The first 2 days, I was so exhausted and chilled I could hardly move. It has helped decrease hunger, and I eat less now but haven't lost any weight, still maintaining a 131 lbs weight loss but need to lose more. But last night, I noticed I was producing milk. I have now read up that can be a side effect. I go to my gyn tomorrow and will know more, but I'm pretty freaked out!"

The first day I was really, really not feeling myself, chills, I felt like I had the flu. Today I feel so much better. Within a few days of starting it, I came down with what I thought was a virus: body aches, chills, and nausea. I kept on the Belviq since I had just started it. I spoke about this to my doctor, and he said to give it another week or two. Then the aches, chills, and nausea came again. I also felt that the product did not work. I got an additional headache in the evening and then was ravenous. I stopped the Belviq, and the symptoms went away."

My mom tried one of the pills yesterday and felt headache, dry mouth, body aches, and chills for a short while. She noticed her appetite was definitely suppressed. Today is my first day taking it (once a day), and I had a couple of seconds of chills, and that's it, no other side effects. My appetite definitely hasn't been suppressed, but I'm hoping that within a few days, I will see some changes in appetite and some weight loss."

Lorcaserin for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "After 1 dose of Belviq XR, within a couple of hours, I had every single side effect. Cold symptoms, dizziness, inner ear issues, lethargy, severe headache, swollen feet and hands, scratchy throat, brain fog. Had all of these flu symptoms, so I assumed that it was the actual flu and not side effects. Then I noticed the itching that others reported. I noticed swelling in my feet and hands - severe swelling. Hurt to put my shoes on. Body aches, joint pain. My mind is mush. All of these are typical side effects of the medication according to the manufacturer. What is ‘typical’ about feeling sick? I ended up having to go home from work because I was not able to function. Basically, I am out 2 days of work, $145 for medication I am not taking, $100 to see the doctor for a flu test (I don’t have the flu, I have side effects)."

Lorcaserin for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 5 ft 5 in & 158. I fight hypothyroidism & Hashimoto's & have also gone through 5 years of fertility medicines. My usual weight is 138. My doctor & I didn’t care to get me down to that weight - we were hoping for high 140s, something a bit safer due to being pre-diabetic & high cholesterol. With menopause knocking on my door, weight loss is near impossible (I even work with a trainer 3 times a week!). Anyway, this medicine was BRUTAL for me. I had the same experience as someone above: slept like a rock (I usually wake up at 6 am, but couldn’t get up until 8:30 am), started craving & eating JUNK that I’d never eat before, chills, fatigue, some nausea & my breasts weren’t swollen but they were incredibly sore to the point where I couldn't sleep on my belly. I was SO ineffective & lazy (which isn't me), I stopped the medication because I had also GAINED 4 pounds in 1.5 weeks. (I only took it for 9 days!). The withdrawal after only 9 days has me with horrific vertigo. Ugh. AWFUL. So glad I’m off it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "It has been 14 days on Belviq, and I am planning to stop. Took 3 days to notice a change. For the past 12 days, I didn't get any of the side effects it talks about except being cold. I have lost 10 lbs so far from the 70 I need. Now I realize that it requires determination to want to lose weight because if I wanted, I could have eaten fast food or Italian any time without anything to stop me but only myself. I was focused enough to say no, and that is the key. The drug helps slightly, but the person must put in their part to make it successful. It is now 2 days with migraines and can't take my other medication because it has dangerous effects with Belviq. I would say it gave me the encouragement to start, but the rest is up to me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am starting my third week on Belviq. I am down almost 7 lbs. Side effects at first were feeling very tired, feeling cold, and dry mouth. I still seem to have low energy and can't seem to exercise with the strength I had before. None are bad enough to quit at this point. It has totally diminished my appetite and craving for carbs. That alone is worth the $200/mo I am currently paying."
