Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "The good: Try this product. I was always embarrassed to tell my doctor and afraid of side effects. Well, all the topical tricks and liquids and over-the-counter stuff never worked. I can't tell you the last time I had nice-looking toenails or feet. The skin on the bottom of my feet was always dry, white, and scaly. Not anymore! My wife was shocked at how good they look. And I am getting 4 beautiful toenails growing in! Amazing! Never been so happy to wear flip-flops! The bad: I almost stopped taking Lamisil as the first few days I felt very agitated. It went away after a week, and now I am fine. I did develop a rash on my arms, which I am not sure is a result of the Lamisil treatment or simply a coincidence. But honestly, it does work."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I am a 22-year-old girl. My big toenail has been bad since I was 13/14. Not just the tip - full nail, hard, gross-looking. I tried all kinds of 'home remedies' & those over-the-counter lacquers, nothing worked. Doctor prescribed me terbinafine. I decided to look it up & I SHOULD HAVE NEVER DONE THAT! I freaked myself out SO badly over people's reviews. Liver damage? Loss of taste? Rash? WHAT!? I cried because I was SO tired of having ugly feet & upset that I was going to have them forever. I just wanted the fungus to go away. After talking with my Dad & Pharmacist, they said I would be fine, & I decided to give it a go. I am nearing the end of my 3 months on it. I have had NO side effects whatsoever & my big toenail is 90% CLEAR OF FUNGUS! I cannot be happier because I finally will have pretty feet & nails! Take my advice: STOP READING THESE REVIEWS & PSYCHING YOURSELF OUT! JUST TRY IT. Can you imagine if I didn't? I'd still have toenail fungus & I'd still be upset."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have been on this medicine exactly a month. My right foot, which was affected, is having smooth skin, no itching. The nail is getting harder and better. I love the fact that when my foot touches the sheets, it is not snagging and is not itching. However, I have nausea, an upset stomach, some headaches, I feel tired, and my skin on my face is very sensitive, the slightest scratch swells it up and makes it red. I have a rash on my upper hard palate that just came on yesterday. I want to finish the course, I will have to see. I wish there was a single shot that would take care of this. Why is there such a tedious fungus that has to be eradicated in this fashion?"

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Part 2) Still frustrated by toenail fungus. In June 2017, I asked a foot doctor to prescribe generic Lamisil. Less than a week after I started taking it, I started getting fevers and chills, my urine turned dark, I had a loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, and felt itchy all over. I felt terrible but hoped I could get through it by taking Advil for the fevers/chills and Benadryl for the itching. Then I got a rash on my upper body again. None of the other side effects were going away. I discontinued use. Lab work showed my liver count was high. After a few days off terbinafine, all negative side effects have stopped. I will go back for lab work again next week and expect it to show my liver function to be normal. Use caution with this drug!"

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "My comments will be in 2 parts. Part 1) I've had fungus on my big toenails for the last 20+ years and have tried everything. In 2012, my primary doctor prescribed generic Lamisil (Terbinafine), which I took for about a month without issue. At refill time, the pharmacy changed to a different Terbinafine provider and told me not to be surprised by the difference in the appearance of the pills. After a week, I developed a rash on my upper body accompanied by fevers and chills. My doctor ordered me to discontinue the Terbinafine pills, and the symptoms ended. At the time, it wasn't clear if I had simply had an allergic reaction to a new ingredient in the second batch of Terbinafine pills. Regardless, I discontinued the pills, and my fungus never cleared."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have had a toenail fungus for 10 years on 1 big toenail. I finally decided to try the generic Lamisil after refusing to take it from hearing about possible liver damage. After taking it for 2 weeks, I developed an itchy, red, bumpy rash on my back, chest, and neck. I am now using a prescription steroid cream on my skin for the next 2 weeks to help with this rash! I guess there's no hope in getting rid of this fungus. My dermatologist said to try Vick's Vaporub every day, 2x a day to see if that helps..."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "Prescribed Lamisil tablets by Dr. for fungal nail in one big toe. Told I would be tested once a month to ensure my liver is okay and would be on tablets for 6 to 9 months. First month okay, my liver is okay. Nail was getting better. Week 5 I started itching bad 24/7 all over, worst itch of my life. I would wake needing to itch dozens of times a night. I cried so much due to discomfort. I also got a bad rash from my chest down all over. Nothing was easing me. I stopped Lamisil tablets after 3 days of itch and rash. Then 4 days later, I went to Dr. as the itch was still bad. Dr. said I must be allergic to Lamisil. I was told to have a shower daily with Nizoral shampoo to help my rash and itch, but it didn’t help. Got Betnovate cream, told to use sparingly long-term. It helped rash a little. I was given 4 different allergy tablets. The only one that helped was Piriton. It took 9 weeks before my symptoms eased. The Lamisil was covered by my medical card in Ireland. But the Piriton was not. On the first day of Piriton use, it makes me sleepy."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "Prior to starting treatment with terbinafine for fungal toenails, I read reviews and researched. I figured since I'm not everyone else, our bodies and side effects are different, so I decided to try it. Well, I'm glad I did. My last month of dosage was in May. My nails, especially my big toes, have cleared up significantly and are no longer thick and yucky looking. Results don't happen overnight. My only side effects were drowsiness at times, not enough to affect my daily activities. I got hives twice, but this wasn't my first time taking medication, so I already knew how to combat it. My tests always came back normal, even with me having a few drinks on the weekends. If you're having issues, you knew the risk of taking it just like I did. Now my nails haven't completely grown out because I keep cutting them to continually treat the nail bed with remedies. Hopefully, when I revisit the doc, I won't have to take another dose. It can take a full year, so we'll see. Meanwhile, I'm highly satisfied with my results so far."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I'm on week 2, and I feel terrible! My stomach is in knots, I have a rash on my neck, can't sleep, taking antacids daily due to an acidic taste in my mouth. I've gained weight and lost my sense of taste. Symptoms gradually worsen the longer I take it. I can hardly move today. :'( .... the tough part is my nails look better! Do I tough it out in misery or opt for a topical solution?"

