For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "I started Neulasta (single injection) following my 5th chemo infusion because my WBC and absolute neutrophil count were too low, causing my infusions to be delayed by 2-3 weeks. I started loratadine the day before the shot and never experienced any pain, just a strange feeling of my bones pulsing. However, this product never did a thing for my WBC or absolute neutrophil count. My final infusion was again delayed by a couple of weeks. I am giving this drug a 2 rating only because I did not have the pain that so many others experienced."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "My mom has stage 4 extensive small cell lung cancer and is receiving chemo and immunotherapy. Her WBC and neutrophils were incredibly unstable throughout all of cycle one and resulted in a week-long ICU stay when combined with drastically low sodium. For cycles 2-4, she had the Onpro Neulasta injector- which you want to make sure you’re at home for. Two of the four cycles, we had more appointments and labs the next day, and hearing that thing beep and infuse in the car or waiting room is rather anxiety-inducing. My mother doesn’t complain too much about the pain- it’s generally for a day or so, and her medical marijuana helps take the edge off. Weekly blood tests for the second and third cycles confirmed it steadied her blood counts through the varying nadirs of her chemo cocktail (carboplatin and etoposide) and helped keep thrush at bay. Overall, she’s happy with it. Sorry it seems to go so badly for so many..."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "This drug ruined my life. I have never been the same mentally since they forced me to take it and didn't even tell me I could ever have an issue from any of the treatments. I would be up for 3 days shaking, I thought I had Parkinson's. My mind felt the same. I couldn't hold myself still for 1 second. All they could do was sedate me in the hospital for a week each time, and even in my sleep, I couldn't go 30 seconds without twitching, my mom said. It was the worst part by far. After a year of that, every month being up Friday to Monday shaking broke me. This was in 2008, I was 22. It robbed me of the prime of my life. I still can't work, and I want to, but can't unless I have I.V. fluids at work daily. It was 100% Neulasta, nothing else. I begged them at the end not to give it to me, and they said, do you want to live or die? I wish I died. It would have saved my family a lot of pain and money."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "My 89.5-year-old mom got a shot of Neulasta on Tuesday. Her first and only one. She has been so sick; we are assuming from the shot. She has a red rash and severe left upper abdominal pain. Sharp pains and tenderness. And sharp pains when she breathes in. It has been 5 days since the shot, and the pain is still strong. She isn't having bone pain at all, like some others have. We are hoping she feels better any minute now and have delayed seeking medical attention as we hope this will pass. She sees her doctor again in 3 days and hope he acts like he cares."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "Three rounds of chemo and reactions to Neulasta have been horrible. Oncologist says I need this and I am fighting him. No bone pain (lucky), but tightening of the throat, hard to breathe after the patch, and thought I would pass out. Thought it was a reaction to Clairtain after OnPro, so tried Neulasta a second time. After the second chemo, the same thing happened. Thought I was going to pass out, throw up, have diarrhea, or all three at the same time. Scary. The third time went in for the injection with nurses so they could watch me. Twenty-four hours later (after no reaction immediately) ended up in the hospital after horrible abdominal pain and peeing blood almost all day. This is NOT a good drug."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "Neulasta was put on my arm after the 1st chemo. It is common practice without checking labs the day after chemo and before using it. Go back to the doctor the next day to check white blood cell (WBC) count and see if you really truly need this!"

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "I have an injection the day after Taxotere chemo for breast cancer. The aches kick in the day after and two days later are very uncomfortable, mostly in my bones down from the waist. I take 4 x 200 mg of Ibuprofen with my morning cuppa and that takes about an hour to take effect and will last me until about tea time. Then I take a couple of paracetamol before bed. When it starts to get better after about 5 days, I just take a co-codamol tablet before bed and then I sleep. My doc has approved this regime. I even resorted to drinking wine one night and yes, it dulls the pain, but I felt rubbish the next day. I experimented to see what worked for me. My blood count is excellent, so it all seems worth it."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "My first round of IV chemotherapy with Obinutuzumab went surprisingly smoothly. No issues. Had the single injection given by an RN of Neulasta on day five. Was told about the bone pain, etc. But in no way at all was I prepared for the severity, it was off the 10 on a pain scale. My body from hips to base of skull was excruciating. It came in waves, I can only compare it to labor pain where my whole body tightens up almost spasm-like. I called the after-hours doctor's line. Told to take Claritin, and the doctor phoned in an RX for oxycodone for two days. Picking up the oxycodone at the pharmacy, I was crying. I have never done that in my life over pain. This pain literally kicked me hard. All my searches say bone pain with Neulasta. But nowhere did it say what the severity could be. Was nowhere near prepared for this. Hopefully, I will be prepared for the next round and see if pre-taking Claritin will help."

