Liraglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Today is 15 days on Victoza. I have lost 8 lbs. Starting weight 207 and I am 5'6. I started the first week feeling very tired and nauseous, but after a few days, it went away. Once I upped the dose, it started again. The first week I took 0.6 mg, and now I am on 1.2 mg. I am still feeling very tired, and I have no appetite, food doesn't taste the same anymore. I have to force myself to eat. Sadly, I don't enjoy food anymore. I am happy with the weight loss, and I do feel lighter. I will continue to take it since I've read the symptoms will go away after a while. My main goal is to improve my A1C."

Liraglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I just recently started taking Victoza in August 2017. I am on my 2nd pen. I like that my sugars are no longer 495 or higher, I am actually in the mid-100s. I started out on the 1.8 dose, not the lower, like I have read everyone did, but I started out taking Trulicity, but my insurance wouldn't pay for it. Yes, I have had the bloating, cramps, god-awful smelling and tasting burps, no appetite, and I have had weight loss. I cannot stand the sight or smell of food half the time and have to force myself to eat. I lost 6 lbs in the 1st week and a half. But I am happy with what it is doing for my sugars, just wish there was a way to get rid of the burps. P.S. Tums help a little bit. Thank you all for your comments, they have made me a little less nervous."

Liraglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Started Victoza on April 21, 2017, weighing 305 lb. Started taking 0.06, and the first week had gas and insomnia, light nausea, and loss of appetite totally. BP went from 135/80 to 120/70. Week 2, increased medication to 1.2, lost 8 lbs in 2 wks. At week 4, no more side effects, weighing 288 lb. Take peppermint gel caps for nausea, and it helps with gas. I hope to get weight down to 200 lbs. No fried foods, no pizza, no soda, just fruits, meat, vegetables, steamed chicken, tuna fish, salads, smoothies, and less dairy products. Will you post? My blood sugars dropped by 50/100 points now. Can't really say too much bad about this drug, but it helped me to stay full, less eating, plenty of water."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Saxenda for 6 days now. First - 3rd day I felt like I had no appetite. Not sure if this was just in my mind or not. Day 5, more of an appetite and hungry. Today I ate quite a bit of chocolate and don’t feel too ill. Scared that I will be able to eat more and this won’t work. Can anyone relate??"

Liraglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I was on this medicine for 10 days and had all the side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite, was a big one, back pain, upset stomach, painful urination, and difficulties. I was on this medicine 8 years ago and never had a problem with it. This time it was so horrible having a reaction and not knowing what to do to feel better. The doctor told me it had to run its course and get out of my system, and I would feel better. It took about 3 days when I started to feel better."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started on Saxenda July 01, 2019. I weighed myself today, 10 days later, and I’m down 10.2 lbs. I’m embracing the weight loss; it’s exactly what I wanted, but I am sooo hungry. I have no appetite, and the foods I do eat just don’t taste right. Will this desire not to eat pass?"

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I took Saxenda at the highest dose for a total of 6 months. I had only lost about 3 lbs at week 12 but decided to continue since I had bought a 6-month supply. I had absolutely no side effects. No nausea, no loss of appetite. Did nothing for me, and at the end of 6 months, I hadn't lost a pound. VERY disappointed since I know other people who lost a ton of weight effortlessly. BTW, I had bariatric surgery 10 years ago and was trying to halt regain."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started with this drug on Tuesday, not too bad when taken at bedtime, however, I wanted my injection time to be first thing in the morning as this is much easier for me time-wise. Today was the second injection-oh my heavens, can we say morning sickness?! That is exactly what it feels like. I have virtually no appetite. I tried to eat a little something (I had been on Dr's orders to fast for blood work), so let me tell you how that went-it didn't. I could not get past the taste of food in my mouth, I was physically ill. I stopped at SBUX and bought a hot tea-oh heaven! I was able to soothe my stomach and feel a little bit better. I have to muster through work regardless of how I feel. I am hoping for results-not a miracle. Here we go!"

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started the medication 7/21. I had to change taking it at nighttime as I was so tired and nauseous. I'm so disappointed as I'm the only one who is not losing weight. 5'2'', 222 lb. I have all the side effects of the medication (nauseous, tired, slight headache (gone now), and no appetite). Overall, I eat pretty healthy and not a lot, so I don't understand why no weight loss (I'm eating even less now). I am female, 54, so menopause and thyroid issues are not helping, but I was so hopeful. Anyone else not have success? The medication is pricey, and the side effects for not working... I go up to the 3.0 dose Friday... still hoping."

Liraglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Started Victoza .6 mg dose yesterday and have had a headache, have been sleepy, no appetite, and have had vomiting. Is it worth it? We'll see. Blood glucose levels have already improved. Think I'll try dosing at night so the side effects aren't severe at work. Will post again when I know more."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Saxenda 1 week ago at 0.6. Today was my first increase to 1.2. Down 11 pounds so far. Side effects for the first 2 days on 0.6 and again on the 1st day of 1.2 are zero appetite and nausea, but after a couple of days, they go away. Starting weight of 297, hoping to get to 200. I have not exercised in the last week."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on Saxenda for a week now. Started at 206 lb, now down to 197 lb. I'm 5'6" and 32 years old. I'm only on the first dose of 0.6 ml, and it's stopping all the bad cravings. I don't have much of an appetite. I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the month is going to go. My goal is 160 lbs, so hopefully this will continue to work as well as it has been."

Liraglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Victoza 1.2 mg for about a year along with 1000 mg Metformin 2x per day. When I first started it, I was on the 0.6 mg dose, and I had zero side effects, but since upping to 1.2 mg, I have had constant nausea and very little appetite. I occasionally will get powerful sulfur burps followed by vomiting. The medicine does keep my sugar under control, my last A1C was 6.0."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’m a 44-year-old 5’3” female. I started Saxenda last week at 233 lbs and today weighed 227. I have been amazed to watch 1.5 - 0.5 lbs go every day. My appetite isn’t 100% gone, but when I start to eat, I can’t finish anything! Before this drug, my appetite was insatiable. I’m not really having any side effects other than not being hungry. On day 3, I decided to go ahead and increase from 0.6 to 1.2. I was tolerating it fine and am desperate for results. Right now, this seems like a miracle."

Liraglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking this medication for a month now. I walk 2 miles every day and follow the recommended diet, and my numbers are good. However, I have been experiencing bad stomach cramps. It started around the first month, but I am not sure if it's due to the medication or a virus. Has anyone else experienced cramps, nausea, slight lightheadedness, and loss of appetite? I weighed 250 pounds before starting the medication, and now I weigh 220 pounds, which I don't think is bad considering I am 6 feet tall."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I decided to try this medication after a friend seemed to be losing weight on it. I'm taking 2.4 mg and in week number 5. I am an undereater anyway and never hungry, so not sure this was the right medication for me. I thought it stabilized blood sugar? Hope it's not just an appetite suppressant. I have lost 3 lbs, which is very disappointing. I will go up to 3 mg today, but if I don't lose anything again this week, then I will probably stop... My question - anyone experience needing longer time and the full dose to start losing weight?"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I stopped drinking and started the Saxenda 90 days ago. I have lost 25 lbs, and I feel great. Initially, I had zero appetite, it has come back slightly, and I find that I am not interested in full meals at all. This has been an amazing journey. I am within 15 lbs of my goal weight! YEAH!!"

Liraglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I've started Victoza almost 2 months ago. Was doing well the first few days. Then, about 4 days in, had a bad night of vomiting. Didn't really eat the next day, then it seemed to subside. I don't have any appetite and have been eating mainly veggies and some fruits. Increased to 1.2, and again, about 3 days in, had the vomiting and this time diarrhea. Again, only 1 day, and it went away. Tried increasing to 1.8, but can't handle it. My doctor said to just continue with 1.2 for now. Been good for about 2 weeks until last night. I have been vomiting and really bad diarrhea since about 10:30 pm. It's now 1:30 pm the next day and still diarrhea. I can't even keep water down. I've lost about 20 lbs so far, but this isn't worth it. Not sure I can continue taking this and getting sick..."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Male, 6 ft, 240 lbs. Started on 0.6 mg 3 days ago: 1st day no appetite, slight nausea, slight headache, burping, acid regurgitation, tired, ate 1800 calories (normally struggle to keep to 2000). 2nd day, more nausea, more headache, ate only 1500 cals. Distaste for food. Tired. 3rd day, very nauseous, bad headache & muscle pain in neck/shoulder, pain in gallbladder, ate 1300 cals reluctantly. That night (last night) I felt very sick, bowels purged contents (but not diarrhea), moaning with pain & nausea, dry retching. Today (day 4) will go off this drug and only use 0.6 mg every 3 days. This is not advised by the manufacturer but may work for me. Will update later."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am on my third day of Saxenda, the first day felt tired and very nauseous. Second and third day have no appetite whatsoever. I had a box of pizza in front of me and couldn't even finish one slice when before I would be eating no less than four slices. I have been eating in really small portions and can't possibly eat more than a few bites. All my cravings are gone. And I find myself eating really slow, trying to get food down. I started at 0.6, and on the third day went up to 1.2 until I get to 6.0."

Liraglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "This review is based on my dad’s experience with Victoza. Definitely a drug that takes adjusting to. My dad’s A1C was at a level where we feared for his life, levels around 15-19, and he would not tell us, but I knew he was not doing well and took him to a specialist. The doctor suggested Victoza, and we started adjusting it as directed. By the time he got to 1.8, the symptoms were unbearable: sick, nausea, no appetite. We decided to bring it down to 1.2. He was still feeling slight discomfort, and I told him to take it right before bed. This change has made his quality of life 100% better! He’s so happy and feeling better than he has in years! He’s only been on it for 2 months, and A1C is down around 6-7. We are afraid of the long-term side effects and will ask the doctor since this drug is supposed to help your body promote insulin. First, can he lower it even more, and how long is he expected to be on this drug? So far, great experience, but we are proceeding with caution and testing regularly."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Victoza, 0.6 mg, only 3 days ago. I immediately felt nauseated, weak, and had no appetite. I did not want to eat, I could scarcely make myself eat. On day 4, before I had taken my 4th dose, I got severe lower abdominal pain and burning diarrhea. I felt very ill and sat on the toilet all day. I took Prilosec, Imodium, sips only of water, and felt really horrible. I will speak with my doctor about this, but I will not take this medication again."

Liraglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'm non-diabetic but have hypothyroidism. My doctor suggested Victoza for the weight loss, which was gained due to thyroid issues. I started Victoza 0.6 mg on 25/7/18, then increased the dosage to 1.2 mg from 31/7/18. Yes, significant loss of appetite. My weight is not coming off, yes, but I can see some difference when I look into the mirror in terms of inch loss. I have been an athlete, so exercise and weight training are something I regularly do, and I also have an average diet plan with proteins. I was just waiting and wondering about when I can see a proper weight loss on the measuring scale. But I'm confident it will be soon..."
