For Bacterial Skin Infection "I got this for an infected toe I had. I'm supposed to take 2 pills a day for 10 days. I'm nauseous, I don't have an appetite, severe muscle pain, headaches, dizziness, and dry mouth. This was too strong of a dose for me."

For Urinary Tract Infection "This medicine is absolutely awful. I am on a 7-day dose, and the first 3 days were okay for the most part (maybe because I was also prescribed a medicine similar to Azo), however, yesterday was day 4, and I had no appetite and felt very nauseous. Now I’m on day 5 and still have no appetite, still a little nauseous, but now accompanied with a fever of 101.7. I had to leave work and am now bedridden on New Year’s Eve. The only reason I gave it any stars at all is because it seems to be clearing the infection, and it’s actually helped with my headaches. But I’ll take a headache over this. If you can, get a different antibiotic because this stuff is awful."

For Prostatitis "Ok, so I went to the doc because I was having some funny pains downstairs. Told me he thought it might be some kind of infection, prescribed sulfa, and off I went, not thinking much of it at all. After 3 days, I told my wife I didn’t feel right, was shaky, had no appetite, nothing tasted good, I couldn’t sleep, had severe anxiety that I’ve never experienced before with two hardcore panic attacks, and I also had some thoughts of suicide, especially on New Year’s Day. My last dose was Dec 4, and I dealt with the side effects till early February. For 3 to 4 weeks, my body felt like it was poisoned. I don’t know if this medicine even helped because everything else was so bad it took my attention away from the pain."

For Urinary Tract Infection "This antibiotic has been the worst experience of my life. After just a day of taking it, I had severe anxiety and panic attacks, no appetite, and horrible headaches. I should have stopped right away. I made it three days and stopped. I’ve been off it now for a couple of weeks, things got better once I got off, but there have been some long-term side effects with the anxiety (I didn’t have before). I’m working through it one day at a time."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "Never had any allergic reactions to medicine before, but after starting this for an infection on my foot, over the course of 7 days, I had severe headaches (which I almost never get), fever, chills, body aches, insomnia, dry cough, loss of appetite, and nausea. Was meant to take this for 3 more days, but after calling my doctor, they okayed me to stop. Been off it 12 hours and am already feeling better."

For Kidney Infections "Was prescribed sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim for a kidney infection. I couldn't wait to take it as I was in a lot of pain. The 2nd day of taking it, the pain was completely gone and I felt great. Day 3 is another story. Currently lying in bed with severe anxiety. I actually feel like I'm going nuts. It is now 3:30 a.m., and I went to bed at 11:30 p.m. and not one bit tired. Have completely lost my appetite. I haven't eaten in 3 days, really just nibbles here and there, and that's just forcing myself. Do not like this drug at all :("

For Urinary Tract Infection "I've been taking this for five days and started getting flu-like symptoms, including sore throat, fever, chills, headache, nausea, lack of appetite, burning eyes when I close them, slight sensitivity to light (my computer screen). I've just read others share the same experience, so I thought it would be necessary for me to share my experience as well."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I was prescribed the liquid oral form for a skin ulcer. Made me so sick to my stomach. I was supposed to take it twice a day, but after 5 doses, I just couldn’t stand the bad heartburn anymore. Had a severe panic attack on day two and no appetite for the three days I did take it. It did start healing my ulcer, so not sure if it will reopen back up. Never again. I’ll request something different if I need to."

For Acne "On for 6 months now. Experiencing a lot of the side effects mentioned here, only now connecting it. I have generalized anxiety disorder, so it’s not unusual for me to experience anxiety, but over the last few months, I’ve had frequent panic attacks (something that I haven’t had for a long time prior). I’ve also been incredibly depressed, at times suffering from deep and dark depression. I noticed my panic kicks up about an hour after taking a dose. Like others, I’ve had no appetite (although I’ve been drinking tons of water, which I usually hate) and haven’t slept a full, uninterrupted night in a few months. I also feel really disconnected from reality. On the other hand, my skin has improved markedly. The times I do start to get a sore/beginning of infection, it clears within a day or two. I haven’t had any bouts of cellulitis (which I had 3 times last year) while on this med. I’m just not sure the cost outweighs the benefits for me at this point."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I take a daily oral chemo pill for leukemia that gives me muscle spasms, bone pain, and nausea that comes and goes. Unfortunately for me, there are only so many medications I can take that DON'T interact with my chemo pill. With that said, I was prescribed this medication to take 2x a day for 10 days. I'm now on day 4, and have had constant pain in my arms and upper back, muscle spasms all over, so sleepy, tired, nausea, and no appetite. I dread every single dose of this medication, and I still have 6 days to go."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I had a UTI and was placed on this drug. First day of taking this drug, severe stomach pain, loss of appetite, dizziness, headache. Called the doctor and they said, well, you're going to feel sick a little bit, the drug is just fighting the infection-keep taking it. Second day of taking it, still had a headache, stomach pain, loss of appetite, dizziness, feeling out of it, felt drugged. Third day, same thing. Fourth day, all the same symptoms, but then muscle weakness and a spiking fever came, I have had the fever the fifth, sixth, and also the last day. I’ve been taking Advil every 8 hours just to keep the fever at bay. One more pill, and I’m done-never ever putting this in my body again. The only benefit is that the UTI is gone."

