For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I had never had an outbreak until I reached 71. I wish I had some exciting news about how I got Herpes Simplex. But alas, no. I made up for lost time and had 7 outbreaks in 5 months. Oooh the pain and ugliness. On 8-16-17 I received a shot of Valtrex. It was a miracle. I want to pass on the best treatment is to slather vaseline over all affected areas. It keeps it from spreading and helps the discomfort. Thanks"

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I was notified last January 2014 that I had HSV2. I went into such a deep depression that I truly wanted to give up. I begged for a second test to confirm it. The doctor refused to test me again and said that she was positive that the test was positive and showed me the papers. I still was in denial for quite some time. The doctor gave me Valtrex 500 milligrams and told me to take one every day. Needless to say, I took it for 30 days and stopped and never had an outbreak until just a few days ago, which confirmed that I was positive. I immediately began taking my medicine. Although it can be very uncomfortable while at work because I do sit down and get in and out of trucks constantly. This medicine has truly kept my outbreak under control."

For Varicella-Zoster "I started this medication the day after I noticed the rash. It was a small patch on my lower back (maybe 1 1/2 inches). I have luckily had little pain, but a couple of days the rash was itchy, sore, and uncomfortable. After four and 1/2 days on the meds, all of my 10-15 blisters are gone. It doesn’t seem like they even opened... I don’t see any crust. They are thankfully just shrinking and drying up. So, so thankful for this med!! (Took med with lots of water and food)."

For Cold Sores "I am reading these responses, and it makes me feel so hopeful. I felt my bottom lip burning and itching this morning and ran home to use Abreva, then made a doctor's appointment and was prescribed Valtrex one-day treatment. It's been 5 hours, my blisters are still there, but at least they don't seem like they're growing, still itching and uncomfortable, though. I am supposed to see my boyfriend and his family this weekend, so I'm really hoping it dissolves very soon."
