"My starting weight was 213, three days later, I'm at 208. I take 35 mg a day. Supposed to take 2 a day, but want to wait to see how I react to the medicine. So far, I feel okay. I get thirsty a lot and have trouble sleeping, but other than that, I'm okay."

"I tried this years ago when I became tolerant to phentermine. I thought this drug would be the 'next step up.' I took it three times daily, but don't remember the dose. It did not give me anxiety, but did give me severe panic attacks (I know that doesn't even make sense!) I had never experienced a panic attack before this drug or since discontinuing. It did not suppress my appetite. That could have been from the cross-tolerance to phentermine. I am the one who brought it to the attention of my doctor, who had never prescribed it previously. I guess there is a reason doctors don't prescribe it: not very effective with bad side effects and frequent dosing requirements."

"This is the first time I've taken a diet pill that didn't leave me jittery or with balloon-head syndrome. I went grocery shopping about an hour after I took a dose. It was the first time in years that I only bought what was on my list."

"I am 6'3" and weighed 220 when I started. I have been taking this medicine for 5 weeks and have lost 21 pounds and have four to go to reach my goal. The only side effect I had was a couple of bouts of dizziness, but they would only last for 30 seconds or so. I have more energy to go to the gym and actually miss going if I can't make it that day. The cravings were bad for about a week, but then just disappeared. Now I look at chocolate at the grocery store and have no desire to eat it."

"Years ago, I took phendimetrazine 105 mg at 10 am and 35 mg at 3:00. I lost 15 lbs the first week and 10 lbs the following week. I thought I didn't have to exercise, and I sometimes would forget to take it. I also thought I didn't have to eat - the less I ate, the more weight I would lose. So by the 3rd month, I wasn't losing it as quickly as I thought I should, so I eventually quit taking it. I have decided to go back on it and started today. The weight-loss doctor told me not to eat sugar or fried foods, keep my calories at 1,200 a day, eat 3 meals a day, and exercise 3 times a week, and it's okay to splurge and eat one big meal a week. I'm going to try to stick to it this time!"

"This medication does NOT work. I actually eat and crave more when I'm on it. Had difficulty sleeping. And when you're off of the medication, you feel depressed and extremely fatigued. I've been prescribed this medication by a bariatric doctor 2 months ago with NO RESULTS. I experienced better results from Phentermine."

"Ok, I hit my one-month mark as of today, I have lost 10 pounds with very little effort. This medication is amazing. I am still not having any negative side effects, and my cravings and hunger are a thing of the past. This stuff is great! I am at 163.5 lbs now, so I have about 30 more pounds to go. Hopefully, I can keep the 10 pounds-a-month fade going, then I can get off the medicine and continue eating healthy small meals. I hope everyone is having the same success! Best of luck."

"I have been taking Bontril for 3 months and have lost over 17 pounds, which is only 3 pounds from my goal. The only side effects I have felt are some constipation and a slight increase in headaches. I'm starting to wean myself off the pills now and have found no increase in my appetite. This medication worked great for me!"

"Just starting a weight loss program containing the medication combined with a once-a-week B12 shot, this is my first day taking the pill, and I'm still as hungry as I was yesterday before I took it. Maybe I have to give it a few more days."

Phendimetrazine "Was on Adipex for an extended period of time to a point it stopped working. The doctor switched me to Bontril. I did not get any additional energy from this medication, and it minimally suppressed my appetite. I have not gained any additional weight in the three months I have been on it, but it has not been effective for me."

"I am female, 48 years old, healthy except for being overweight. I have tried every diet possible with little success. Been to the doctor, and my thyroid is working well. I was working out 5 days a week (P90X, lost inches but no weight) and still with little to show for all my hard work. I started 1 1/2 weeks ago on 105 mg and lost 8 lbs. I am eating approximately 100 calories for breakfast, <300 cal frozen dinner, and a banana for lunch, and at dinner, I am eating half the amount that I usually eat. My plan is part doctor-prescribed and part learning portion control. My problem is not the quality of food but quantity. I have heard that your brain gets used to the medicine and should take a week off every 2 weeks. I start exercising next week."

"This is actually my first week on this medicine, and I love it already. It really does give you tons of energy. I am on a very strict diet from a weight management doctor, and I am doing awesome! I would recommend this medicine to anyone. Another major thing is that you don't particularly care to eat. I am eating only protein this first week-10 oz. a day-that's it. Believe it or not, I cannot even eat 10 oz even though I try. It does work well!"

"I started as a 220 lbs 6' man. I look good with a shirt on, and don't experience any social stigma for my weight, but knowing my BMI puts my ideal weight at 185. I decided to try this for a month and lose some flab. The first two weeks were amazing. No altered mental status, no insomnia, just a little headache. It prevented food and alcohol cravings, it gave me the incentive to work out before work. So far, so good. After the 15-day mark, it considerably lost its effectiveness. Near the end (30 days total), it didn't have any effect whatsoever. I partook in all the Christmas feasting. I stopped cardio and started partying again. By the end, I was down to 205 lbs, but it's deceptive. I looked no different and now am getting worse cravings than before."