"I had a severe allergic reaction to Neulasta! Within two hours of the shot, my tongue and mouth swelled, making speech difficult, I had red, puffy hives from my neck down. I was rushed to the ER, where I was put on an IV of adrenaline and Benadryl and a couple of other medicines to control the allergic reaction. I spent the night in the ER room while the doctor on duty said to my husband, NEVER in all his years of practice has he ever had to pump that much medication to control an allergic reaction! Neulasta also contains the E. coli bacteria, and for over a year, my doctors have been unable to get rid of a bladder infection I keep having recurrently! The bladder infection is the E. coli bacteria, which, after being treated with antibiotics, only returns within weeks."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "Stage 2 breast cancer. Have gone through 2 rounds of chemo with Neulasta. First round, I experienced awful bone pain in femur, pelvis, and upper back for several days. Could not sleep, and Tylenol barely touched it. Second round, bone pain was intense in upper back but only lasted an hour. It was a long, painful hour, but it subsided after about 60-70 minutes. Again, Tylenol and Claritin didn't seem to give much relief. On third round, much less pain this time around. Only slight discomfort, but I am able to sleep and operate during the day as normal. The Neulasta is working for my WBC, and I will stick with it since I am more afraid of an infection and hospitalization than the pain. The pain is bad, but infection is a far worse prospect."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "I was diagnosed with stage 1b lung cancer and had a left lower lobe removed in May 2024. Chemo was prescribed, and I started a Cisplatin/Pemetrexed regimen. However, the Cisplatin was too toxic for my kidneys and was changed to Carboplatin/Pemetrexed. There’s always something with chemo, and my WBC dropped due to the Carbo, so the doctor started me on Neulasta…and I am very happy he did. WBC went back up, and my kidneys have recovered. I had my last chemo session (4 doses, 3 weeks apart) and am, as this is being written, about to have my last dose of Neulasta. I had the cartridge injector type, and all were taped to my stomach. I’m sorry that so many had a bad experience, but so far, mine has been great. No bone pain, no nausea, no hair loss, although at 74 most of it’s gone anyway, and my WBC is good. Personally, I highly recommend Neulasta, but understand why others wouldn’t."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "My first experience with Neulasta was a nightmare. It was worse than chemo, where I almost died because I was allergic to the medications. After Neulasta was applied, I felt as though someone had a remote control and was playing a game where they were zapping various parts of the inside of my body all throughout the night. It was extremely painful. What made it painful was each zap was like an ambushed surprise. The next morning, I was worn out, sore, swollen, and my skin was extremely tender to touch. I did not enjoy this experience at all. On top of just the Neulasta, the chemo gave me mouth sores and made my hair fall out, along with blood clots. I was a mess. Neulasta does not get high marks from me."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "I've had 6 doses of Neulasta and have not had any side effects at all. I would recommend placing it on your stomach, as I first had one on my upper arm and almost ripped it off getting dressed because I forgot it was there! I take 1 Claritin a night, which keeps the bone pain away. Mine was a very positive experience, and I would do it again."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "I've been getting the Neulasta OBI after chemo for Hodgkin's lymphoma for 9 treatments now (1 every two weeks). I find the side effects to be very tolerable - a little bone pain in my shoulder/clavicle area and some upper arm muscular discomfort between the shoulder and elbow. It's never been severe enough to consider taking anything, does not affect my sleep, and usually lasts 2 to 3 days. Very minor compared to what others are reporting."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "I take Claritin every day. I still had excruciating aches and pains. Seven days later, I can finally walk upright. My oncologist will have to find something else. My WBC was 26, so Neulasta does work, but I can’t use it."

For Neutropenia Associated with Chemotherapy "Burning abdominal regions, hard stone-like ovals on both sides, flank and torso area. Burning starts from the top center of the stomach and goes out to both torso sides. The whole abdominal area gets hard like when I had contractions during delivery. Pressure is awful. I feel like exploding, perhaps it is my spleen. I have elbow and knee pain, plus neuropathy. Overall feeling awful after my third chemo."
