For Urinary Tract Infection "So this is for all the people with terrible anxiety like me. Don't read the reviews to freak out. If you NEED to read them to prepare yourself, do it. So I got prescribed these for a UTI, 2 tablets a day for 7 days. Perfect, fine. Took about 3 days to start working, and now I feel generally okay, sorta burns in the morning, but it's whatever. Well, the only side effects that are noticeable are terrible indigestion that Tums don’t help, some light nausea (subsided with a probiotic), and anxiety. I generally have situational anxiety, so I was shocked as to why I was having daily panic attacks and overwhelming anxiety almost all day long until I realized it was certainly Bactrim. Macrobid gave me awful migraines, so this is a step in the better direction. Take it, some side effects are better than a kidney infection! Just make sure your doctor does a culture and a drug resistance test on your urine so it works!"

For Kidney Infections "I was prescribed this for a pilonidal cyst. Omg, I was sick to my stomach. I couldn't eat anything, then stomach cramps, but couldn't poop for a week! I called, and she said to continue. I finally ended up in the ER, and they said I should have never taken that! Yeah, wrong medicine. He gave me cipro and drained the cyst. Now, my kidney blood work is at GFR 3.8, I was fine before this! I'm so annoyed."

For Urinary Tract Infection "It worked and did its job in stopping my UTI pretty quickly, but at the same time, I was subjected to some of the worst side effects I've ever had. I was having terrible constipation and bloating, and I couldn't sleep some nights from the pounding headaches and nausea. To add insult to injury, on the last day of taking it, I had a delayed allergic reaction to sulfa. This stuff was worse than my actual UTI. Please ask for any other antibiotic."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I am generally very sensitive to medications, and antibiotics usually make me feel awful. I had never had Bactrim DS before, and I've had reactions to several other antibiotics in the past, some just unpleasant, some possibly life-threatening-unpleasant to life-threatening. I research everything before I take it, and I had some serious anxiety after reading some of the reviews here. With the 1st day's doses, I ate a full meal, drank tons of water (which I was doing anyway), took probiotics between doses, and braced myself for the worst. I was tired for a couple of days and very mildly nauseous, but that was it. By the last dose (5-day course), I was only eating a small snack with it and no nausea at all. Unfortunately, it didn't cure the UTI. Symptoms did improve for a while. Doc is culturing urine now and put me on Macrobid until we know. Hoping for another easy ride with that. Feel better, everyone!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have bad side effects from all antibiotics, which is why I ended up with a long-standing urinary tract infection. I was given Bactrim DS by my doctor. I was really afraid to take this medication, so I cut a pill in half. I also took 1/4 of a Phenergan to help with possible nausea. I was fine all day. No side effects at all until about 4 hours in. Then I developed extreme body aches, especially a stiff neck and a low-grade fever (which lasted 3 days). I didn't take another one, checked my urine with a dipstick, and it was clear. Unfortunately, the urinary tract infection came back the next day because I didn't take enough. I tried 1/4 of a pill and had the same side effects 4 hours later. No more of those for me. Going back to the doctor for something else."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I don't understand the bad reviews. I have been taking Bactrim since I was a kid, NEVER had a side effect and I had relief RIGHT AWAY. A UTI can cause nausea. Just take it with a lot of food & water and you'll be FINE!"
