"This was the worst thing I have ever experienced. I took the first dose at 6pm, nothing started happening until 10pm and I then spent the whole night on the toilet. No sleep whatsoever. I was shivery and dizzy and felt quite unwell. The second dose way taken at 6am, I promptly through up most of this, which the nurse told me was quite common. The plenvu is by far the nastiest thing I have ever tasted. I did not feel as if I was completely empty and this was confirmed at the hospital."

"This was the worst tasting prep I've ever had, the taste is so bad I was gagging the entire time. I had chills from trying to tolerate the nausea it caused. It took hours for it to get better. The first dose worked an hour and a half after taking it. I could not finish the first dose. The thought of the second dose had me in tears. Never will I take this again in this life, NEVER!"

"Just carefully follow your Doctor's instructions on how to take this and you will be fine. The taste was not great but bearable. I just had some other drink ready to chase it down with. I also used a straw to help drink it. Be sure to stay very close to the toilet about 30 minutes later. It took me about 3 to 4 hours to finally feel like it was through. Be sure to wear something old and easy to get off in case of accidents. Even though I was taking the second dose at 300 AM it didn't really bother me as far as nausea. Just make sure you stay very close to the toilet."

"I was prescribed Plenvu prep for an upcoming colonoscopy, which was today. The first dose is flavored with artificial mango flavor and. It was the most vile thing I'd ever tasted. I managed to get the majority of it down. There was 1 ounce I couldn't finish. Before I was done I had explosive diarrhea. I didn't make it to the bathroom. From here on out it was pure liquid that ran through me. I took the second dose 6 hours later and it was even worse than the first dose. I could only finish 14 of the 16 ounces. Again, it just ran right through me. I'd eaten extremely light Monday through Wednesday and I think that helped tremendously. Shortly after the second dose my head began to throb. I'd been hydrating before and during the first dose and struggled mightily with the second. All I could smell and taste was the disgusting fruit punch flavor. I finally dozed off around 1am. Woke up at 5am and had passed more liquid in my sleep."

"This was my 5th colonoscopy and Plenvu was the worst bowel prep I've ever had to take. The taste was awful, salty sweet. The first dose didn't make me nauseous but the second did. I was vomiting all night besides the bowel movements and didn't get any sleep. I also had chills. I followed the directions exactly. I will never take this stuff again."

"First time for a colonoscopy, had PLENVU prescribed and took it, but nothing to compare it to. Dose 1 the night before was like drinking fruity sea water but I got it all down. In less than half an hour, the floodgates opened— success! It works!! (No “false alarms” with this stuff so be near the potty;-)). Felt nauseous with it but figured it’s all part of the process. Slept fine that night, next morning on to dose 2. Flashback to last dose. After finishing dose 2 (and during) nausea started again but knew that was normal. Unfortunately (or fortunately as the case may be) projectile vomiting of dose 2 commenced, luckily into the toilet. A LOT. But some must have made its way through my system as the projectile “squirts” commenced as well. Sure felt better after the vomiting, though!! Called my doc’s office after this vomiting of dose 2 episode and was told don’t worry, just keep pushing fluids. So I did. No problem with colonoscopy being done. And that was it!!"

"I just took the first envelope but barely got it down. Threw up on last swallow. That is the worst tasting stuff I have ever had! I am dreading taking the second dose. It is supposed to be worse, per my husband. Already feel like throwing up again! I will never use this again!"

"PlenVu split dose: Easy to use Taste is perfectly acceptable. Dose 1 better than Dose 2 Worked very fast on me. Bowel prep is not a pleasant undertaking, but PlenVu is lower volume so, taking it is not a matter of ingesting a lot of liquid. I had short-lived episodes of nausea with both does. They were both fleeting and very tolerable. If you do a good job with diet a couple of days prior to the actual bowel prep, your experience with PlenVu should just fine. Remember: You're cleansing your bowels, it's bound to wreak a little havoc on the gut."

