For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I waited 18 months to review. I started 09/2017. The first 6 months I lost 8 lbs, from 198 lbs to 190 lbs (5'8). 3 mg. The side effects were all there: diarrhea, nausea, lethargy, nausea, vomiting, nausea. Did I mention nausea? In 0/2018, I stopped eating meat and meat products and went on a plant-based diet. After one particularly side-effect day, I lowered the dosage back to .06, and I did not inject every day. I thought if I wasn't losing weight, why stay sick? From Feb until 07/2018, I lost 12 more lbs. I had a hysterectomy in 07/2018. I have started eating meat, but my appetite has slowed down. To date, I've lost a total of 30 lbs in 13 months, down to 168 lbs. Size 10, 31' waist, and 4 lbs from not being considered 'overweight.' I had to do something to get things moving. When I made that change, I went from size 14 to a 10. I still only inject .06 a day, I don't inject every day. I still tend to get nauseated, but it only lasts for about 5 minutes, and I keep gum near my bed, which helps."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been taking this medication for about a week, and for the first two days, I vomited so much and couldn't eat, I lost 8 lbs. The headache was horrible, and I couldn't get out of bed, let alone function. By day 3, I'm not vomiting, but the key for me is to take it at night so I don't feel nauseous. I get a milder headache, and I can taste the medicine now. It also makes me very tired, so waking up early is a problem for me now."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Holy crap, I just figured out why everyone is losing so much weight taking Invokana! You see, if we're all so sick with severe nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, we're too damn weak from dehydration to even consider shoveling those pork chops in... yeah? Am I right? I lost 43 pounds in 9 weeks, I'll take it AND the near-death side effects... Yeah, I know, taking massive doses of laxatives is probably cheaper, but there's no settlement on the horizon with those, so I say we all just suck it up! You know eventually the FDA will figure out the drug company lied like 'usual' and covered up the deadly side effects. Eventually, we'll all be thin and wealthy. Woohoo! I'm in!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "An absolute miracle drug, lost 6 kg in the first month without even trying vs. most diets which were doing nothing. Get occasional slight nausea, but it's nothing to worry about. I've stopped increasing my dose as 1.8 mg seems to be working for now. A small word of warning that if you're planning a big night out, best skip the dose for the day, otherwise you WILL vomit (either on the night or the morning after, which, although it will save you calories, is not ideal). Gets a 10/10 for sheer effectiveness though."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "It is the worst drug I have ever taken! I was prescribed Saxenda by a GP to help with weight loss. By Day 5, I had violent vomiting for 8 hours, followed by diarrhoea. I ended up with broken capillaries on my face from the vomiting. I continued on but opted to stay on the lower dose. 2 days later, I had diarrhoea again. Bright yellow and pouring out of me. 4+ times an hour for 48 hours. I would not recommend this to anyone."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I took this injection for the first time just before going out for lunch. After returning home, my stomach started churning. I became nauseated and started vomiting for the next 24 hours. I thought I had food poisoning. It took 48 hours to recover. I then took the Victoza again and had the same symptoms. I was unable to hold down food, water, or my blood pressure medicine for 48 hours. I remained nauseated for a week after that. I called my doctor, who said to stop taking it. I threw it away."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I'd been on Victoza for over a year. I never lost any weight. I didn't really see much of a difference in my A1C's, but kept taking it because my sugars at least weren't going up. My current A1C is 7.2. A couple of months ago, I started having major bloating problems, including nausea and occasional vomiting. It progressed to a hospitalization for chest pain (ruled out cardiac) and then to GI, who did UGI as well as a Gastric Emptying Study and showed Gastroparesis. OMG!! The GI doc said Victoza is notorious for causing this. Thank God my case is reversible because I caught it early enough. Of course, no more Victoza for me!!!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Saxenda for two weeks. First week dose at 0.6, I experienced nausea and vomiting. Not a good experience. I had to work from home. I learned to take it in the morning after I got to work. Second week, I upped my dose to 1.2 and went through terrible nausea and vomiting. My blood pressure is also skyrocketing, and my face is completely red. I am very bloated and uncomfortable. Do not think this drug is for me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been taking this for 3 months. I lost 30 lbs in the first 2 months and have maintained for the past month. This past month I've been eating horribly just because I've been distracted by other personal problems. But I haven't gained a single pound back, mainly because this stuff will not let you overeat. I have next to no appetite, so even when I do eat junk, I can only eat maybe 1/3 of it. I've had to remind myself to eat a few times; that's how much this has killed my appetite. The first month was rough with side effects: lots of vomiting immediately after eating, fatigue, etc. But the weight practically fell off against my will. It's a life changer!