Bismuth subcitrate potassium / metronidazole / tetracycline for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day 5 of Pylera. I had dark, loose stools for the first 2 days and a nasty headache the 3rd. All that is gone now. I'm just extremely tired! Been napping 2 hours a day, and I couldn't stay awake to take my last dose, so I had to wake up and take it. I've been taking a strong probiotic with it and drinking 4-5 cups of tea a day (green, black, peppermint, ginger). Staying away from gluten too. Good luck, everyone! I've had this infection since 2008. Was on other meds then, but I guess I've had it and it never went away. I was deathly sick for a month, dropped under 100 lbs, and had 6 emergency visits all because of this nasty infection. Praying this finally makes it go away!"

Bismuth subcitrate potassium / metronidazole / tetracycline for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Same nightmare... thank God I had a sick day today due to some other reason. Decided to take the first dose of Pylera in the a.m. and just in 30 min fun started. For the last 7-8 hours, I went to the bathroom like 10 times, can't even drink anything at this point. I can't get off from work till August, therefore, I'll stop for now and do the entire course during vacation, otherwise, I will not survive. Hope I don't get dehydration because of this crazy diarrhea. Good luck to everyone! Hopefully, it's worth it."

Bismuth subcitrate potassium / metronidazole / tetracycline for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I have been taking Pylera for 3 days. Today, I am not taking it anymore. The side effects are horrible. I know the medicine is supposed to get rid of the H. pylori, but if I already feel bad throughout the day, why would I want to take something that makes me feel worse? Vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, black stools!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Taken for H. pylori and giardia infection, I was prescribed tetracycline 4x daily, metronidazole 3x daily, + omeprazole, a 14-day course. I'm on day 10, and it's brutal. Side effects are constant nausea, anxiety, body aches, and insomnia. The anxiety seems to be worse when I take the tetracycline, especially at night with heartburn. Have to spread the meds out a few hours apart since the tetra needs to be taken on an empty stomach. There's a constant bitter taste in my mouth, and no foods sound appetizing. Cold liquids make the bitter taste much worse, so avoid ice drinks. I've had dark foamy urine and diarrhea, but the rumbling gas and stomach pains I had before treatment are decreased. It honestly feels like you're poisoning yourself, but stick with it and read reviews to know it's not abnormal. Added a spore probiotic and a Sboullardi taken 2 hours apart from meds so yeast won't multiply from the antibiotics."

Bismuth subcitrate potassium / metronidazole / tetracycline for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 4. Days 1-3 were okay. Day 4, I have very soft stools and I'm going more than usual. My time is off, and I missed my last dose for 2 days. I was only given Pylera, not another med, as I see in the comments. The comments are helpful, I'm so glad to see them. I thought I was going crazy. Very hard to take 12 pills a day. Headaches starting, and my stomach is sore at the top. Feeling tired on day 4. Canceled plans for day 7. I needed to change my diet anyway, so this will help. I'm making a pot of chicken vegetable soup to eat before taking the dose. Hope it helps. I was going to quit, but after reading comments, I will keep it up for 10 days. Keep the comments coming."

Bismuth subcitrate potassium / metronidazole / tetracycline for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Currently on my 6th day of the treatment and it's the worst! Bloating, nausea, and diarrhea... can't wait until this nightmare ends. I have not been able to work for 5 days already due to this medication. Once you start the treatment, you can't stop it. For the diarrhea, I was told I cannot take any Imodium, which is worse. Good luck, people. Hope we all can survive this nightmare and move on..."