For Bacterial Infection "Lovin' it! I am about 5 days into the stuff. Prescribed to me for UTI that cleared up in 2 days from this. Sulfameth/TMP is a SUPERPILL. 1. No more UTI 2. No appetite - I barely eat more than a piece of fruit a day. Losing weight. 3. No thirst. I am drinking a little but maybe 30 oz a day. (24 oz Monster, 6 oz water to take my 2 AM/PM doses). Don't feel at all dehydrated, unless I go out in the sun. 4. Stress and anxiety gone. And I was majorly stressed. 5. 40+ years sinus congestion gone. Only side effect is sweating when I sleep really badly. Oddly only at night, guess I detox more then. I feel more energy and alive than ever. Don't make me stop."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed this medication to treat testicular epididymitis infection with possible prostate involvement. The meds seemed to start working within a few days, and after 2 1/2 weeks, most symptoms are much resolved, but not completely. However, the drug produced dreadful nausea, lack of appetite, and fatigue. I had to break the pills in half and take 4 half doses per day. Pepto Bismol seems to help with nausea."

For Urinary Tract Infection "C. koseri in urine culture. Course: 480 mg 2x daily for 7 days. It was a generic from Apotex called sulfatrim. Right away, I have to ask, how difficult is it to coat the tablets in thin gelatin knowing that they are so irritating? They irritated my tongue, so I had to dip the tablets in olive oil before taking them. My stomach was on fire, letting acid and bile reach up to my throat. I quickly lost most of my appetite. However, 2 tablespoons of Pepto Bismol before each tablet (food alone never helped) solved this issue too. Lastly, there was neurotoxicity. Unfortunately, I am sensitive in this respect to many antibiotics. There is nothing to do about it. I had to manage through night sweats, insomnia, vivid dreams, and weird perception of the world. At the same time, the medication made me very relaxed, which was nice. After frank hallucinations on Clavulin, this did not make me worry much."

For Bacterial Infection "Yeah, so here I am on my first dose, and I'm already Googling why I feel like this. Loss of appetite, insomnia, heart beating fast, and just feeling awful. I have 15 mins until I take the next one, and I have been dreading it, but after reading these reviews, I think I'll pass and call the doctor back and ask for something different or just take one a day instead of two a day."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I went to the ER for pain in my lower back and my stomach. The doctor said I had a UTI, which I didn't think was the case because I didn't have the symptoms of a UTI. Anyway, I started using the pills (antibiotics), and about an hour after using them, I felt nauseous, dizzy, and started vomiting, itched all over my body, and also I lost my appetite. I threw the pills away, I don't recommend them at all. I have never been allergic to any medication in my life."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "So I’ve been taking this medicine for 8 days now. I got a staph infection on my areola from an open wound on it. Anyway, I was fine until day 2 and got super nauseated, but it’s bearable. On day eight, it’s just loss of appetite and super bad heartburn, but also bearable. I’ve been having a hard time sleeping on this, but when I do start dozing off, I’m dead to the world, and everything feels weird, lol. Medications aren’t meant to be pleasant, so I can’t complain. On a side note, it made the infection almost completely disappear. It’s still pink and scabby looking, but two more days should do the trick!"

Sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim for Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed Bactrim DS 2x a day for a UTI that wouldn’t go away after trying to treat it with cranberry. I became horrendously ill after the 2nd pill, muscle aches, muscle weakness, dizziness, rapid heart rate, feeling faint, and feeling like I couldn’t concentrate. Tried calling my doctor to ask if I could go down to one pill a day as 2 felt too much, they didn’t call me back until 3 days later because of the weekend. By then, I took it upon myself to only take one pill a day, and my doctor said that was a good decision. With one pill a day, the most I felt was a slight headache and slight loss of appetite, but my UTI symptoms continued to get worse, so I was put on Cipro. Praying the Cipro works for me now."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I took my first tablet 4 days ago and began to lose my appetite within 12 hours. The past 3 days I have been incredibly nauseous and unable to look at anything (TV and computer screens) because I get motion sickness. While it quickly zapped my UTI symptoms, it has made me unable to do anything mobile. I am stopping this today because I haven’t eaten nor been able to drink water or fluids in 3 days."

For Middle Ear Infections "Sulfamethoxazole with trimethoprim combo antibiotic is the worst medicine for an ear infection, and the doctor gave me this sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim 800 mg/160 mg to use twice a day. The first 2 days, I felt like vomiting, loss of appetite. Day 2 to 4: I felt tired, minor headache, constipation, and loss of appetite still. Day 5 to 9: this period is the worst. I got a high fever at night, hot flash, chill, shaky, killer headache, muscle pain, and my left shoulder became numb at night. My fever went from 100 deg F on day 5 to 103 deg F on day 9. I had to lay on 7 ice pads to keep the temp down. (Tylenol and Advil could not even control the fever when this drug was in.) I stopped using this med on the last day, and I felt like rebirth the next day. I visited my doctor back on the 7th day and asked for a change, but he didn't believe me. He asked me to do a COVID test, which I later did. My COVID test came back on the 10th day, and it was negative. I had no running nose, no coughing, and no sore throat during this time, so I know it wasn't a flu."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Prescribed 2x a day generic Bactrim DS for 5 days. Stopped after 3 days due to severe side effects that started 30 minutes after the first dose. Only plus, seems to have cured UTI, but I will never take this medicine again. Day 1: Severe nausea/vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, extremely dehydrated despite nonstop drinking water/Gatorade. Dry mouth, dry eyes, dry sensitive skin. Complete loss of appetite. Extreme weakness, couldn’t stand or walk, dizziness, loss of coordination. Brain fog, confusion, and stiff neck. Pressure in the base of the skull. Headache and muscle/joint pain all over. Hands trembling, shaking all over. Chills, hot/cold all day/night. Day 2: These symptoms amplified plus insomnia, anxiety, depression. Panic attacks upon waking up. Terrible vivid nightmares, night terrors, hallucinations, sleep paralysis. Sleep apnea and general trouble breathing. Swollen lips. Pins and needles, face numbness. Afraid to sleep because it felt like I was going to die. Back pain. Brain felt like it was swelling."
