Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I contracted athlete's foot terribly in 1982 while in military basic training. I literally tried every cream on the market with only temporary relief. I went to a podiatrist in 1997, and she prescribed Lamisil pills, one a day for 12 days. The itching and burning was gone in 3 days, but I went ahead and finished the remaining doses. This is 5-17-2014, and I've been athlete's foot free ever since. This is truly a miracle medicine."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have suffered from toenail fungus since I was around 6 years old. (I am 23 now.) I finally went to the dermatologist last summer for other skin issues, and I also addressed my fungal infection and dry and cracked feet. I had no idea that my dry, cracked feet were due to the fungus! I’ve dealt with bloody cracks for most of my life. I decided to go on Lamisil in August of 2017. I took one pill per day for 3 months. About a month in, my cracks and dry skin were healed. My feet were finally so smooth after all these years! Fast forward to a year later, my toenail fungus is completely gone, and my new healthy nails are all grown in! The only side effect I experienced while on the medication were headaches. They were bearable and didn’t occur every day. I am so glad I took this medicine! Definitely would recommend."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Never again will I take this medication to treat toenail fungus. Beware - the side effects are real and dangerous. I am a healthy young female with no prior liver issues, nor gastrointestinal issues, nor insomnia. After 6 weeks of taking this medication daily, I then saw really intense and dangerous side effects and had to stop. Diarrhea, really bad insomnia and anxiety, digestive issues (stomach pain, flatulence, grumbling), weight loss, extreme fatigue, burping up acid. I had a liver panel test done and had liver damage as well. I stopped taking it immediately and three weeks later (today) I STILL have all these side effects. Another negative of this drug is that it stays in your system for a very long time. I hope I find relief soon with this medication and have complete healing (body and toenail). I would strongly advise against taking this drug."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "My physician prescribed Lamisil for me in October 2007. I took it for three months and had 2 liver panels done during that time. I was dizzy and mildly nauseated the first few days and had diarrhea. It has taken 10 months for the new nails to grow out but I can bear my toes once again! It also cures athlete's feet. Now my feet are baby smooth and free of dryness and cracks. I would highly recommend this product. Don't wait! This is the best my feet have looked in years. Trust me, IT WORKS! :)"

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "The good: Try this product. I was always embarrassed to tell my doctor and afraid of side effects. Well, all the topical tricks and liquids and over-the-counter stuff never worked. I can't tell you the last time I had nice-looking toenails or feet. The skin on the bottom of my feet was always dry, white, and scaly. Not anymore! My wife was shocked at how good they look. And I am getting 4 beautiful toenails growing in! Amazing! Never been so happy to wear flip-flops! The bad: I almost stopped taking Lamisil as the first few days I felt very agitated. It went away after a week, and now I am fine. I did develop a rash on my arms, which I am not sure is a result of the Lamisil treatment or simply a coincidence. But honestly, it does work."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I am a 22-year-old girl. My big toenail has been bad since I was 13/14. Not just the tip - full nail, hard, gross-looking. I tried all kinds of 'home remedies' & those over-the-counter lacquers, nothing worked. Doctor prescribed me terbinafine. I decided to look it up & I SHOULD HAVE NEVER DONE THAT! I freaked myself out SO badly over people's reviews. Liver damage? Loss of taste? Rash? WHAT!? I cried because I was SO tired of having ugly feet & upset that I was going to have them forever. I just wanted the fungus to go away. After talking with my Dad & Pharmacist, they said I would be fine, & I decided to give it a go. I am nearing the end of my 3 months on it. I have had NO side effects whatsoever & my big toenail is 90% CLEAR OF FUNGUS! I cannot be happier because I finally will have pretty feet & nails! Take my advice: STOP READING THESE REVIEWS & PSYCHING YOURSELF OUT! JUST TRY IT. Can you imagine if I didn't? I'd still have toenail fungus & I'd still be upset."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Hideous fungus under all 10 toenails since age 12, I'm 52 now. My life is changed, since in adolescence and even until today, I have hidden my toes and suffered ridicule and embarrassing questions. Been taking the drug for 4 months as I write this. It's a miracle. Big toenails have cleared beautifully to 50% and all other 8 nails are at 90% or better. Taste impacted minimally (temporary). Liver function normal. Just do it."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "8 more days to go, so I figure if any bad side effects were going to happen, I would have had them by now. I noticed big toenail started clearing after 10 days on the product. Now, it is over a quarter inch clear from bottom up; the doctor said to give it 9 months from the start of treatment for the nail completely grows out clear. Two other infected nails showing marked improvement. Only the little toenail does not appear to be coming in normal. No side effects to note."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I'm an engineer and truly tried every remedy you can google. Vinegar, bleach, tea tree oil, multiple 'online' ointments, Penlac twice, Laser Pinpointe procedure for $1400. It was to the point I had no nail really. All with varying results, the key is ALWAYS TEMPORARY! I spent at least $2000 over the last 15 years on my problem! Being a health fanatic workout guy, do you have any idea how hard it is to be the guy who doesn't show his FEET? Of course you do! I was so SCARED that Terbinafine would damage my liver, because don't we all think we will be the 1 in 10,000 that has a problem. 68 days in, not a hint of fungus 1/2 way up my nail! Will update and show pics, wish I would have done this 15 years ago!"

