For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I do understand that there will be side effects, but never expected that. This medicine is horrible and burns like crazy. I used the itch relief, and it made it worse. I ended up here because I wanted to check if the burning was common, and it seems to be for 95% of us. So Monistat, goodbye."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "So I took the Monistat 1 a day for my severe yeast infection. I inserted it far up and put extra on the outside. Went straight to bed, but woke up 3 hours later with itching and burning worse than the yeast infection!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I am leaving another review for this product. I left one a few months back when I had one, and this is just to back up the other review. It should only cause mild burning. If it is unbearable, it is 100% because you waited too long to treat. This product is great if you catch it within the first few days to one week. After that, you will be miserable. Unfortunately, I am experiencing another YI, but this product knocked it out the other time, so I decided to try it again because I do not have insurance to see a doctor right now. It feels just like I remember. Use it as soon as you know it’s coming on. Do not wait!!!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I made the mistake of reading these reviews after inserting the egg. I freaked out and considered taking it out but soon found that impossible to do. I didn’t notice any severe burning, but as I was freaked out by some people's experiences, I decided to stay lying down with a pillow under my lower back, and I think that made a huge difference in reducing side effects. I noticed a slight amount of burning when I got up to pee, so I have a feeling the flow of the medicine to external areas is the culprit. I had a pretty mild infection, and I’m frustrated that the labeling doesn’t really indicate the harshness of this medication, though. I try to keep things natural, but I didn’t feel like fussing with garlic or yogurt or anything. The medication seems to be working less than 24 hours later, so it works at least. Probably wouldn’t use it again, but here to report that you may not react how everyone else is and not to be too worried about it!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Update: I finally went to the OB/GYN after excruciating burning and severe swelling. Guess what? They said I had a chemical burn. They said they never recommend this product to patients due to high alcohol content along with other irritants. They prescribed me a yeast pill and told me to use Desitin diaper cream for babies instead. Do not buy if you want to save your vag!!!!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "The itching is very, very intense about 5 minutes after you use it. It goes away (I've used it before) this same reaction happened last time, and I'm sure this is how the product works. After my 1-day treatment, my infection went away! It's a good product and gets the job done. Although I could do without the mad itching feeling... It really does help, you just have to get over the few hours of pain and itching."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Yes, I know my nickname is Fire Pepper, but I never thought I would live up to this name. Monistat 1, I highly do not recommend. Within 5 minutes of inserting this into my vagina, I experienced some very intense burning accompanied by severe itching. I thought I was dying! I felt like a part of my body would forever be damaged. I couldn’t tell my boyfriend this, he would think I have an STFD (sexually transmitted fire disease). Also, the leakage is nasty and messy! I’m having to wear a pad daily just to not mess up my underwear. When you sit down, it feels like you’re going to slip and slide in your crotch! It is now week 3, and there is still a tiny bit of discharge. I just want it to be finished already. So, the effectiveness of this product, I would say a 0! I still had to go to the doctor, Diflucan is the best route to take, and it’s hassle-free, pain-free, and not messy at all!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I used M1 and have been in agony for more than a week! I had to go to my GYN, who diagnosed a chemical burn to my vagina. I don't know if going to the pool the next day added to it, but have now been using a steroid ointment and finally a Lidocaine ointment that burns like hell before it does its numbing. My GYN said this stuff is the worst thing for vaginas, I agree!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Ok, many of the reviews are true, and it does burn like hell the first few hours. OMG, but I put a cold, wet towel and took ibuprofen around hour 3, and this saved my cooch. I was only going to write a review if it actually worked. So after hour 4, it was a nice, warm burn (I don’t know how to word it without it sounding like I’m a masochist). Waking up the next morning, my yeast infection is gone completely, and I’m so excited that I will be able to sex again."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I am convinced Monistat was created by men who hate women! I have tried everything to get this intense burning to stop, nothing helps. A shower helped for a few minutes, but the burning is back along with swelling, and it feels like my inner vagina is having convolutions. Never ever again. I wanted fast relief from the YI, now I wish I had those same problems instead of this “cure.”"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I just inserted the stuff, and about 30 minutes later, I felt a light itching. I also had to pee, so after I peed, there was a burning feeling that felt like fire and light throbbing in my vagina. Feels like Satan is skipping inside my vagina. It's the worst feeling I have ever had. I don't know what this is, this is my first time using it, and I'm embarrassed because I'm afraid to tell my boyfriend I have great balls of fire in my vagina."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I cannot believe this product is allowed to keep being sold. Within minutes of using Monistat, for feeling slightly itchy, now I feel like I am on fire, being bitten by a thousand ants. How can all of the reviews for a product be having similar horrible reactions and this product still be on the market?"