Usual Adult Dose for Hypertension
Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 to 25 mg-quinapril 10 to 20 mg orally once a day
Comments:
- The initial dosage of hydrochlorothiazide-quinapril should be based on the patient requirements for each drug individually.
Renal Dose Adjustments
CrCl less than 25 mL/min: Not recommended
Liver Dose Adjustments
Caution is recommended.
Precautions
US BOXED WARNING:
- PREGNANCY: Drugs that act directly on the renin-angiotensin system (including ACE inhibitors) can cause injury and death to a developing fetus. Hydrochlorothiazide-quinapril should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is detected.
Safety and efficacy have not been established in patients younger than 18 years.
Consult WARNINGS section for additional precautions.
Dialysis
Quinapril is not removed by hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
Other Comments
- Hydrochlorothiazide-quinapril should be administered at the same time each day without regard to food.
- In patients with renal impairment requiring concomitant diuretic therapy, a loop diuretic is preferred over a thiazide diuretic.