For Onychomycosis, Fingernail "I've had a fungal fingernail infection for roughly 25 years. It started on my left ring finger, spread to my thumb, then to every fingernail on my left hand. I've tried all topical creams, ointments, and herbal remedies. I even soaked my nails in a half bleach/half water solution daily. The ends of my fingers became deformed. The fingernail detached from the nail bed and fell off. The first dermatologist was wrong and said it was eczema. The second dermatologist took a sample of the nail and showed it was a fungal infection. Prescribed terbinafine (generic Lamisil) pill for 4 months. Didn't think it was helping because I couldn't see a difference until about the 10th week. A brand new normal fingernail started growing in at the cuticle. No negative side effects. It's been 2 months since I stopped taking the medication; a new, healthier nail continues to grow. Three nails have completely cleared up! I know this is long-winded (TL;DR), but this stuff saved my nails, and I'm not self-conscious anymore."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I’m not sure if I chose the right condition I had, but I basically had toenail fungus that took over almost all of my toenails to the point where my big toenails would just crumble apart and crack off like twice a year. Like, really bad. I took terbinafine for 3 months, and I finally just got a pedicure that removed the nail polish that would hide the hideous sight, and it’s practically gone! I’m so impressed. I was a little weary when I first started because of the side effects, but I felt no side effects at all, and it healed me! Thank God for modern medicine."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have had this condition for years. With no progress using any other meds. Lamisil cleared it up completely in 2 months. The doctor warned that it could take up to 6 months to a year to see any results, but thankfully it was way less time than predicted."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "For years I missed out on so much. I was always ashamed to wear sandals or any type of shoes that showed my toes. As a girl, I found myself looking at everyone else's cute shoes, wishing I could wear them. It took about 8 months, and then my toenails were perfect! It truly was a miracle drug! I would recommend it to anyone who has any kind of toenail fungus. I now wear any kind of shoe I want and don't even think about that nasty problem. My only regret was not doing it any sooner."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I am 18, and I’ve had nail fungus since I was about 11. It started off on my left pinky toe, but years later, probably because I was in cross country/track, it spread to four other toes. I really tried everything from home remedies to over-the-counter medicine. Finally, I spoke to my doctor and was prescribed to take Lamisil orally for three months. I was terrified because of all the negative reviews, but I desperately wanted this disgusting fungus to go away. It was the last two months that I admit made it difficult to continue. I basically had diarrhea every morning, which was horrible. But other than that, that was the only side effect I experienced. It’s been about three months since I finished my three-month prescription. And it truly feels like a miracle. The pinky toe on my left foot still has a little more clearing up to do, but really, other than that, my toes look so healthy. I’m sure in a few more months all my toenails will be completely clear. Was worth it."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have been on the generic of Lamisil (terbinafine) for 3 months and have about a week left. My toenails (4 severely affected, the rest just with a slight yellow tint) appear to be growing in clear. I declined this medication for years because I had read about possible bad side effects. I have had zero side effects with this medication and am kicking myself for putting up with years of embarrassment. I would definitely recommend it. The only bummer was not being able to drink for 3 months, but it appears to be worth it!"