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I have had a bad yeast infection for a few days, and my mom recommended this. Inserted the one-day or night treatment and was hit with 100x more pain and itchiness than before! I was crying and had to dig it out. Going to have to try a different one."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "OMG, so I've taken the 3-day and 7-day Monistat in the past, no problem. My story: So after taking some antibiotics for 10 days, I had a visit from the YI monster. I took the 1-day, and holy hellfire. I woke up feeling like Satan took up a vacation home in my lady parts. I tried the flipping cream that came with it too, and nope, FIRE DOWN BELOW! I finally read below about a woman being told Desitin diaper rash cream from her doctor, and at this point, I would put tiger's blood on my burrito if it would stop this holy hellfire. Welp, after literally sitting in the shower for 20 minutes, my awesome partner went out and got me Desitin, and that worked. I think the combination of going in the shower and putting the Desitin cream on afterward helped. I even took 2 Advil. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. Unless you want to feel like napalm hit your va jay jay and its neighbor."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "For all the ladies that need help. The times I’ve used this before and have had an actual awful severe YI, this has not burned me. But this time it did, so I’m assuming it’s because I had such a mild case for a yeast infection! This does help a lot, but please, if you have a mild yeast infection and you don’t think it isn’t as bad, I would suggest just using the 3-day or even the 7-day since it’s not in such a high dosage. I also did have a yeast infection the week prior to using this and used the 3-day because I had just gotten off antibiotics. The 3-day didn’t burn me, but this one did, and like I said, I’m assuming since I used the 1-day and it’s such a high dosage that’s why it burned! It even burned for days after, and I still had some itch!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "This is not a drill, listen to the other reviewers. This product is awful. I literally felt like my crotch was on fire. I was in tears, it was so bad. I have never done a review of any product, but this experience was so painful that I had to."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "It’s currently 4 a.m., and I’m laying here with a washcloth on my vagina, wishing I had read these reviews before buying. I was on the Fluconazole pills, but after two days of them not working, I decided to try out the Monistat one day. I know a lot of people who have used it, and it seemed like the next best option. I didn’t have any pain during the insertion, but throughout the night... holy moly. I'm in so much pain right now. Burning and itching. I hope this pain is either worth it or goes away soon."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "This was a horrible experience. I had a pretty bad YI and was itching and burning. Thought I'd go ahead and get the one dose to knock it out. I thought I was itching and burning before using this medication. After I put it in, I applied some of the vaginal cream, and it felt like lava was burning my crotch. I quickly grabbed the enclosed wipes and washed it off, thank goodness for those little blessings. I think someone on the marketing team had a sense of humor. Those little gems were the only thing in the $20 box worth anything at all. I ended up laying down for an hour waiting to see what would happen. As time passed, the burning and pain progressed where I was about in tears, so I went and sat in the bath to rinse it out. So, I'm now a little over 2 hours out from my application, and it's throbbing and still burning a little. Please don't subject yourself to this stuff. It's literally the worst thing I've ever purchased."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I used to use this med quite often. What the heck did they do to it? Oh my goodness, I thought I was going to die. It is getting better after about an hour, but this is ridiculous. Never again. I swear by a bath with about a cup of table salt to keep YIs away."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "So, got an antibiotic for something else. Then I got a YI, so decided I would try the Monistat 1. Let me tell you this is easily the worst choice I have ever made. I am in so much pain, the burning is nothing like I have ever experienced. Currently crying because I cannot get this pain to go away! Please contact your doctor about another option, I do not want anyone to go through this!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I am currently laying with a bag of frozen corn between my legs and reading these reviews to distract myself. If you happen to be reading this BEFORE using/buying this product, DO NOT USE IT!!! I am on FIRE and BLEEDING from this product. If you’re like me and only read reviews after the fact to make sure you weren’t having a literal emergency, good luck. It has been a few hours, and it is starting to subside, but I would much rather have used a longer timed treatment than experience this. NOT WORTH IT and SHOULD NOT BE ON THE SHELVES."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I just felt obligated to write this review as others were so negative! After inserting the ovule and using the cream, my itching/burning slightly increased. However, it wasn’t much worse than the itchiness and burning I had been dealing with due to my YI. After reading reviews, I was so scared I would be up for hours in pain, but fell asleep after a while and woke up feeling much better. No longer itchy or experiencing discharge. It’s not the most comfortable, but it works."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Okay, so I feel a lot better after reading everyone’s comments - and I most likely will continue reading them until this horrible burning and discomfort ends! I inserted the egg around 7 pm last night and had no issue until waking up at 6 am with some of the most discomfort I have ever experienced down there! It is so extreme that it is all I can think about! My YI symptoms weren’t severe, and it was my first ever, so I didn’t think a doctor's visit was necessary—I am currently regretting that. Now, I am not laying here crying, but I have been up for hours with an extreme burning sensation researching when this is going to end. If it is more than today, I will need to go to a doctor. I do not recommend ever taking this. I know I will not."