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "For those of you that experience a rash with the medication, try filling it at a different pharmacy. I had the rash, and it was pretty severe. A new podiatrist said that it could be from the fillers in the pill, and she had luck with switching patients to a different generic. Worked for me!!"

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "Unfortunately, this medicine gave me horrible hives. Instead, I tried a mixture of Vicks VapoRub and athlete's foot medicine, as recommended by my husband's doctor. Twice a day. Worked fantastic. Took about 6 to 8 months, but toes are now clear and healthy. Save your money."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "After a month of taking this for a toenail infection, I got a very bad rash over my entire body. It spread so quickly and became painful, so I went to the ER, where they confirmed it was a reaction to terbinafine. I went to a dermatologist who gave me a shot and put me on prednisone for 30 days and gave me some corticosteroid cream. After three weeks and merciless skin peeling, my skin is almost back to normal. I was not able to take it long enough to help my toenails. I cannot recommend this medicine."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "Took the medicine for almost a month with no problems. Two days before the first month, my elbows started to itch, and that was it. That night, I fell asleep and woke up at 2 am with my body burning. I had hives all over my body. Kept me up until 4:30 am or so for three days straight. This is the third day that I have had this happen. Been itching myself this entire time, typing this, making it more aggravating. Stopped the medicine the next morning and have still had the same. Hives, swollen hands and feet, and short of breath are the main side effects, but more were noticed, such as loss of appetite or dizziness. Do not recommend this drug. I have never been in this much pain before, and for a medicine to be the culprit. #Notworthit #Itchy #hives #swolleneverything"

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I took this drug for 14 days. I wish I would have never taken it. The rash that I have gotten from it has been happening for 6 weeks after I stopped taking it. It will show up somewhere on my body for about 30 minutes and then goes away only to show up somewhere else. I could take my fingernail lightly on my skin and you can see the welts form. I even took my fingernail lightly on my leg and wrote my name. Immediately, it came up in welts. Freaked my doctor out as I did it in front of her, and within a minute you could see it. It is out of your bloodstream in about 4 days after you stop taking it, but it stays in your skin, which is the largest organ of your body, and fingernails for up to 3 months. You might decide to take it after reading the negative experiences others have had, but remember, the bad things that can happen will last for months! Is your situation really worth the risk?"

For Tinea Corporis "I was prescribed terbinafine for a tinea versicolor rash across my back and shoulders. It wasn't very noticeable, but it irritated me in a cosmetic sense. My doctor put me on a two-month terbinafine plan. I have taken the medicine once a day orally for about three weeks. As soon as I started taking it, I felt itchy all the time and urinated more than usual. Then one Monday morning, I woke up covered in hot, itchy hives everywhere. It's been three days now, the hives are still there, my upper and lower eyelids are swollen and my hands and feet are swollen to the point of pain. I'd imagine I'm allergic."

For Tinea Pedis "I used this on a tinea problem on my eleven-year-old. Initially, it was extremely itchy, and I thought he was just being wimpy (shame on me as a parent), as he later developed a strong case of hives on the legs, which was exacerbated by swimming at a swimming pool. A strong red rash and hives resulted, before settling. He took an antihistamine tablet, with no further problems since."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I've been taking terbinafine for 7 days now, and it has been awful. I am breaking out in a super bad rash and hives, and I also have headaches along with loss of appetite. I have the rash/hives on my arm constantly all day, and allergy medicine is not helping very well. Half of the top part of my toenail has started to fall off, but the bottom of my nail is showing some improvement."

Terbinafine for Onychomycosis, Toenail "I was prescribed Lamisil for my toenails by my doctor and it said to take it every day for three months and no alcohol. Then after one month, I started itching. Then I got a rash, but I stuck to it. Still going once a month to check my liver. I realized the rash was from the medication removing all of my fungus from my body so I endured it. The rash went away and not only that all my toenails grew out new, my skin was all around better. The warts on my fingers disappeared too. I am very pleased with this super drug. It’s been ten years now, and nothing has returned. Loved it... P.S. I don’t get dandruff anymore either. I recommend this stuff, just endure it, don’t stop or you have to begin again. Plus, no alcohol while you take it for three months."