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am just shy of a month and just upped today to 2.4 dosage. In the beginning, 6 days or so, I had bad nausea, some vomiting, and constipation. I almost stopped but just stayed in the .6 for an extra week, and I have been a bit more tired, but the other side effects have gone away. It has drastically curbed my appetite, and I just weighed myself and I am down 12.4 pounds and feeling very good. I am making better food choices as I get full after eating about 1/3 of what I used to, which was big portions and seconds. I have also bumped up my activity and averaging 13,000 plus steps and 100 plus active zone minutes on my Fitbit. I am happy so far and glad I didn’t pull the plug in the first week."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "27 y, female, 228 lbs, and live in Canada. No health issues, except overweight. Medication costs about $450 a month, plus a box of needle tips that generally come with 100. So those tips should last just over 3 months. You can also get a sharps container for free at the pharmacy, not sure about in the States. It has been less than a week, and I feel less hungry. No side effects so far, I did feel a kind of warmth after my first injection and a kind of stinging pain. I do not crave sugary, greasy things. I barely eat now, so I am taking vitamins and meal replacement drinks. Do not eat anything greasy or carbonated while on this medication. You will regret it later when you get abdominal pain or even vomiting. This medication slows everything down, so you do not want that to sit long in your body. Injection does not hurt, and if it does, you are injecting it into the wrong area."

For Type 2 Diabetes "The side effects of the full dose are really awful. Food stays in my stomach for over 24 hours, causing such discomfort! After that, the nausea and vomiting. Totally not worth taking if I feel like I have the GI flu. I haven't vomited in years - until starting Victoza. I don't think I'll continue."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Victoza in February 2015 at the smallest dose, 0.6. My A1C level was over 15. By March, my A1C level went down to 10. By May, my A1C was 8.9, in September, my A1C level was 8.1. Today, October, it is 8.0. I lost a total of 15 lbs from January to now. At the lower dose, I had some nausea and diarrhea that subsided. By June, I was at the highest level of Victoza. This caused serious diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, eggy burping, and severe gas. I got off Victoza, and symptoms went away, but sugars increased. I'm now trying Farxiga, let's hope this med does just as well without side effects. I loved what Victoza did for me, but side effects were too severe. One other note: I also have IBS with diarrhea, which contributed to the severe diarrhea episodes."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started this journey on April 11th, 2016. Today is April 24th. I'm down 13 lbs. The first day was the hardest: vomit and nausea, very sleepy. The next day, symptoms gone. I'm on a 2.4 dose, and it's going well. The only thing I experience is constipation, but then again, I'm not eating like I used to. I have to force myself to eat. The only thing I can handle is yogurt. I drink a lot of water, that helps with the dry mouth. But overall, I love the results. Can't wait till my next appointment to check blood pressure and cholesterol levels."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was on this medicine for 10 days and had all the side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite, was a big one, back pain, upset stomach, painful urination, and difficulties. I was on this medicine 8 years ago and never had a problem with it. This time it was so horrible having a reaction and not knowing what to do to feel better. The doctor told me it had to run its course and get out of my system, and I would feel better. It took about 3 days when I started to feel better."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Victoza in September 2017 and have lost 40 pounds. I'm thrilled with the weight loss, however, I continue to experience vomiting and diarrhea. Anything with red sauce is a big no for me. Can anyone recommend foods that they find are easy to manage? Any feedback is helpful. Thank you for your time..."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I began taking Victoza on December 6th, 2013. Later that day, I started experiencing some stomach cramping. Saturday, DAY 2, I was experiencing weakness, a terrible headache, nausea, and sulfur burps. All of these symptoms occurred on the starter dose. Day 3, Sunday, was a little better as far as side effects. Still suffering from the terrible headache and sulfur burps. Was unable to move bowels for those first three days. Day 4, Monday, I woke to terrible stomach cramps. I was able to move my bowels. Started dry heaving, turning into throwing up bile and almost passing out. Terrible sweating and racing heartbeat. After all that, I did feel better. Contacted Dr. He advised trying half the dose and prescribed Zofran. I currently take Victoza at 1 p.m."