3 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- Brovex CT (brompheniramine)
- galantamine
Interactions between your drugs
brompheniramine galantamine
Applies to: Brovex CT (brompheniramine), galantamine
Talk to your doctor before using brompheniramine together with galantamine. Medications like brompheniramine may reduce the effectiveness of galantamine. In addition, patients with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia may be more likely to experience nervous system side effects of brompheniramine such as drowsiness, confusion, and mental impairment. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
brompheniramine food
Applies to: Brovex CT (brompheniramine)
Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of brompheniramine such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with brompheniramine. Do not use more than the recommended dose of brompheniramine, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
galantamine food
Applies to: galantamine
Galantamine should be taken with food, and you should drink plenty of fluids throughout the day to reduce the severity of certain side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and/or weight loss. Extended-release formulations should be swallowed whole (i.E., do not crush, chew, or divide the pill) and are often recommended to be taken in the morning. You should speak with your healthcare provider before using grapefruit products (fruit, juice, supplements) with galantamine as they may increase the blood levels and side effects of galantamine. You should also contact your healthcare provider if you experience changes in your heart rate, seizures, difficulty breathing, trouble urinating, dizziness, fainting, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and/or unexpected weight loss. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
