Drug Interaction Report
2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- irinotecan liposomal
- magnesium hydroxide / mineral oil
Interactions between your drugs
magnesium hydroxide irinotecan liposomal
Applies to: magnesium hydroxide / mineral oil, irinotecan liposomal
If you are currently receiving treatment with irinotecan liposomal, let your doctor know before you use any kind of medication that has a laxative effect. Because irinotecan liposomal causes diarrhea in the majority of patients, it may not be advisable for you to use laxatives or bowel cleansing products, as this may increase the risk of dehydration and electrolyte abnormalities. In severe cases, dehydration and electrolyte abnormalities can lead to irregular heart rhythm, seizures, and kidney problems. Contact your doctor if you experience potential signs and symptoms of fluid and electrolyte depletion such as dizziness, lightheadedness, dry mouth, thirst, fatigue, weakness, muscle cramps, decreased urination, palpitation, and increased heart rate. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