"I have been taking 105 mg slow release of phendimetrazine, once a day for 3 months. I haven't experienced any bad side effects. It has curbed my wild cravings and made it possible to cut my caloric intake from 3,500 a day to 1,500 - 1,700 a day. I don't really exercise, but I get up and move and leave the house, whereas before I didn't move off the bed or couch and didn't leave the house but once a week. My only problem is I have only lost 3 pounds. I don't drink sodas, I use sugarless foods and try not to eat any bad carbs. I am basically eating meat (beef, chicken, and lean pork), yogurt, green veggies, and a protein drink with a banana and blueberries. I am very depressed over this. I used to eat cookies, cakes, and all kinds of bad snacks, now I don't."

"I started taking this medication on 4/6/10 and have so far, as of today, lost 10 lbs. I love it. For the first time, I did experience heart palpitations, which scared me a little bit. The next day, they were gone. I would recommend this medication to anyone. My goal is to lose 50 lbs, and I will agree my focus is great, and I have not experienced any jitters or problems falling asleep. My doctor has me taking the medication on a time schedule, which is at 1 pm, then 4 pm, and lastly at 7 pm, with a B12 shot every 2 weeks. I have experienced dry mouth, but I just upped my water intake since I am not a big fan of water. I do not eat any high-calorie foods at all. I only eat chicken breast (deli) about 3 slices with some veggies and have water."

"I'm a mom of 5. My youngest is 9 months. I've suffered weight gain the past 4 years. My weight has been 115/120 lbs even after my 3 kids. Once the 4th and 5th came, I have plateaued at 150. Can't drop these 30 lbs. My doctor put me on Adipex 37 mg last year, I went up to 172 lbs. I freaked out and became depressed. Was 172 down to 137 lbs. Then bam, baby #5 was in the oven. In February 2015, I saw my doctor about 1 month after the birth of #5 about starting Adipex again because I weighed in at 200 lbs. She agreed. Went from 200 lbs to 148 lbs. Now I'm back to 150. How depressing/frustrating. Saw the doctor yesterday and gained 3 lbs, and she recommended Bontril. Is this a good pill? What is the average weight loss from it? Please explain the best effect. Thank you so much."

"Today is my first day taking phendimetrazine 35 mg. I was taking phentermine 37.5 mg before. Phentermine helped me lose 15 pounds in less than a month, but then it stopped helping suppress my appetite, so the doctor told me to take phendimetrazine along with the phentermine. So I am supposed to take 1 pill of phentermine in the morning before noon and then take phendimetrazine in the afternoon around 4 or 5 p.m. I haven't had any food cravings as of yet. I do feel very energetic. I had a headache earlier in the day, but that was because I hadn't eaten anything."

"I have taken Bontril on and off for 5 years now. A year on, a year off. I would actually get up to one 105 mg a day, plus 3-35 mg tabs each day. I am 49 years old. I have always had very good blood pressure/even a little on the low side. My last experience with Bontril has not been good. My blood pressure has shot up to 152/104...when I would have 110/70 readings. I have tried to cut back on the dosage to no avail. I will have to go off it completely. I'm disappointed because I do think it is a great medicine to manage your weight. I guess the moral to this story is you eventually will reach a point where your body can no longer tolerate it. I guess Weight Watchers is my next step."

"I have been taking this medication for a week now. I had very high hopes after reading all the other reviews. I am taking it every morning, and so far, no weight loss at all. Although, I haven't had luck with any of the other medicines for weight loss either."

"Started taking phendimetrazine last Tuesday, opted to be part of a study that a friend of mine told me about. I'm 5'9, 144 lbs - by no means overweight. Yet, I was trying to shed just 10-15 lbs to get back down to the weight I once loved and felt my best at. 2 a day, an hour before meals. First day it suppressed my appetite, and I was more than a little surprised - thought I hit the jackpot, as I am the queen of snacking throughout the day. 2nd and 3rd day didn't work as well as the first, 4th and 5th day worked good again. Now I'm on my 7th day, and today it hardly worked. Not sure what all the back and forth is about because I haven't done anything different. I will say that I've dropped 4 lbs in the past week, but I'm also taking water pills."

"I went to a diet clinic today, and my doctor put me on phendimetrazine 105 mg. I take it at 10 am, then at 3 pm, I take the 35 mg phendimetrazine. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I take hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg (water pill). I weighed 235 lbs, BIGGEST I'VE EVER BEEN, when I started my job in February. This morning, when I took my 1st pill, it didn't take very long at all to kick in! I had a headache this evening, but I lay down and took a 30-minute nap, and it went away! So far, so good. The only bad thing is I have to work tomorrow, and it's 2:26 am already."

"Just got script filled. 35 mg 3 times a day starting tomorrow. Was on Apidex, but after a couple of days I broke out in hives, but did have good results the 10 days I was on it. Lost 7 pounds. Nervous about taking this, but have read lots of good responses about it. Wish me luck."

"Day one on this medication... had taken phentermine before, gotten to goal weight, then thought I could maintain on my own, with exercise, etc. Had some winter weight gain and getting started again. My doctor asked if I wanted to try something new. At first, it made me a little lightheaded, but better as the day went on. The problem is now, I have to be up in a couple of hours and can't go to sleep! Hoping this goes away soon. Tomorrow, I will take it a little earlier in the day."

"DO NOT USE THIS MEDICATION!!! A friend of mine used this medicine and turned into a different person. She went from a kind role model to so many people, to someone we barely see. When we do see her, she seems irritated and is very harsh. She has received so many side effects such as... • Mood changes • Increase of sexual desire • Loss of appetite • Loss of interest in certain priorities."
