For Constipation "It was a long 3 days of food eating in the Christmas holidays. None stop eating of diversified, cultural, gourmet food, that literally hardened like cement in my intestines blocking the only safe exit passage of excessive debris. Finally took one blue pill as a desperate measure for relieving myself like a normal human being feeling like a pig. Having farted a single time three hours later, I had to take my second blue pill and hope for the best. Will get back to you with an update report as soon as a major bowel evacuation occurs."

For Constipation "I just took a package of Senna laxative back to the drugstore and told them I felt like it almost killed me and there should be a big warning on the package. After taking as prescribed at night with lots of water, I woke with extreme cramping and nausea. I crawled to the bathroom where I lay on the floor because I was passing out. It was coming out of both ends and I had no control. I was sweating profusely and my heart was pounding in my chest. It was several hours before the feeling passed. It was terrifying, and I get the same reaction from any senna-based laxative. I don’t know why there isn’t a warning about this on senna medication."

Senokot (senna) for Constipation "I took two of these for constipation and saw no results nor did I have any bowel movement the first day. The next day I took two again and the flood gates opened but It was severe stomach cramps for about an hour and then began to ease after my bowels had opened. Then I got up and they started again. I took these maybe an hour or two before bed and woke up at 4:30 am. Bottom line it works well but causes extreme discomfort in the process."

Fletchers Castoria (senna) for Constipation "After getting out of the hospital following a heart attack, I was so constipated that nothing I tried would help me to have a bowel movement. I tried everything that others suggested, even ate prunes dried and boiled, finally, I found a bottle of children's castoria in my medicine closet that I kept there for my children. I took the Castoria, and was relieved to have a bowel movement within 12 hours. Thank you Castoria!!! The only side effect was that I have been regular ever since!"

For Constipation "I hadn't been to the bathroom for almost one week. My stomach was rock hard, and I felt so sick. I took three senna tablets at 7pm. At around 2am I woke up with the most horrible stomach cramps and gas. I lay on my left side with a cushion pressing into my cramping stomach until 5am I had the most intense urge to poo. I barely made it on the toilet.. I had explosive diarrhea. It was the most painful stomach cramps I have ever had, I sat on the toilet for an hour bent over my legs crying from the pain. I still feel sick and crampy at 6pm. It did get the poo out but it was horrifically painful."

Senokot (senna) for Constipation "Hi I couldn’t go toilet for more than a week (although I do suffer with constipation). I took Senokot at night and the next day (around 3pm I had the urge to go. I went three times roughly and hour apart and ended up with diarrhea??? I did feel relieved but still a week later I’m stuck again????"

For Constipation "Took 2 senna tablets as directed at 10pm, woke at 2am, violent vomiting, nausea, the pain in my tummy was indescribable. Absolutely agony. Dragged myself to hospital. Got lots of pain relief that dulled it a little but still quite sick. I would never use again, I wouldn’t advise anyone else to use either."

For Constipation "A doctor recommended I use Senna. He told me to keep taking 2 every night until I had a BM. Took about 2 nights but it worked. Because I have chronic constipation I often take it and it always works eventually."

For Constipation "I'd rather stay constipated than used this again! Used Coloxyl with Senna to treat 4-day constipation due to a viral stomach bug. Supposed to work in 8 hours but 4 hours after taking 1 tablet i got bad stomach pains, nausea and a general unwell feeling. Lasted all night and into the next morning."

Senokot (senna) for Constipation "I am a small female and I took 3 Senokot pills before bed , because taking just one in the past did not help at all. I had a bowel movement in the mid morning but very painful cramps on and off for next several hours. Would not recommend because of that."

