For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've read almost every comment on this medicine. How can anyone eat while taking this medication? The smell or even looking at food makes me want to die. I started this medication back in June 2017, I've lost 20 lbs, although I'm on and off. The nausea is ridiculous. I can't even drink water when taking this medicine. I puke everything up. I cannot increase my dose from 1.2 mg, I tried and the nausea was intolerable. Even at 1.2 mg, I feel sick. I purchased the medicine, went to see my doctor, told her I paid for it, and she gave me five additional pens. My goal is to get down to 150 lbs, I'm hoping that the nausea will go away. So far, it has not."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started on Victoza 10/10/10 on 0.6 for one week, then 1.2 for the second week, and finally onto 1.8 the third week. Also, whilst taking Victoza, was taking metformin 2x500g twice daily, pioglitazone (Actos) 60g twice daily, gliclazide 160g twice daily. Have found that I have had some weight loss, but not that much, maybe 12-15 lbs, but cannot afford to lose the weight as I am now down to 11 stone or thereabouts. Side effects: not sure if this is just because of the Victoza or because of all the medicine I am taking together: sickness, vomiting, headaches, lots and lots of gas. Burps really stink of eggs, find that this happens mostly at nighttime, waking me up and then eases off during the day. Blood sugar not too bad, but not great."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Saxenda last Friday, with only a mild headache and fatigue being my side effects. Unfortunately, that changed on Monday. I work 50+ hours a week, so the loss of appetite is not a hindrance; however, I found that if I ate any more than a small protein bar or drink anything other than water, the results are not good. Vomiting and diarrhea, lasting most of the next day, and abdominal cramping join the list after any type of food. I hope others have a better result, but my doctor and I agree this is not right for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This stuff at 1.2 dose is pure poison to me. Started 0.6, and my blood sugar (BS) looked a lot better, no side effects. Increased to 0.6 + 5 clicks, appetite decreased, weight loss, even better BS. Asked if I could stay at that dose, was told no, increase to 1.2. Dr's goal is to get me off Lantus. Three days on 1.2 and I am puking every 2 hours and diarrhea even though I haven't eaten in 2 days. This is my 2nd attempt with Victoza. There will not be a 3rd. Nothing in the world is worth feeling this bad. Had to miss work yesterday and can barely stand today. Terrified to drink, as I can't even keep water down. Dr insists my side effects are 'rare.' Clearly she hasn't read any of the forums or reviews."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started this for DM. My doctor says it will help with weight loss as well. When I increased to 2.4, I had serious vomiting and couldn't eat at all, no appetite. I found that when I gradually increase and don't stop taking it, I am able to tolerate it without any nausea or vomiting. The only problem is serious heartburn at night. And yes, I did see a decrease in my weight."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Victoza for a month now. I've not had any nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea ... but also I haven't lost any weight, and my blood sugar is the same at 13-15 mmol/L before breakfast every morning. My energy levels have dropped, and I feel more tired than I did without Victoza. I'm a lot less hungry, so I'm eating less than before, but still no weight loss and no drop in blood sugar. Have also had periods of blurred vision and odd sensations in various parts of my body. I'm baffled because it seems to be doing lots for other people almost immediately, yet it doesn't appear to be doing anything at all for me even after a month on 1.2 dosage. Any ideas?"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Please, if you suffer from migraines, do not take this medication. I only used one dose of an injection, and I’ve been violently ill for the last 24 hours with a severe migraine and throwing up constantly. I know the side effects are different for everyone, but I wish I had listened to the people on here with migraines who said don’t do it. It’s taught me a very big lesson that if you need to put a pill in your mouth or inject yourself to lose weight, don’t bother. I’m going to go back to doing it the hard way, but without feeling absolutely wretched."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I took two doses of Saxenda. The first day was great! By the second day, I was so sick I couldn't move. I threw up for 20 straight hours. I thought I was dying. I was really hoping this would work for me, but after that experience, I am very apprehensive to take it again. I did lose 5 lbs vomiting. :("

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Saxenda November 22nd, and I’m down 13 pounds, but I am miserable. I wish I was one of the lucky ones that only experienced a little bit of nausea. I have had constant severe diarrhea and vomiting with each dose increase. I am on 3.0 now, and I am praying my body will adjust. If not, the diarrhea is so severe I won’t be able to continue the medicine. :("

