Warning
- Do not take more than the package label says or your doctor told you to take. Taking more than you were told can cause very bad heart problems, including an abnormal heartbeat. Sometimes, these heart problems can lead to death. Taking Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief (loperamide and simethicone) with certain other drugs may also raise the chance of heart problems. Talk with your doctor.
- Do not give to a child younger than 2 years of age.
Uses of Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief:
- It is used to treat diarrhea.
- It is used to ease too much gas in the stomach.
What do I need to tell my doctor BEFORE I take Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief?
- If you have an allergy to loperamide, simethicone, or any other part of Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief (loperamide and simethicone).
- If you are allergic to Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief (loperamide and simethicone); any part of Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief (loperamide and simethicone); or any other drugs, foods, or substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.
- If you have any of these health problems: Belly pain without diarrhea, dysentery (may include blood in stools and fever), constipation, or a certain bowel problem called colitis.
- If you have ever had a long QT on ECG or other heartbeat that is not normal.
- If you have heart problems.
- If you have any of these health problems: Low potassium or magnesium levels.
- If you are taking any drugs that can cause a certain type of heartbeat that is not normal (prolonged QT interval). There are many drugs that can do this. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- If you are breast-feeding. Do not breast-feed while you take Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief (loperamide and simethicone).

Use Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief (loperamide and simethicone) as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.
All products:
- Follow how to take Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief (loperamide and simethicone) as you have been told by your doctor. Do not use more than you were told to use.
- Take on an empty stomach. Take 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
- Drink lots of noncaffeine liquids unless told to drink less liquid by your doctor.
- Do not take Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief (loperamide and simethicone) for longer than you were told by your doctor.
Caplet:
- Take with a full glass of water.
- If you have trouble swallowing, talk with your doctor.
Chewable tablet:
- Chew or crush the chewable tablet well. Mix crushed tablet with food. Do not swallow whole.
What do I do if I miss a dose?
- This medicine is taken on an as needed basis. Do not take more often than told by the doctor.
What are some side effects that I need to call my doctor about right away?
WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:
- Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
- Very bad dizziness or passing out.
- Chest pain or pressure or a fast heartbeat.
- A heartbeat that does not feel normal.
- Very upset stomach or throwing up.
- Belly pain.
- Constipation.
- Swelling of belly.
- Fever.
- Black, tarry, or bloody stools.
- Not able to pass urine or change in how much urine is passed.

What are some other side effects of Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief?

- Store at room temperature.
- Protect from light.
- Store in a dry place. Do not store in a bathroom.
- Keep all drugs in a safe place. Keep all drugs out of the reach of children and pets.
- Throw away unused or expired drugs. Do not flush down a toilet or pour down a drain unless you are told to do so. Check with your pharmacist if you have questions about the best way to throw out drugs. There may be drug take-back programs in your area.
