"After coronary angioplasty with stent implantation into my LAD due to >99% blockage, I was put on bempedoic acid in addition to 'background therapy' with atorvastatin and ezetimibe. I am 44 and have a heterozygous LDL receptor mutation. LDL was 260 mg/dl (6.7 mmol/l) without medication, and 160 mg/dl (4.1 mmol/l) with atorvastatin/ezetimibe 20/10 mg. The addition of bempedoic acid brought LDL down to 110 mg/dl (2.8 mmol/l) without noticeable side effects. However, uric acid levels skyrocketed, which is a known side effect. I stopped taking bempedoic acid and am now on inclisiran (not yet available in the US), which has brought down my LDL to 60 mg/dl (1.5 mmol/l) within one week. Effective medication, but check your uric acid levels regularly since this drug can cause gout!"

"Thankfully, of all the listed side effects, I haven't experienced any of them. I'm looking forward to my next labs and hopefully they'll be good."

Bempedoic acid "I have been on it for a month. Feel weaker, dizziness for sure. Zombie-like flu symptoms. Leg cramps in the AM. Loss of concentration. Not sure what the long term has in store. I hate that half-there feeling. Fell down the stairs on Crestor. Leg muscle gave way. Can't take statins. No blood work yet."