"Dose 1 - quite salty but not too bad. Drank slowly over 30 minutes doing small sips, per instructions, followed by 500ml water. Both with room temperature water. After drinking at 6:30 it took about an hour or so to start and lasted for 4 hours. Dose 2- Taken 4am not as bad as taste from first one. Again, drank slowly over 30 minutes followed by a further 500ml water. Started working within 15 minutes, worked it’s magic for over 3 hours - after which you pass a yellow fluid. Still have some minor liquid bowl movements in evening but nothing too serious. Just stay somewhere comfortable and nearby a toilet for rest of day. Was expecting the sky to fall in from the reviews read on here but it honestly isn’t that bad. Doctor rated cleanliness as Excellent so it certainly does what it says on the box."

"This was my first time using this prep for a colonoscopy. One hour after the first dose, I started having explosive diarrhea. This continued through the second dose and throughout the night. I go no sleep. I started becoming nauseous, weak, and began having burning pain on my skin where ever the diarrhea fluid touched the skin on my bottom. By morning, I could not touch the skin without excruciating pain. I was so weak by the time I got to the surgery center for the procedure, I request a wheelchair. Having done previous preps for colonoscopies, I cannot recommend Plevnvu. It was much too harsh on my body. It is now 2 days since my procedure and am still recovering from the pain and exhaustion from using Plenvu."

"It was painfully rough drinking the Plenvu solutions. I suffer from gastritis and this gave me such a nausea that I can't help but wonder why I was sent this poison... it is effective since I keep going to the bathroom... but drinking the solution was absolutely excruciating!!"

"I used Suprep for my last colonoscopy and was pleased. The Dr talked me into Plenvu claiming it was a better product. Well he was wrong. Suprep tastes better and is more effective, with less time spent on the toilet. I don't see how they claim the dose is less volume, both are 16ozs. Do yourself a favor and ask for Suprep over Plenvu."

"Many preps in past. Plenvu is the least amount of fluid intake required that I have tried (why it was appealing). However, Plenvu is the only prep that has made me strongly vomit after second dose. Probably won't take again for future colonoscopy because can't imagine doing all this torture or preparing to throw up the ending and not have an acceptable result and having to do the prep all over again! No thank you!"

"I gave this a 10 for effectiveness because it is unbelievably effective and powerful. That is the only good thing I can say. I have so far used the first part of this prep. Within less than 10 minutes I was running to bathroom. Sat for over an hour before I could safely get up. The cramps and stomach pain were terrible. The taste is horrible. I used a straw to try avoiding the taste and still gagged with every drink. Still trying not to throw up. I would never recommend this stuff."

"I'm 26, this is my 1st colonoscopy. I have nothing to compare the prep to. Dose 1 is FOUL. Gag with every sip, even when chased with ice water. Projectile vomit twice, one halfway and one when done. I had to lay down and shut my eyes because of the nausea. I had a migraine all day, so that probably contributed. I was bloated, but did not have a BM until I started dose 2. Whoever suggested a hot bath is a SAINT, because I felt so awful after dose 1. I didn't know how to cope, the bath helps. Dose 2 is much more tolerable. Less powder, less thick. Flavor is better. Still very salty, and needs an ice water chaser. The liquid BM's have been really frequent since starting dose 2. It's been hard to drink in between. However, there is no ab pain involved. It is amazing compared to the awful pain I have had, that has driven me to get this done. All-in-all, I was scared to death about dose 2 because of how awful dose 1 was. But, that made dose 2 seem kinder."

"Diagnosed in 2001 with diverticulitis, and being past a certain age (now need to screen for colon cancer), I have much experience with these procedures. That being said, Plenvu is the worst GI prep ever! Go-Lytely is much better, it works more efficiently. Heck, anything else is better (Miralax or even magnesium citrate). This stuff could make a maggot gag. Diarrhea achieved, but vomiting is not necessary for a colonoscopy. Caused needless suffering... Never again!"

"Trialled Plenvu for a colonoscopy prep. It's only the 2nd time I've had the procedure, the previous time I used Picolax. I found plenvu very easy to use and fast acting. I had a morning appt at 8am. I took my first dose at 4.25pm the night before (taking half an hour to drink the solution as advised) - was already active by 5.10pm! I only went 3 or 4 times before I went to bed at 11.30pm. Woke up at 2am for the 2nd dose (again, taking half an hour to drink the solution) and went another 2 times after that. Had my last drink of water at 5.30am and had to go once more in the hospital just before my appointment at 8am. All in all was a pretty smooth process. Picolax I had to wait for a long time before it worked, and it was a cramping sensation each time. This was more of a gentle urge and no pressure or pain involved. The big downside is the taste. I struggled with it and I'm pretty tolerant. The dose 1 was pretty disgusting, dose 2 was better. I would still recommend it though."