For Diabetes, Type 1 "Only put on Victoza yesterday for my insulin resistance at 0.6. In only two injections, sugar levels have fallen from the high 200s-low 300s to low 100s. No vomiting. Doctor now lowering my Lantus from 265 units twice a day to 150 twice a day, and Humalog from 120 units per day to 20 units three times a day while I wait for the insurance company to approve the pump. It would be cheaper for them and give me a better quality of life. Willing to put up with any side effects for these numbers."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have lost 10 kg my first month, and I still have 20 kg to go. I know that I wouldn't be able to lose the weight without Saxenda. My only concern is that I feel something in my stomach, and I don't know what it is. I think it is hunger, but I try to avoid it and drink fluids. I know eating or drinking too much will make me sick. I have vomited a couple of times now, so I take it really easy. Just wish the constant stomach feeling would go away. I recommend this to anyone who needs a jump-start or nothing seems to work for them."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Awful! Took Saxenda for 4 days. The side effects were terrible. Severe diarrhea, nausea, headache, no energy, zero appetite (literally had to make myself eat some fruit and crackers just to have something), lightheaded, dry heaves, dizzy. No more. I quit."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Wow. I am so nauseated. Took my first dose today at 3 pm. It's 7:22 am, woke up vomiting. I am a little scared of this product, but I will continue to take shots at .6 at least for one week. Saxenda seems to be a powerful weight loss product. I will write another review in one week. I am at 288 lbs. My goal is to drop under 200. I will be OK if I can reach 180 lbs and train myself to stay on a strict diet on my own."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was recently prescribed Victoza. The day I took my first dose (1.8), I ended up in the ER. I was continuously throwing up and needed to be hydrated. The following week, I tried it again and I was in the ER again. This does not work for me. I have read many reviews that say it gets better after two weeks, but how can you go on with your day if you are nauseous or vomiting all day?"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'd been on Victoza 1 or 2 years back, but with no results. This time around, I'm on Victoza and Invokana, and I've lost about 8 lbs since starting them 5 days ago. Except for a slight desire to eat in the AM, I've lost almost all appetite. I'm nauseous almost all the time, though, and had to actually vomit on the 3rd day. But, because I used Victoza in the prescribed way the 1st time around, my doctor suggested starting at 1.8, which may be why I'm so nauseous. I have to drink lots of water because of the Invokana, but after drinking, I feel like vomiting. I just realized that the nausea from drinking water has subsided since the 1st few days, so I guess the general nausea is lessening, too? Hard to tell, especially with no appetite."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "So I started Saxenda on March 5th, 2017, and it hasn't been a week yet, but let me tell you, these side effects are awful. I've woken up twice now vomiting. I have to eat every bite incredibly slowly to make sure I don't get sick from that bite: nausea, vomiting, sweating. I will definitely give this a go anyway and take my nurse's word for it that the side effects will pass. I haven't been able to take my weight yet, so I'm not sure how much I've lost. Good luck, people, it's pretty rough in the beginning. By the way, I'm taking this because I am an autoimmune disease patient and had my thyroid removed."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "My physician has told me to take 3.0 one time per week for weight loss. Nurse did the first injection yesterday in the office at 9:30 a.m. By 1 p.m., I started vomiting and haven't stopped. I am scared because the medication is in my body, and I don't know how long this will last. I do not have nausea. I just have sudden-onset vomiting."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I took Victoza for 3 months. The nausea was unbearable. It did little to control my blood sugar. I lost weight because I was too nauseous to eat! Then, I started vomiting, and there was blood in it. I switched to Trulicity, and the nausea and vomiting stopped immediately. My blood glucose is better controlled."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Lowered blood glucose. Effective. However, I could not tolerate the side effects. Occasional severe nausea and vomiting, and unpredictable diarrhea, which persisted after discontinuing (I also take Metformin 1000 mg/day - known to cause nausea, but I had no symptoms until Victoza). In 2008, I had 2 brain surgeries and suffered months of nausea and vomiting. This was so traumatic for me that I can't tolerate Victoza."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started the Saxenda jabs last Tuesday to lose weight, and I’ve lost a total of 7 lb in just under two weeks. I’ve gone from 0.6 dose to 0.9 as I don’t feel I needed to increase that much. The only downside I’m having is not being hungry at all, and I have zero motivation, and I’m always tired. I’ve had minor acid reflux and a severe vomiting attack last night, but that was it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Saxenda in January 2020 for weight loss. I gained 30 pounds when I went through menopause. I have a BMI of 34; had all the side effects: nausea, vomiting, severe acid reflux. Started slowly, and every time I advanced my dose, the symptoms worsened and then subsided. I was on Saxenda and never lost any weight. I had no appetite, as I could not eat without getting sick. I tried taking it in the morning and then at night before bed, thinking a different time of day would help. I achieved no weight loss and lost sleep from the acid reflux."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve been on Saxenda for approximately 6 weeks. Although the results are great, and it definitely curbs your appetite, I’m now suffering adverse side effects. I have bouts of diarrhea and have vomited several times. The worst is the excessive sulfur belching! I’m not sure how much longer I can take it. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, have you found any relief?"
