For Constipation "Took this because I found it in the pantry and didn’t really know what it was. I followed all of the instructions though. About four hours after drinking a tea with this herb, my stomach became uneasy. It’s 2 AM, and I haven’t slept all night. HORRIBLE abdominal cramps, sweating, and nausea. NO BOWEL MOVEMENT even though it really feels like I have to. Horrible product, and I will never try again."

For Constipation "Took 2 senna tablets as directed at 10 pm, woke at 2 am, violent vomiting, nausea, the pain in my tummy was indescribable. Absolutely agony. Dragged myself to the hospital. Got lots of pain relief that dulled it a little but still quite sick. I would never use again, I wouldn’t advise anyone else to use either."

Senna for Constipation "I've taken Senokot before, and it usually works. This one time, though, I had severe side effects. Bad stomach cramping, grumbling, shooting pains, going to the bathroom every 7-10 minutes, burping like crazy, weak and nauseous, chest pains (what I imagined having a heart attack feels like), and watery stools. I've never experienced anything this bad before. I've never had a baby before, but I imagined this to be worse than labor pains, minus the giving birth part. I had so many things planned for the day, but I spent it curled up in a ball. The second day was better, less frequent bathroom breaks, but when I ate something, it started again. I honestly considered calling 911. Hopefully, the third day is better. I'd give it a five for the side effects. I've only taken two this time, before, I used to take four, and nothing like this happened before. Take with caution, seriously."

For Constipation "Have had senna consistently recommended as management for bowel problems related to incomplete SCI. It has not worked very well. Severe bloat, nausea, horrific stool consistency, and incomplete emptying have been primary issues. Also seems to dry out membranes, causing bleeding, and I feel anxious and generally off while using. Stool does move, but the side effects have been basically awful. Need to find something that works much better and is easier on my body."

Senna for Constipation "I would not recommend. I took one tablet after not having a bowel movement in around 4 days, and 6 hours later got the worst diarrhea I've ever had in my life, think liquid, explosive, and painful. It happened on and off for a few hours and was terrible because I had just had surgery and was not the most mobile. I also had unbearable abdominal cramping to the point of nausea. I was surprised by this reaction since it seemed like a safe bet of a stool softener, and my chemist recommended it highly."

For Constipation "I have been constipated for about two weeks, so I decided senna was the way to go. I took 4 pills at 5 pm, at 1 am, I woke up with cramping. The cramps were so bad, I ended up throwing up. I tried to go down the stairs to get some nausea pills and water. On my way down, a cramp was so bad I passed out. I fell and ended up breaking my nose and needing 10 stitches. Needless to say, I had a bowel movement, but I am throwing it out the second I’m out of the hospital."

Senna for Constipation "Taken Senokot a couple of times the past few weeks and found it to be effective with little to no side effects. Took only one yesterday at 8 a.m., it kicked in at 3 p.m. and ohhh boyyy. I visited the toilet 7 times in the space of a few hours, I had horrendous stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting and couldn't hold anything down all day. It is now 5 p.m. the following day and I still have cramping, similar to food poisoning. Yes, it will clear out the pipes, but is it worth it to feel like this? Will stick to Ducolax in the future!"

For Constipation "Took psyllium husk fiber capsules that contained senna for constipation. Although the regular psyllium husk works well, the senna does not agree with me. It did work well, but I have some unpleasant reactions: nausea, headache, loss of appetite, tachycardia. Very unpleasant. Will stay with the standard psyllium husk."

For Constipation "It is not always a quick fix and sometimes I have to take it a few days for it to work. I've had to take these due to other medication causing bad constipation. I have always followed what the packet says and took 2 before bed. It hasn't woken me up with cramps or anything like that. Sometimes the next day I felt a little drained, but this is the usual feeling you get from constipation and the feeling building up to needing to pass stool anyway, so I just took it that it was getting me nearer to needing to go. I'm shocked at some people's comments saying they have taken several tablets and it made them feel ill or have bad cramps, it's no surprise to feel like that if you take more than it tells you to take. Also, it is quite normal to have a very liquid stool, as this is caused by a hard stool blocking the way, and the liquid stool forces its way past, and you will then need to go again soon after as the rest then finds it easier. It is all predictable though, and you can get to a bathroom in time."