"The WORST bowel prep I have ever tried. I’ve had two colonoscopies before with no problems. Back on my feet the next day. Not this time!! Managed Dose 1 but could not keep down Dose 2. Violent vomiting. Had to cancel the colonoscopy. Two days later, I can’t eat; still have horrible cramping and watery stools. I’m pretty tough but this has tipped me over the edge. And without having the actual procedure!! Hate to think what state I’d be in if I had Dose 2!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS!!"

"Taste terrible! This laxative (Plenvu) tastes like the holy grail worth of terrible! But it gets the job done and is gentle. You just have to drink it, followed by something else to kill off the laxative taste in your mouth. The first laxative, mango flavor, absolutely disgusting-I mean horrifying flavor. The second one is a little easier. Main thing is it works, but tastes terrible."

"This was the most disgusting thing I have ever drank in my life. I've had 3 colonoscopies with no problem before, but I could barely drink the first dose, and although the second one tasted a teeny bit better, I threw everything up and had to have an enema instead. If I had known this beforehand, I never would have used it. It was really gross."

"I don’t suggest chugging it, but it helped get it down. Do not breathe thru your nose or you taste it more. (This especially helped with dose 2!) When they say shake until dissolve, DO IT! (Don’t skimp on the shaking because you’re half awake the next morning.) Dose 1, chugged it & chased it with the required 16 ounces of water but I also swished with a little kool-aid. (Don’t use red, I am told it will freak the doctors out later!) Mine didn’t start working until about an hour & 45 minutes in. That might be because I had a large dinner the night before. (Poor ideas & regret abound at my house.) Dude. This works. (I found my car keys from 1987, jk, but trust me it gets things moving.) slept off & on between trips to poo-town. Up at 630 for more of this stuff. Chugged it to but through my groggy stupor I didn’t realize it didn’t quite dissolve. Insert regret. Gagged but got through. Now I’m writing this from the potty. You can do this!!"

"Ok its 2:30 am and I am working on part 2 of Plenvu bowel prep. So here is my experience. Part 1 tastes awful. You should never make a medication drink taste like mango! NEVER! But I got it down. Was on the pot for 4 hours. Woke up at 2 am for part 2. Taste is a little better. Fruit punch. Still hard to get down. Will update when I am finished. Lol Ok get over half way done with part 2 and threw it all up. Still feel nauseous."

"Taking the Plenvu was a terrible experience for my daughter. It tasted of salt almost other things, just awful. The drink made my daughter retch and after the 2nd dose she was violently sick. There were no bowel movements whatsoever and therefore the procedure will have to be cancelled. Thank you to this page as it was very helpful whilst going through the problems last night."

"I used Plenvu yesterday evening to prep for a colonoscopy this a.m. The Plenvu prep was simple and I was cleaned out for my colonoscopy which was the objective. The first stage at 6pm was 16 oz of powder mixed with water to be completed in 30 min., followed by 16 oz of water in 30 minutes. I recommend cold water and a straw. I started passing liquid stool upon finishing the plain water and was to the bathroom 4-5 times. At midnight I began the 2nd half of the prep which was 2 packets mixed with 16 oz of water in 30 minutes followed by 16 oz of water in 30 minutes. I had a need to get to the bathroom before finishing the plain water. I had liquid stools for 2 hours and was clear when my stools stopped. I describe the prep as “harsh” and effective, as a successful prep typically is. I was nauseated at times and took a Zofran to ease the nausea. I had an insatiable thirst before going to sleep at 2am and drank ice water. No prep is pleasant but this prep worked."

"I followed the directions and had no problems. The taste wasn’t bad (I chilled it prior to use, used a straw and took sips of water between swigs). I’ve certainly tasted worse things in my life. Doctor said excellent prep. First time colonoscopy for me so I don’t have a basis for comparison for other prep products. While not enjoyable, I didn’t find the prep process that unpleasant. I look at it as a necessary 2 day inconvenience to help me stay healthy. Three sessile polyps (flat polyps) were found and removed; well worth it! I didn’t eat anything solid for 24 hours prior to starting the prep and think that helped."
