"About a week ago, my urologist started me on Flomax for urinary problems. I have muscular dystrophy and have to use my muscles maximally to do normal activities of daily living. Several days after starting Flomax I couldn't do many things I need to do every day. Flomax weakens ALL muscles, not just those near the prostate. DO NOT TAKE FLOMAX if you have muscular dystrophy. "I had difficulty urinating due to enlarged prostate. And also had urinary retention. Flomax solved my problem and I now have very strong stream and am easily able to void. Very relieved. The only downside is retrograde ejaculation. No semen comes out at all. But I'm not in any relationship and nor am I trying to get anyone pregnant so it isn't an issue for me"

"Helped somewhat with ruination, however sexual ejaculation got crazy and erection was short lived, even with Viagra. Dizziness is a very big problem, especially when golfing. Had a rash this morning just under my pectoral muscles, itching. I have been taking this med about 4-5 weeks. Call in to the Doc now, waiting....."

"After the invasive bladder exam, Wednesday I was prescribed Flomax. I went directly the pharmacy tho I was offered a cheaper generic, I took flomax. I took only 3 pills (the low dosage) over 3 days. I did not like it. I was provoked to urinate almost 30 times in 24 hours. It’s a gut punch -squeeze on your innards to get urine out, with forced straining, grimacing. It is hard to describe the discomfort / pain, and it lingers a little after. The genitals are sensitized by this drug. More sensitive than before, not good. Just no. After speaking to nurses and pharmacists (who went back and forth on this ) I stopped after 3 doses. I used sleeping pills to sleep through most of the last 3 nights. I couldn’t leave the house until yesterday because I’d have to go. The effects of the drug aren’t out of my system since taking the last dose on Sunday - today is Thursday night."

"I used Flomax for about 2 yrs. I woke up every hour to pee and could not wait, lack of sleep was making me tried and sleepy every morning. I lost the ability to hold back urine and wet my pants twice before quitting. I never saw any improvement with my symptoms %u2013 low flow, hard to start flow, stopped and started each time."

"I was prescribed Flomax several years ago and experienced only ejaculation problems. I'm 82 now and several of the many side effects have surfaced. 1. Rapid heartbeat as high as 167. 2. Low blood pressure (causing fainting symptoms). It doesn't seem to have affected my libido but the watery ejaculation is a nuisance. If you read the complete list of side effects you'll undoubtedly find yourself in there somewhere. Then you can make an informed decision on what's best for you. Me? I'm stopping as of right now!"

"Didn't work for me & bad side effects after cyberknife. No libido and painful or no ejaculation at all. Stopped & was ok. 16 months later developed a UTI BPH & bladder issues.Urgent Urination day & night started coming back about 8 weeks ago and Dr put me on Cialis 5 mg samples daily (insurance would not cover) for BPH & 500 mg of Cypro for UTI was ok then 1 week ago conditions worsened after running out of cialis for just a few days & started remaining Flomax again for 4 -5 days and went down hill really fast. I am now urinating 20 + times if not more.I Cant leave house literally. Can hit in 3 seconds My urine culture just came back negative and on 500 mg of cefuroxime. Started back on Cialis yesterday Brutal waiting for Doc to call"

"Flow has improved, but I have the equivalent of a permanent head cold. After two months, I have trouble breathing through my nose, and sleep fully. It's not worth it. I will try Avodart, and if that doesn't work, I will have surgery."

I took it for about a week , I suppose it might have helped remove the stone but I felt like crap Insomnia ,weakness, coughing, hiccuping constantly. Loss of appetite, foods just didn't appeal at all ,muscle pain, diarrhea, Thurs was my last pain, today is Monday i stopped taking them last Saturday I could not take another one. How anyone can be on these for weeks and months is beyond me"

"I was experiencing severe back pain, in which I was barely able to turn my head to the right or the left. I did an extensive research and found out that the probable cause was my prostate. I consulted with my Doctor who confirmed that it was my prostate. I asked my Doctor to explain the connection between my back and neck pain, but she got irritated. She prescribed Flomax, which has been a nightmare for me. After taking the Flomax I was able to pee more freely, which has been a problem for me. Now I cannot hold my urine for long when I want to pee. Secondly, I do have a dry orgasm. did some research and found out that Flomax will do this. It is irreversible. Based on reviews here, it confirms my fears."

".4mg! You’d figure nah thats nothing. But! After being on it for 4 months, I have never felt so crappy in my life. In March 22 I had covid. Thought “well must be have some long covid stuff happening here”. So I started troubleshooting and talking to groups here in Canada and I wasn't as “bad” as the others I spoke to. Then I started investigating. Coming here and reading the reviews I realized that the symptoms started the same time I started Dlomax. I stopped taking the med and within 72 hours ALL symptoms went away. ALL of them. My energy is back. I can breathe. I can maintain an erection. And release an amount of semen thats in line with before. So I figured go natural and stay natural with supplements and so far (for a mere 72 hours) has been amazing difference!! Take a med to relieve ONE problem and get 9 or 10 other problems? Nope. Besides if I need a little extra time to drain my bladder properly…the people waiting can do just that..wait!"