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Update. It's been 1 year 6 months since I first tried the generic brand of Lamisil (you can read my story in past comments). I was on the medication for 3 months. I can say my 9 toes are clear, one big toe 98% clear. Just do it!! Can wear sandals now, walk the beach barefoot with my girlfriend, no more embarrassment."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Best advice: 1. Get prescription pills & continue until side effects are unbearable, that product will clear it up best & fastest. Then switch to prescription polish. 2. Go buy an electric nail file with attachments, keep the thinnest & shortest as possible. 3. Change socks morning and night. 4. Don't share nail tools! 5. Sally's has a professional liquid cleaner, the blue stuff lasts a year! 6. Clean infected toes in the evening before changing socks. 7. I switched from pills to medicated polish because of headaches, and after 7 months, my toenail is clear & growing at a similar rate to others. I've read and tried all the tricks. If you follow these instructions DAILY, it WILL clear up, but you're looking at a year. Add Epsom Salt 2-minute soak, 2-3 times a week, plug the bath sink, put foot in."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Took it religiously for a year. Had toenail fungus on all ten toes for probably the last 10 years. It took a while for the nail to grow out, but I kept them clean and dry and scrubbed daily in the shower. My feet have not looked this good in 10 years. It's a slow recovery but it works."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "After hiding my feet since I was a kid, 30+ years, asking for medical help several times (when I would finally get the courage), I would always just get prescribed a nail paint product. Reading all about terbinafine over the years, I was ready to do what I needed to by taking this medication as prescribed. I took it every day for 90 days without missing a day. At the beginning, there was a day or two where I went off food, and a few nights where my dreams were very vivid or waking up and struggling to get back to sleep, but that was it. I started at the beginning of March 2021, and it is now mid-June. There is no sign of fungus, and my large toe, which was the worst, is about 3/4 grown, white in color and pretty. Once it’s fully grown, I will have normal (not yellow, thick, flaky, broken) toenails for the first time in 30 years. Take as prescribed, and it does work, but you have to be patient. It took about 2 months before I could see signs of change."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Got athlete's foot in a college shower back in 1992. It spread to my toenails shortly after, and I tried everything to get rid of it or hide it. It only affected my left foot, but my big toe was horrible. It was three times thicker than normal and really nasty. My best way of covering it up was duct tape claiming I banged it on something. I have taken Lamisil for a little over 30 days and the nails are all clearing up and the big toe looks amazing. I have dealt with this issue for over 20 years and am thrilled that it will no longer be an embarrassment. I would have given it a '10', but a bout of insomnia mixed with some really strange dreams took a point away."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I'm 2 weeks from completing my 3-month treatment and have had absolutely no problems or side effects. I was very skeptical about Lamisil before starting because of all the negative reviews that saturate the internet. My nails are improving and even though the bad nails are far from grown out, I can tell a visible difference in nail color, texture, and the health of my nail bed. I tease and say that it's a miracle drug. Since starting Lamisil, I've lost 13 pounds, and I swear the medication has even helped with my allergies. I am a long-time allergy sufferer, and I have not had even the slightest onset of a drippy nose or watery eye this spring. I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with this product."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I was on this for 6 months, at which point I had to stop taking it as the side effects were taking a serious toll on my health. My liver went from 100% function to 40%, and needless to say, I felt like a pile of overcooked spaghetti for months while taking it and for about 3 months afterward. My toenail fungus started to clear up after 6 months, but unfortunately, after discontinuing use, it came back in full force. I am now looking for a better alternative."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I've had toenail fungus for years. Maybe even a decade. Always embarrassed to show my feet because who wants to see nasty thick yellow nails? I finally got over the embarrassment and went to a doctor to ask for help. They said either these pills or a nail polish that takes 1 year to work. I chose the pills. The first night I took them, I couldn't sleep. For about the first week, I had brain fog and mood swings. My appetite was very small. One day, I had a bad stomach ache and diarrhea. I looked online and saw these types of things could happen, and I decided to power through it. The side effects stopped after about 10 days. It's been about 45 days now, and I can't believe the results. Eight of my toes were infected. They all look much better, about 80% healed, I'd say. The side effects suck, but they didn't last long for me, and I love being able to be barefoot without being embarrassed."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Started Lamisil in October. I felt fine until about the third week and got very bloated and gassy. Doctor told me to do “pulse dosing,” which was to take for a week then stop for three weeks. After a week off the medication, I felt better. I started back and will take it as long as I can. Apparently, the efficacy is almost the same with the intermittent dosing. Just figure that the more I can keep taking it, the better and don’t feel the need to stop for three weeks. Will update."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I'd suffered for 30 years with both toenail and fingernail fungus. My life was dramatically affected as I was never able to wear sandals or, when I was barefoot for any reason, people stared at my feet in disgust. When I was with clients showing them work on my iPad or iPhone, I had to hide my thumb or always wear a band-aid.