For Constipation "Senna is absolutely horrible. I took 2 at night before I went to sleep. Maybe it was too much for my body to handle. Woke up this morning, didn't feel as bad, but around 10:30 am, I vomited all fluids. Thought it was meant to make me poop, not vomit. I had really bad stomach pains and nausea, which I hope eventually subsides as I don't want the pain tomorrow."

Senna for Constipation "OMG, awful tablets! Made me cramp at 2 am, which woke me up, and then the drama started. Drink water and try a more natural approach! No way I could take this daily! It's not a nice feeling! And tad nauseated."

Senna for Constipation "I took two pills of the Senna Lax about 5 hours ago, at like 3:30 a.m. Before that, I'd been on and off constipated and gone to the hospital twice for severe nausea and stomach cramps. These pills worked within an hour for me, even though it says it takes 8-12 hours to kick in. The stomach cramping hasn't bothered me yet because I've had stomach cramps for almost a week now. So, sadly, I'm already used to it. I've had 3 bowel movements within the last 4 hours. I was kind of scared to take it too because of the side effects and my history with horrible IBS. But so far, so good."

For Constipation "TL;DR Took 1-2 pm on 4/10. As of 4/11, HORRIBLE gas pains that didn’t produce much, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, etc. Still no BM. 0/10. A week ago, I got a severe concussion from a motorcycle accident. The pain relievers from the hospital stopped me up. I took the dosage of 2 tabs 1-2 pm yesterday. I already haven’t been sleeping due to head pain. It is now 7 am, and I still haven’t slept. I’ve been in my bathtub crying since like 12-1 am. HORRIBLE gas pains that didn’t produce much, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, etc. While I type this, I’m sitting on the toilet, yet to have any BM. I feel I’ve taken this before and the same thing happened. I just didn’t remember and made the same mistake again."

For Constipation "After taking senna for constipation, the next evening I started having cramps. Then the cramps worsened (scale of 1-10, pain was a 9). My stomach was making gurgling noises, so I tried to sleep it off. However, the cramps were so bad, they were waking me up every 2-3 minutes. About 2 a.m., I felt very cold and started shaking and realized that I had the chills. I made my way to the bathroom, so I could take a hot shower and bring my body temperature back up, but then I started to feel nauseous. I was heaving and gagging, but didn't have any food in my system. Then I got the chills the second day again. I sat out in the sun to warm myself up, but I started gagging and throwing up outside. It's been 3 days and I still feel slight cramping and I'm still not 100%. Sometimes I feel like I have a slight fever and my stomach is still extended. Never again..."

For Constipation "Read many comments here wondering if anyone has had this experience. The bottle said to take 2 at night for up to 7 days. BM came after about 14 hours, preceded by mild lower abdominal cramping. I decided to take 2 more days to be sure everything was out. 2nd dose pain got worse, but I continued to poop. Third night, I decided to only take one. Up all night in the bathroom with intense pain. Felt like I needed to go but couldn't. Leaned forward using the counter and jiggled my belly by bouncing my knees. After an hour, explosive diarrhea came. Lasted most of the day and the pain continued off and on, awful, debilitating. It's now a week later and I'm still having bouts of pain. Kept me up all night last night, and this time there was severe nausea along with dry heaves and sweating. I feel like senna has upset the balance of my system so badly it may never heal. On top of that, constipation is back. But the jiggling while in pain eventually causes the ex. diarrhea again."

For Constipation "Well, I like to think I have a cast-iron stomach and am rarely affected by things that I eat or medicines I take. Due to a different issue, I was prescribed some strong codeine-based tablets, along with a box of Senna. For two days now, I have suffered with pretty grim nausea and stomach cramping, especially after eating. Well, it's almost 11 pm, and it is once again making a reappearance. The penny has just dropped following reading some of these comments, and you guessed it, I've been taking Senna for two days. The pain is pretty bad, but the nausea is revolting...maybe just a coincidence? Not a chance. Accompanying my stomach pain and nausea has been a snappy bad temper too, no coincidence at all. I know this medicine is useful to many, but for me, it is obviously a big no-no. Just use your common sense ultimately, if it makes you ill, stop using it and try something else."