"Doctor asked me to try flomax as I was making five or six trips a night to the bathroom. I am a 72 year old man who was tired and needed help. I read the reviews and most on this site were negative to some degree. In my case having taken this drug for 3 weeks I have had no side effects and I am sleeping 7/8 hours without having to get up. In my case this drug works, I hope the benefits are long lasting. I am reviewing this drug as a contributor to the national health service of the UK and as such payment is not required."

"Was give flowmax on Monday to help with frequent trips to bathroom. On Tuesday my tooth started hurting so I went to the Dentist only to be sent home with hope that it will just go away. The pain got worse and so intense that Thursday I went back to the Dentist who said he could see no reason for the pain so sent me to a specialist dentist 100 miles from my house. I had xrays hot and cold treatments and was sent home with more pain pills. I ONLY TOOK TWO FLOMAX PILLS, ONE MONDAY AND ONE TUESDAY . ON THE DRIVE HOME MY PAIN STARTED TO GO AWAY . I CALLED THE DR THAT GAVE ME THE FLOMAX HE SAID STOP CAN CAUSE TOOTH PAIN."

"Not effective half of the time; causes me to feel like the room is spinning; doesn't always get bladder fully emptied; makes me feel weak and tired at least half the time; occasional urinary incontinence; loss of sexual desire and poor erections; often makes me feel nervous or apprehensive."

"I just started this, and then read reviews here. I'm REALLY concerned. One guy said that he has good luck taking Flo Max every other day. If he reads this, do you get the side effects of sexual dysfunction, like every single other guy has mentioned here? I decided to try this and it seems to be working so far. Has anyone stopped this and had their sexual functioning return to normal? I wonder if this is just an effect of lowered blood pressure. Besides, I cannot afford this stuff. I've done a lot of research on natural alternatives. I'm going to try these, and at least right now am optimistic, as user reviews are very positive."

"Has made urination easier and less urgent. The only side effect has been retrograde ejaculation. Kind of an odd feeling and no semen in the condom. There is some cloudiness in the urine with the first urination after sexual intercourse. After getting used to the feeling, sex is as pleasurable as it has always been."

"Used flomax for a long time and it worked great for me used to get up 5 times a night, then after using flomax maybe once or twice - then my company raised the price from 75. 00 to 495. 00 for 3 months. Then they said they had a generic for 30. 00 for 3 months. Am on the generic and it does not work."

"My experience is bang on great! I rarely get up at night and my flow is excellent, no pain, no dribbles etc. I take about 4 pills that will lower my blood pressure, plus morphine which does interact with Flomax, but I lowered my morphine dose and spread it out more and it works great. I was worried about insomnia but all is well there. I had a vasectomy 13 years ago which when combined with Flomax may cause low ejaculate. Flomax works great for me and my life has improved considerably."

"It is essential to read all the adverse effects others have suffered and the alternatives that worked for them. I am an old man over 80 years old and have been on Flomax for years with no side effects. We are all different, so that is to be expected. I have several friends who also use Flomax. Not once has the subject of side effects come up, and I must assume they don’t have them. One is a “complainer” and would undoubtedly say something. A year ago, I got covid and survived easily. I have had worse colds, and I have several of the high-risk characteristics and was surprised it wasn’t worse. Since then, I have experienced a stuffy nose, which is minor and not an issue for me. I must assume that it is related to the covid, not Flomax. For each person who has a negative side effect, I assume that there could be dozens or hundreds who don’t."

"I posted previously ( i think here?) about my dissatisfaction with Flomax, and the pain and discomfort it caused me during the 3 days (3 doses) I took it and the 5 days after I stopped taking it, thinking I was experiencing residual effects. Turns out I had a UTI infection due to the cytoscopy. Be sure to get antibiotics after cytoscopys, before starting flomax, avoiding much pain & discomfort. I might give Flomax another try, will consult with additional doctors before!"

"I have used Flomax for a year. It has reduced the urgency and improved flow. Initially, it inhibited sex drive, but I got used to it and am back to nearly normal. My doctor has recommended Rapaflo. One improvement may be sleeping better. I now have trouble getting back to sleep after my once per night pee trip."

"I have been on Flomax and a catheter for 2 weeks. Had the catheter removed today. Only a few drops come out. Basically retaining all urine. Had to go back on a catheter the same day it was removed. The urologist only does the kind of surgery I want once a month. Looks like I may be on a catheter till March. No pain...just discomfort from catheter. Flomax seems to be causing me problems in the morning. It takes at least an hour or more just to get out of bed. When I rise to sit on the side of the bed my BP is good. But when I stand my BP goes to 9x/6x. I would pass out if I remained standing. I must lay down to regain a decent BP. Flomax plus aspirin are the only drugs I was taking. But I stopped the aspirin 2 days ago. Now only Flomax."
