Uses of Alamag:

• It is used to treat heartburn and upset stomach.

What do I need to tell my doctor BEFORE I take Alamag?

• If you have an allergy to aluminum, magnesium, or any other part of Alamag (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide chewable tablets).
• If you are allergic to Alamag (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide chewable tablets); any part of Alamag (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide chewable tablets); or any other drugs, foods, or substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.
• If you have kidney problems.

• If you are on a low-magnesium diet, talk with your doctor.
• Do not take Alamag (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide chewable tablets) for longer than you were told by your doctor.
• This medicine may prevent other drugs taken by mouth from getting into the body. If you take other drugs by mouth, you may need to take them at some other time than Alamag (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide chewable tablets). Talk with your doctor.
• If you have phenylketonuria (PKU), talk with your doctor. Some products have phenylalanine.
• Do not give to a child younger than 12 years of age.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant. You will need to talk about the benefits and risks of using Alamag (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide chewable tablets) while you are pregnant.
• Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding. You will need to talk about any risks to your baby.

Use Alamag (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide chewable tablets) as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.

• Take Alamag (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide chewable tablets) after meals and at bedtime or as you have been told by your doctor.
• Chew well or let dissolve in the mouth.

What do I do if I miss a dose?

• If you take Alamag (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide chewable tablets) on a regular basis, take a missed dose as soon as you think about it.
• If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time.
• Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
• Many times Alamag (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide chewable tablets) is taken on an as needed basis. Do not take more often than told by the doctor.

What are some side effects that I need to call my doctor about right away?

• Constipation.
• Diarrhea.

• Store at room temperature.

• Throw away unused or expired drugs. Do not flush down a toilet or pour down a drain unless you are told to do so. Check with your pharmacist if you have questions about the best way to throw out drugs. There may be drug take-back programs in your area.
