly related to this drug. Please read the inserts of your medication. Just because they are doctors and neurosurgeons doesn't mean they don't make mistakes."

For Hyperprolactinemia "- Male - Diagnosed with macro prolactinoma - initial levels 315,000, which was extremely high, the tumor was pressing on my skull and optic nerves. - went on 1x2.5 mg once a week and gradually increased dosage to 2x5 mg twice a week - 8 months later, levels are down to 1,200. Side effects - first was mood swings, insomnia, extreme drowsiness. - after a month or so, I noticed I felt angry quite a bit and it has caused issues with friends and family. - after a few months, my testosterone levels increased and so did sexual urges and penis length. - after 6 months, I started getting anxiety attacks, which I haven’t had for over 10 years. So for me, the side effects are quite bad, but it’s working, so I will report back in a few months. It’s been very tough for me."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I am 34 years of age, male, and for years, since 2003, when I was just 21 years of age, I started feeling really depressed and started suffering from anxiety. But prior, in the buildup to this, I had also suffered from depleted sex drive, foggy memory, mood swings, and low energy. I always needed an afternoon nap to get me through the day, no matter how much sleep I had. Anyway, I had been going to doctors for years. I was prescribed Citalopram, which did 90% eradicate the anxiety and definitely the depression, but I still suffered from the other symptoms. I always told them how I felt, had tests for diabetes, checked my thyroid, etc., all coming back clear. Long story short, I found out I had a pituitary tumor and took cabergoline, and everything cleared up. Felt great!!!!!"

For Hyperprolactinemia "I have been on cabergoline for about a month now, after being diagnosed with ridiculously high prolactin levels, and all sorts of problems from lactating to extreme fatigue. After reading all of the reviews listing horrific side effects, I was really nervous about it and was considering holding out for surgery instead. However, I'm pleased to report that I'm able to give a positive review. I have had no side effects at all (apart from mild constipation in the couple of days immediately after taking each tablet). I am more focused, I am less fatigued, and I've even had a period (very light). I know that it's early days, and I've got follow-up appointments in the coming weeks, but I am glad to be able to report a positive experience."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I've been on cabergoline 0.25 for 2 weeks now for hyperprolactinemia caused by a microadenoma. Before I started taking it, I came on here for reviews and almost said no to it because all these comments about the side effects made me so nervous. I'll sit here and be the one to say this medication gave me next to no side effects. I had a pretty bad headache for the first 2 times, after that, I have no side effects at all. No idea if my prolactin level is any lower, but I feel my vision coming back slowly and less frequent dizziness. Hoping a few more weeks I can get back to my regular routine."

Also, my sex drive is fabulous. I feel normal again, I feel like myself. There is one downside: my nose is always blocked, but all the positives outweigh the negatives. 0.5 twice a week."

For Hyperprolactinemia "I just started Cabergoline for the third time in the last decade. Had to stop twice before due to pregnancy. My levels have always been moderately elevated, 56-118. For new users of the drug, be aware that the first month can be difficult. Nausea and terrible headaches were consistent for me. But after 4 weeks they are gone, and after 6 weeks you’ll feel like a new person! I looked in the mirror one day and it was like I was looking at a new person. My face appeared much healthier, no bags under my eyes, I had color to my skin again. I lost about 12lbs in the first 6 weeks. No more lactation and my periods were back to normal. For me, this drug is life changing. Push through the initial side effects to see the results. It’s a strong drug but it’s worth it."

For Hyperprolactinemia "My prolactin level was 75, and after less than 5 weeks, my prolactin went down to normal. The side effects were extreme the first 2-3 weeks (burning headaches, nausea, depression). At this point (6 weeks in), I mostly suffer the side effects when I haven't slept enough. I hadn't had my period since December 2015 and got my first real period a week ago. I'm not sure if my 4mm benign tumor has shrunk yet, but at least I know that the medicine is working. When taking this drug, I've found that it is really important to sleep well, eat healthy, and exercise frequently to eliminate side effects. I'd absolutely recommend it!"
