"Well, a doctor got me hooked on gabapentin (long story, not my first iatrogenic drug dependence), could not wean myself off it without extreme, disabling suffering lasting perhaps a year total. Now have a doc that is withdrawing me with 60 mg of baclofen and some carbazapine. So far, quite tolerable, and my gaba dose is down from 4350 mg/day to 3300 mg/day, for me a huge drop. So relieved! Gabapentin is poison, let's just hope I don't end up hooked on baclofen!"

"Be very careful with baclofen - the side effects for me were awful. At 60 mg I was nauseous, dizzy, and felt like I was kind of losing my mind. It definitely took away cravings though, but so not worth it if you can’t even function, bed-ridden. I’m on Naltrexone now which seems to be working and there are no side-effects, so I’m going to stick with that and hope the “extinction” effect will help me control my drinking."

"My doctor prescribed this medication, along with 2 others I believe for opiate withdrawal. I'd have to say the combo of the 3 really did help & made life easier. She had me on the Baclofen for the muscle aches & pains, especially the lower back pain I would get. I would definitely recommend this to other addicts for withdrawal."

"Do not use baclofen! The potential for terrible side effects isn't worth it. Google the side effects for withdrawal, another user did a great job of explaining the insomnia and mental issues associated with this drug. I also hallucinated for days."

"I wanted so badly to be cured but its not a cure. I'm still an alcoholic but it gave me severe depression. I'm back on antabuse. It works for me but my cravings are intense. I was sooooo hoping I could be normal. Fools gold"

"I was able to abstain from drinking totally. It is a miracle drug! Please accept this fact. It's this or die, I can't stop myself drinking astronomical amounts without it. It is the only thing that works!!!!!!!! Please let me work and live, please I am begging you. I don't want to die. It has stopped my cravings/drinking every time but I have almost always had to lie to doctors to get it."
