Terazosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been on Hytrin for at least 20 years. Started at 1 mg daily. It helped my flow immediately. Now at the age of 84, I am on 15 mg. It still works pretty well. I have occasionally had episodes of low blood pressure leading to dizziness, but I'm not sure whether that is from Hytrin or other blood pressure medicine I take. My blood pressure seems to fluctuate a lot. Again, I don't know the cause(s)."

Terazosin for High Blood Pressure "Have been using Hytrin for about a year. It has lowered my blood pressure, helps me sleep and urinate, and able to empty my bladder. Has not affected my sex life at all. Have woken and been dizzy, but I am able to slow myself and watch where I am going."

Terazosin for High Blood Pressure "Well, I have blood pressure that is normally high, but sometimes normal. I have only been on Hytrin for a few days. The first day it made me very dizzy and feel very bad. My blood pressure went from an average of 160's/90's to 110's/60's. I am only on 1 mg. I have only been taking a 1/2 mg since the first day."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Terazosin controls my somewhat high blood pressure and moderately improves my benign prostatic hyperplasia symptoms at 5 mg, 3X/day. I have found that just missing one dose (after 8-10 hrs after the last dose) reduces urinary flow rate, but still a bit above flow before taking this medicine. I am not experiencing any significant side effects unless I take terazosin in conjunction with a muscle relaxant for arthritis pain in back and neck pain. Then I have experienced some dizziness and low blood pressure. I have read that it may take a couple of months before full effects on urinary symptoms occur. I have been taking terazosin for about 1-1/2 months at this dosage with little difference in the past month in flow. I previously tried doxazosin and tamsulosin with allergic side effects."

Terazosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been taking this for night trips to the bathroom. Started at 3 mg 2 years ago and just started slowly increasing to 10 mg. I stopped taking it due to the side effects of rapid pounding heartbeat, chest pains, dizziness, no real change in sexual functions, which is a good thing. Not a big change in night trips to the bathroom. Off to the doctor today."

For Hyperhidrosis "Also take for extreme facial sweating resulting as a side effect of antidepressants. Been taking for years after searching for relief and finding an online article mentioning a study of terazosin for this purpose. Sometimes works well in sweat reduction, sometimes not at all, but better than nothing. Tried Drysol topical, but my skin is too sensitive. Curious what mg dosage others take. I take 2 mg x 2 after driving into work, as I think it contributes to dizziness, likely along with other meds."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Poison for me. Did not work, and side effects have not stopped even after discontinuation of use. *Dizziness: to the point of having to lie down-several times a day. *Digestive: weight gain. Feeling bloated and belly extension, even when hungry. *Headache: less often now, yet more prevalent than ever had before. I'm usually tolerant of most medications. This was not the case with this. Been off for a month and still having side effects, especially digestive. I'd be careful if this is of concern to you."

"I'll be 47 next month, and I've been taking terazosin since I was in my 20s. They started me on Flomax, which worked for a bit, then I went back to having to pee numerous times a day and night with a major struggle just to get my flow started, and then it was just dribbles. I was started on 5 mg once a day, and it worked great for years. I had to, about 3 years ago, have my dosage increased to 10 mg a day. Works great. I still have what I call my bad days every once in a while, but in my opinion, that's to be expected. No major side effects, just a little dizziness once in a while standing up quickly. I've had to go 2-3 days without a couple of times because I couldn't get a hold of the doctor's office. Bladder and stomach become hard as a rock and painful, right down to the boys being tender to the touch. But get my meds, and within an hour, back to flowing like a fire hose. This med has worked great for me for the past 20-plus years."

"I've tried 2 different alpha blockers, and both have the same effect: headache and dizziness, but it does help with urine flow. At 63, I have normal BP, this medicine, unfortunately, makes me hypotensive."
