For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have seen zero effects after 7 weeks of 1 mg nightly dosage. I've read where this should be having a noticeable effect between 2-4 weeks, but still have extremely weak flow and incomplete bladder emptying."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I started terazosin at 2 mg, went to 5 mg, as it was losing effectiveness. Stayed with 5 mg for about three years. Am currently taking 10 mg. I’ve had some minor side effects such as a rash on my back and nasal stuffiness. Main problem is drowsiness after I wake up in the morning and lasting sometimes until 10-11 AM. I’m going to ask my doctor if we can decrease to about 7 mg to see if that helps with the drowsiness problem. Otherwise, it works well with my urinating flow and frequency problem."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I've been on the medication for thirty-five years. I’m a Black man in my mid-70s, and it's worked quite well for me. The dosage has been upped over the years. I now take 20 mg per day, and if I miss a dose, the flow slows within 12 hours. I take mine at bedtime, which seems to work best. We tried cutting the daily dosage in half for one month. The results were not good, so we went back to 20 mg. It's a drug that has served me well."

For Hyperhidrosis "Terazosin has saved my personal and professional life! I was sweating spontaneously under stress or anxiety and every night while sleeping, no matter how cold the temperature. It was perimenopause and menopause symptoms that could not be treated with hormones. This has done the trick for me! It started at 1mg at night then upped to 2mg twice a day for 10 years. Now the dosage is 5mg twice daily. I can still feel “heat” but not excessive sweat on my body."

"I'll be 47 next month, and I've been taking terazosin since I was in my 20s. They started me on Flomax, which worked for a bit, then I went back to having to pee numerous times a day and night with a major struggle just to get my flow started, and then it was just dribbles. I was started on 5 mg once a day, and it worked great for years. I had to, about 3 years ago, have my dosage increased to 10 mg a day. Works great. I still have what I call my bad days every once in a while, but in my opinion, that's to be expected. No major side effects, just a little dizziness once in a while standing up quickly. I've had to go 2-3 days without a couple of times because I couldn't get a hold of the doctor's office. Bladder and stomach become hard as a rock and painful, right down to the boys being tender to the touch. But get my meds, and within an hour, back to flowing like a fire hose. This med has worked great for me for the past 20-plus years."

"I've tried 2 different alpha blockers, and both have the same effect: headache and dizziness, but it does help with urine flow. At 63, I have normal BP, this medicine, unfortunately, makes me hypotensive."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Started with 6 mg over 10 years ago, increasing to current 8 mg. Urologist changed prescription to 0.4 mg tamsulosin a few months ago. Tamsulosin relaxed the prostate to where it remained relaxed and caused urine leakage. Terazosin worked better for me, and I asked the urologist to change the prescription. With both medications, I urinate 4-6 times between midnight and 3 a.m. I sleep well after 3 a.m. I have much better control during the day with terazosin. I have no side effects."

Terazosin for Hyperhidrosis "Works great! It has stopped the extreme sweating that was occurring from a side effect of Effexor. Anyone who is taking Effexor and has severe sweating problems, this medication works great."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Poison for me. Did not work, and side effects have not stopped even after discontinuation of use. *Dizziness: to the point of having to lie down-several times a day. *Digestive: weight gain. Feeling bloated and belly extension, even when hungry. *Headache: less often now, yet more prevalent than ever had before. I'm usually tolerant of most medications. This was not the case with this. Been off for a month and still having side effects, especially digestive. I'd be careful if this is of concern to you."
