Ryaltris Disease Interactions

There are 5 disease interactions with Ryaltris (mometasone / olopatadine nasal).

Moderate

Mometasone nasal (applies to Ryaltris) hepatic impairment

Moderate Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applicable conditions: Liver Disease

Mometasone nasal should be used with caution in patients with impaired liver function. Concentrations of mometasone appear to increase with severity of liver dysfunction.

Moderate

Mometasone nasal (applies to Ryaltris) hyperadrenocorticism

Moderate Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility.

Hypercorticism and adrenal suppression may occur when nasal corticosteroids, including mometasone nasal, are used in patients at risk for such effects. It is important that the recommended dosage of mometasone nasal is not exceeded.

Moderate

Mometasone nasal (applies to Ryaltris) infections

Moderate Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applicable conditions: Infection - Bacterial/Fungal/Protozoal/Viral, Tuberculosis -- Latent

Patients who are using drugs that suppress the immune system, such as corticosteroids (including mometasone nasal), are more susceptible to infections than healthy subjects. Mometasone nasal should be used with caution, if at all, in patients with active or quiescent tuberculosis infection of the respiratory tract, untreated local or systemic fungal or bacterial infections, systemic viral or parasitic infections, or ocular herpes simplex due to the potential for worsening of these infections.

Moderate

Mometasone nasal (applies to Ryaltris) ocular toxicities

Moderate Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applicable conditions: Cataracts, Glaucoma/Intraocular Hypertension

Nasal and inhaled corticosteroids, including mometasone nasal, can result in the development of glaucoma and/or cataracts. Close monitoring is warranted in patients with a change in vision or history of increased intraocular pressure, glaucoma, and/or cataracts. Referral to an ophthalmologist should be considered for patients who develop ocular symptoms or use mometasone nasal long term.

Moderate

Olopatadine nasal (applies to Ryaltris) alcohol

Moderate Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applicable conditions: Alcoholism

Concurrent use of olopatadine nasal spray with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants should be avoided as additional reductions in alertness and additional impairment of the central nervous system performance may occur.

Drug Interaction Classification

These classifications are only a guideline. The relevance of a particular drug interaction to a specific individual is difficult to determine. Always consult your healthcare provider before starting or stopping any medication.
Major Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
Moderate Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.
Minor Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan.
Unknown No interaction information available.