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am on day 3 of Victoza at 0.6 mg and am miserable. Repeated episodes of nausea, vomiting, and watery diarrhea all day. Can hardly get out of bed except to go to the bathroom. We will see if I make it through the night without a repeat, but I am stopping the med. It is not worth it. I did note an immediate decrease in appetite from day one and can see how it would help my weight if side effects weren't so bad."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was at my wits' end when my PCP prescribed Victoza, and all I can say is, what a game changer. However, the side effects have been horrendous, starting with diarrhea, proceeding into a migraine, and then unbearable nausea. Week one on 0.6 started this way, but had nearly resolved by day 7. When I upped my dose to 1.2, the symptoms started all over again, exact same pattern, only this time the nausea was extreme and led to vomiting on day 8. I’ve had to miss 4 days of work and would have missed more, but I work three 12-hour shifts a week. I finally went back to 0.6 on day 8. Feeling pretty defeated, feeling like I stuck with it, missed work, and suffered all the ill effects for nothing. I was seeing great results, FBGs ~116, even had a BG of 75, but that really didn’t count since it was when I couldn’t hold any food down. Postprandial BGs ~140. This was all without insulin. I do still take 1000 mg of metformin nightly, though."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I was on Saxenda for a total of 31 weeks. Mild side effects at first; mild constipation, headache. They wore off soon. I was slow to increase my dose - staying at 1.2 mg and 1.8 mg for many weeks before increasing. Could not tolerate 2.4 mg - vomiting, sulfur gas, diarrhea. Went back down to 1.8 but never felt right again. 28 lbs lost in 34 weeks. Average weight loss 0.8 lbs per week. Pros: It helped control cravings and made me feel less hungry. Cons: The side effects. Not bad until I went past 1.8 mg. Then it was unbearable. I also found it inconvenient to take. I don’t hate needles, but it was a process. Also expensive. My insurance covered it (otherwise I wouldn’t be on it at all), but not the needles or the swabs. Traveling with it was annoying."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started Victoza 2 months ago. I was great at first. Got up to 1.8 mg. After 3 weeks, got so sick, ended up in the hospital with 2 bags of saline and anti-puke meds. Told to lower dose then go back up, so I did. And 4 weeks later I'm back to cramping and puking and diarrhea, burps that smell like rotten eggs. The first time this happened, I thought it was because of salad. Tomatoes tasted like rotten fish. Now, come to think of it, the salad and seafood. And this time I just ate seafood again. I guess better not do that anymore. I would love a bullet in the head right now, the pain is horrible. Lost 23 lbs so far. I'm hoping I can hang on for a few more months with no serious effects of it. Getting the gastric bypass..."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I took Saxenda for about 7 months. I lost around 40 pounds. I did not suffer any side effects for the first while. In the 5th month, I woke up with sulfur burps and a little vomiting. Thought I had the flu. After about 3 days, everything was fine again, and then about 6 weeks later, I got sulfur again along with heavy vomiting. Went to the doctor and stopped Saxenda for a couple of days and then started again at the lowest dose. After a few days, I was feeling horrible again, and I stopped. I could not believe how this drug was making me feel. I was lightheaded often and felt like I was in a fog. Never really realized it until I stopped. The drug did what it was supposed to do. Helped me lose weight. I did find that I got full very fast at first, but after a few months, this changed. However, I became more aware of how I should be eating, and hopefully, I can continue without Saxenda."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "This medication works! Unfortunately, I started experiencing horrible burping and vomiting. The incidents progressively got worse. It just started out as burping, then I vomited one time, then the next incident I vomited for a couple of hours, and then I was sick for two days. These did not happen all in the same week, it was random. I really want to take this med but can't stand that side effect."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have tried taking Victoza 3 times now, and I get so sick (headache, nausea, and vomiting) that I have to stop after 2 days each time. I have taken a lot of different meds in my 51 years, but nothing has ever made me that sick. I was hoping to lose about 35 lbs, but I can't stand being that sick."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'm a 44 yr. old female, 175 lbs, and 5'4'. This is my second round of Saxenda. I took it when it was first released with a good amount of success. Due to a change in our insurance, I had to stop for a year. Now I'm back on again, 3 weeks in and I'm dialed up to 1.8 and my start weight initially was 186. I'm now 175. Has anyone had the extreme vomiting and head-to-toe sweating with upper abdominal pain? This seems to happen whenever I've had bread or candy. What kind of meal plans are other people doing? It's really hard to find information regarding literally what to eat. Anyone??? Thanks in advance!!!"