For Constipation "I suffered from trauma and a subdural hematoma that landed me in the ICU and hospital for 5 days. I was started on narcotics and muscle relaxants for pain and was not very active, both lead to constipation. I was started on Purelax an osmostic stool softener that is mixed in 6-8ozs. of liquid once per day as well as Senna , two tablets/day approx. 10 hours apart. Used this way the combination worked great other than my first BM which needed manual removal. Once home I stayed on both until I was more mobile and gradually decreased to one tab per day and then no tabs and finally stopped the Purelax once I was somewhat back to my normal activity level. Like all meds, they have to me used properly and for the correct indication and application"

Senokot (senna) for Bowel Preparation "Worked very well. Took 2 of the tablets at about 10pm. When I woke up, bowel movement started around 10am. I had no chills, no side effects like a few of the other reviews, no nausea. Just completely cleared me out!"

Senokot (senna) for Constipation "The first time I took senokot it made me have a bowel movement within an hour but was ok. The second time I took one all hell broke loose. I don't know if having IBS plays a part in it but I get severely constipated and don't have bowel movements for up to a week sometimes but I took the senokot and once again within an hour I was on the toilet. I had a bowel movement. And then another. And another. In total 10 times since I've taken the pill over the course of the day. I have felt lightheaded all day and feel as though I am going to pass out every time I make my way to the toilet. I have barely eaten anything today just because my stomach is bothering me so much. Now trying to sleep but paranoid that I might end up needing to go for another bowel movement soon as my stomach is making some crazy noises. I would rather be constipated the side effects are not worth it I have been lying in bed all day unable to do anything at least when I am constipated I can still go on with my day to day"

For Constipation "I was recommended to take Senna-S but drug Mart said their brand Senna-lax was the same thing. I took 2 pills as directed and for the past 5 days I have had explosive constant diarrhea, black liquid, yellow mucous coming out non stop. Horrible stomach pain and can not eat and deathly afraid to eat. Made me feel worse than the flu. Have been in bed 4 days and I am Hospice patient so would never ever recommend this. I have had several colonoscopies and their preparation was no way as bad as this. I won't buy drug generics from any drug store again. Pay the regular price as the drug mart generics are not worth the results."

Senokot (senna) for Constipation "Whoa. Ok, it WILL produce a bowel movement. But you ain't gonna like it. It will also produce cramps, gas and an unpleasant feeling. Do not take this before going to work! I only took 2 pills and it hammered me. It is anything but gentle. Am throwing these out and sticking to stool softeners, no laxatives."

For Constipation "Senna totally works if you take the right amount, I see one girl took too much and experienced horrible cramps, yes you may get a little stomach pain but think about what's going on inside of your body, the best way after you use senna or if you don't find it works eat strawberries, papaya and blueberries on a little bit of shredded wheat cereal, more fruit than cereal... and continue to eat fruit, a ton like a full cereal or salad bowl full of strawberries blueberries papaya BlackBerries apples... in the morning! Food is medicine and fruit in the morning should be a requirement in life!"

Senokot (senna) for Constipation "Ok so I took two pills at 8pm to help with some constipation I’d been having for a couple weeks. Honestly, I didn’t really look into it before buying it. I’d never taken a laxative before, and didn’t really think about how they work. So after I took the pills, I googled it. The reviews scared me to death. They read “explosive diarrhea, extreme cramping, vomiting......then more explosive diarrhea.” Not the stuff dreams are made of. I was so scared. The next day I was to have a 7 hour car ride with family and I thought for sure I’d be stopping and exploding diarrhea all day. I packed toilet paper, Imodium and Advil. What I got her period-like cramps, I felt a little crappy, but no diarrhea. Thank god. About 11 hours after I took the pills, I had soft stool. Then about 20 hours later had a little diarrhea. Not explosive :) I would use it again though. I felt a little crappy all day but it didn’t really do much for me."

Senokot (senna) for Constipation "I actually would recommend this product when you feel uncomfortably bloated. I took/take one tablet at night if I feel the need with a mixed herbal tea. The next morning you do need a bowel movement and you do get some cramping but if you don’t take more than you need it’s bearable and relieving. Heed the warnings though if you think you might not tolerate this or you’re tempted to take more than you should - DON’T. You will be on the loo on and off with severe stomach cramping for hours and hours. I took 2 one night and I could barely walk around town the next day I was in so much pain with my stomach and feeling sick. Can have really horrible side effects but if it’s needed it’s needed."

