For Edema "I have CHF and unfortunately, edema comes with the territory. Thankful to have Lasix (furosemide), what I call my "miracle drug". Yes, Lasix has many side effects, but it has saved my life on more than one occasion, both at home and during hospitalization. In the past, I have had home emergencies where my fluid retention was out control and I was short of breath and had to double my Lasix dosage and within an hour or less, I was breathing normally. My cardiologist started me on 40 mgs of Lasix once a day, than 20 mgs, and I'm presently on 40 mgs twice daily. In the past, I have been on the VENTILATOR 3 times due to fluid retention around my heart and in my lungs. I can say without a doubt that my "miracle drug" Lasix, is one of the reasons I was able to survive for close to 20 years with CHF. Pray for a CHF cure. God Bless Everyone."

Lasix (furosemide) for Edema "I was originally taking 40 mg of Lasix, until my cardio doc raised it to 80 mg. I felt so out of it and lost side vision a couple of times, so I decided to go back to 40, and things felt better. I've never had constipation to the level that I needed a laxative every few days. After a blood test, my regular doc said my potassium was at 2.9 and upped my potassium pills. After doing that for a few days, I ended up at the ER where my potassium was at 2.7 and while I was there, it went to 2.3, despite bags of IV potassium. They admitted me for over a day with constant IVs AND pills of potassium, and they told me to quit the Lasix. My level was at 3.3 when I was discharged, which is still a little low. I did gain 12 pounds in 2 days...a rebound effect? PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR POTASSIUM LEVELS, VERY IMPORTANT. Also, your chloride and magnesium. Now I'm on microzide and a potassium-sparing diuretic, and I feel more leveled out. My #2s are normal now also. BE CAUTIOUS."

For High Blood Pressure "Works well for me. I get fluid in my lungs when I was overweight, it strained my heart and wasn’t beating strong. I stopped having these problems since I’ve been taking furosemide and eating healthy and losing all that weight."

For Pulmonary Edema "Great relief for getting fluid out of my lungs. I had not needed to use it for quite some time. But I became infected again with a serious viral bronchitis and have had to administer furosemide once or twice a day at 20mg to dry out. it works like magic. I'm prescribed 40mg but break it half. The only issue I'm having is you can't see inside, so you don't exactly"

For High Blood Pressure "Furosemide 40mg pill works wonders for me. I have no complaints. Humana is presently filling my prescription and they've changed my furosemide, an entirely different pill that has a 17 imprinted instead of what has been working that has a 40mg imprinted. I have just spoken with Humana and was advised to have another pharmacy fill the furosemide 40mg going forward. I am not able to wear shoes because of the fluid, which has me extremely swollen in my body and my kidneys can't handle the pressure of the fluid throughout my body, lungs, and heart. I will pay for my prescription. I just want my body to not appear like I'm blown up. Everything is tight or just not fitting."

For Heart Failure "In the ER... worked like a charm. Felt like a new man. But now I don't think that it's working for me. I'm on all kinds of pills now, so I can't tell what's working or not. I can go all day without taking a leak, though, so what does that say? I have no idea. LOL! Told my doctor how I was doing last week, and he just added one more script. I'm now on seven different pills, three of which have commercials and catchy songs and an extremely steep price. I don't want to do this anymore. I can't do it, I should've said. Sucks 'cause I'm only 53 and feeling 83... I'm done."

"I have an enlarged prostate and suffered from frequent nighttime visits to pee. This was tiring with 5-6 toilet visits every night. My GP gave me furosemide to try, and it has made a huge difference. Yes, I pee more during the day, but as long as I do not drink after 6:30 pm, then more often than not, I sleep all night with no interruptions. Another side effect is losing weight - a bonus. UK.