Senokot (senna) for Constipation "I am 7 days post op from a hysterectomy and the pain meds I’m on have caused constipation. I took 2 of the Senekot-S (stool softener + laxative) at the request of my doctor. 7 hours after taking the pills, I started getting sharp and severe cramps in waves. Gradually, they became more intense, more severe and more frequent. This lasted for 6 full hours. I had 2 small BM’s during this time. Finally the cramping became so severe and there was no break between waves of pain that it had me comparing it to childbirth and kidney stones it was damn close to both. At that point, I had an explosion of diarrhea - multiple times in the span of 5-7 minutes. This was approximately 13 hours after taking the pills. I was able to get some relief at that point from the cramping but the bowels are still having spasms 24 hours later and expelling gas. Is this medication effective? Absolutely - it will 100% empty your bowels, but it is a HORRIBLE way to go. Don’t do it"

Ex-Lax Regular Strength Pills (senna) for Constipation "Took 2 pills around 6:30pm. At 3:15am I woke up to HORRIBLE stomach cramps/pain, I honestly thought I was going to pass out from the pain. I went to the bathroom, still having trouble going. Then I started throwing up. For the next 4 hours I was rotating between diarrhea and throwing up, along with the chills. It honestly was worse than the stomach flu. I never could go back to sleep that night due to the extreme pain and nausea. I will NEVER EVER take this again, even though I did eventually “go” I’d rather be constipated then go through this again."

For Constipation "I am befuddled as 2 all the negative reviews of Senna-Lax on here.I don't know if people r taking over the prescribed amount on the bottle.But you should only start w/ 2 of the 8.6 tablets (to start off) @ bedtime with a glass or 2 with water.You will have a bowel movement, maybe several the following morning.It takes about 8-10 hours to work.Sometimes, I will have a cup (but no more)of black coffee.Yes, u will get some cramping & have 2 go several times, but that means it is working! I would much rather put up with a days worth of minor cramping, than suffer with constipation, & toxic stuff sitting in my system.The reason u are going alot, is because it is removing all the "backed-up" waste that has been sitting in colon, &it's a laxative!"

Senokot (senna) for Constipation "I had been suffering with constipation for about 4 days when my husband suggested taking Senokot which worked for him. I took two tablets on the night of day 4 & of day 5-nothing happened... I took two tablets on the night of day 6 nothing happened until about 8am and all hell broke loose. I've had the squirts 24 hours with no sign of it stopping. Jesus, Mary and the wee donkey, I'm certain my bowels are on fire. Pros; I'm no longer constipated I've lost 3lb on the scales I've learned how to sprint Haven't had to leave the house for fear of straying too far from a toilet Cons: I haven't been able to put any faith in a fart in 24 hours I've run out of sudocream for the ring sting I'm like a shrivelled up prune I'm afraid to take a pain reliever for the cramps in case they are the only warning shot before the onslaught of liquid fire for the depths of hell"

For Constipation "I've been struggling with constipation on and off for the last few weeks and wanted to try some senna tea to help. I drank one cup about 1am last night and this morning at about 7:30 I felt a healthy need to use the bathroom so I very happily made my way there thinking this tea thing is great! As soon as I sat down on the toilet, I was extremely nauseous and had abdominal cramping at the same time which is horrible when you have no idea which end its gonna come out from. I then started sweating cold sweat, then my legs and arms went numb, my ears started ringing and my vision went blurry. I knew something was no bueno and tried to get out of the bathroom and lie back down in bed. Next thing I know my husband is picking me off the floor of the bathroom where I'd just fully passed out stone cold. Yeah I don't think I'll ever be trying this again. Really scary experience. Thank goodness I fell backwards into a wall and not forwards and break my face on the bathtub."

For Constipation "Senokot works wonders for me. No pain, no changes on my body except a smooth bowel motion. I take it at bedtime with 500ml warm water and as soon as I wake up in the morning I get a bm. I love Senokot."
