For Hypertriglyceridemia "Fenofibrate caused a slow increase in serum creatinine from 1.1 to 2.1 and a chronic renal failure-like situation without any symptoms of CKD. However, fully recovered the serum creatinine levels and normal kidney functions after stopping fenofibrate oral."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "Great product. No side effects, just don't take it without food in your stomach. Here are my stats: 36 yo M, 175 cm, and 185 lbs, waist circumference 104 cm. Dyslipidemia. High cholesterol and higher triglycerides. Took 2 months, triglycerides from 371 to 42, cholesterol from 297 to 114, HDL from 42 to 23, LDL from 74 to 72. Lost 7 lbs. I stopped eating pasta, rice, red meat, and no beer. Side effects: messed up my liver enzymes, which only I knew because of an offshore medical checkup. I stopped taking it so I can get a FIT certificate."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "First month had some heavy side effects. Nausea being the worst, stomach pain, back pain, right shoulder pain (still there), most have subsided after second month. Had triglycerides over 4000. Now at around 300 because of the medicine. Life-saving for me. Though if you miss a dose or eat the wrong thing, you know it. Plus, no alcohol ever again. Sad but I can be alive to see my son grow up. Small price to pay to live."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "Just started this medication, fenofibrate. Triglycerides were 491 WITHOUT FASTING test. S/E: very sleepy, shoulder pain. I suffer from panic disorder, so not sure if the chest pain is from that or the medicine."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "This is my second round with fenofibrate. Each time, I developed muscle pain and weakness to the point it inhibited my exercise. My creatine phosphokinase (CPK) levels are elevated. Fortunately, my PCP listens to me. I convinced her that my exercise can be more beneficial than this drug for me. I feel like I’ve been in a brawl. I found it difficult just to get out of bed. I was only back on it for less than a month."

"This new medicine has brought my triglycerides down from 800 to 300. So far, I have no side effects. I have been taking it for 2 months. I tried TriCor, and it never changed my triglyceride levels. This is a miracle drug."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "Had triglycerides level of 460+. Took Fenofibrate 160 mg (Mylan). Within a month, dropped to 132. I was 5'8", 182 pounds. Started eating less, dropping about a pound a week. Did not feel hungry. Side effects after 8 weeks of Fenofibrate experienced an SVT (Supraventricular Tachycardia) event. Trip to the Emergency Room with heartbeats per minute > 200, which lasted 3 hours. Given adenosine IV. Continued Fenofibrate. Trip to cardiologist. Heart echo (ultrasound) found normal 60+ year-old heart. In another 6 weeks, had another SVT. Heartbeat > 180 beats per minute. Visited PCP and requested medicine change to Lipitor or Crestor, which in addition to lower cholesterol, may also work on triglycerides. YMMV (Your mileage may vary)."

For Hyperlipoproteinemia "Well, after blood work revealed extremely high cholesterol, I've been taking fenofibrate 54 mg for a month now, and I'm a diabetic with an overly enlarged heart and in renal kidney failure. After reading this, anyone experiencing my serious health issues SHOULD NOT BE TAKING THIS STUFF. It could be fatal, not to mention the side effects I'm dealing with: loss of appetite, nausea bad, severe muscle and joint cramps, pain, weakness, always dizzy, lightheaded, the most irritating itching rash like you can't believe. I feel like things are crawling all over me. I literally have scars from scratching myself raw. Ugh, screw this, I'm stopping immediately, high cholesterol or not. I can't take the shoulder pain and the dang rash, itching. Why this type of medication is being used with these types of severe side effects completely baffles me."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "I started taking fenofibrate and began to have breathing issues. It was during winter, and I always get bronchitis, so I thought nothing of it. I have a very good sense of smell but noticed that now I cannot smell anything. I have had a runny nose so bad that I started taking meds for that, but I’m congested at the same time. I have also had nosebleeds for months and never had this before, ever. I didn’t realize that when I miss the medication, my nose issues stop. Today I looked up side effects, and they are a lot to do with breathing and nasal. I will not be taking this anymore."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "I was prescribed this medicine to address high triglyceride and low HDL levels. In eight months of using fenofibrate and adjusting my diet, my total cholesterol went down 30%, my LDL went from 106 to 80, HDL went from 33 to 44, and my triglyceride numbers plummeted over 75% from 300 to 70. The side effect I experienced was a weight gain of 10 pounds within the first month, and it stayed at that level for the eight-month period. I did not experience any other side effect. The cost of medication with insurance is $15 a month."

For High Cholesterol "Started taking this for osteoarthritis on advice from my pain doctor. My primary wanted me to try another statin, but the last one gave me terrible joint pain. I have had 0 side effects and it lowered my LDL from 75 to 59. That's a whopping 30% reduction which is better than some statins. It also lowered my triglycerides 50%. I know most people only get a 10% reduction, but I read research that indicated those with normal triglycerides can get a 20% or more lowering of LDL with this med. I am very happy with the results. Helped me reach my LDL target without a statin."

For Hyperlipoproteinemia "Was put on fenofibrate by my doctor, and 12 days later I had to stop due to extreme fatigue, rash on hands and arms, pain in upper right chest, felt tired all the time. It did not seem to agree with me, so I'm back to square one."

Fenofibrate for Hyperlipoproteinemia Type IIa, Elevated LDL "Changed from Lipitor to Lipofen. My LDL was controlled, trigs were also good. Best result is my HDL, which was always below 40 for years, increased to 48. Have some concern about the increase in creatine level."

For Hyperlipoproteinemia Type IIa, Elevated LDL "My doctor prescribed Fenofibrate for me almost a month ago to help lower my bad LDL cholesterol. To be totally honest, I haven't experienced any side effects, and it has been almost a month now. I'm not doubting anyone's comments on this medication. But me, 'personally,' I haven't had any problems at all. I do hope that your doctors find the right medication to work perfectly with getting you on the right meds..."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "I took fenofibrate for about 35 days. I noticed my feet swelling and had trouble walking due to pain in my knees after 3 weeks of taking it. During the last week of taking it, I had swelling in my elbow to the point of not being able to raise my arm above chest level. My doctor did NOT mention any side effects, nor did the pharmacist. I notified my doctor’s office that I had stopped taking it, no return phone calls. A week later, my wife called, and the nurse said I should be in the hospital because I couldn’t walk more than 20 feet with the help of crutches. It’s been about 3 months, and I have noticed the swelling, along with pain in my feet, ankles, and knees, seems to cycle every week or so. Use of this drug should include a list of side effects and precautions. I am changing to a new doctor."

"My triglyceride was high, so my doctor put me on this medicine, 145 mg fenofibrate. I have been taking it for 28 days now. I noticed I am very tired and weak, as well as pains in my feet, shoulders, headache, and chest. I was on Simvastatin before, which never bothered me. I am going to stop this medicine and contact my doctor."

For Hyperlipoproteinemia "I have been taking this med for approx. 3 months after trying statins, which I was unable to tolerate. My total cholesterol dropped to almost normal, and my HDL, LDL, and triglycerides were all down to acceptable levels. This has worked fantastically with almost no side effects. The only effect that may be from this med (and could be from one of my other meds) is occasional headaches."

Fenofibrate for Hypertriglyceridemia "This drug has helped me in a month go from 432 on my triglycerides to 339. Had slight side effects (minor nausea and constipation), however, the slight side effects don't nearly come close to the health benefits I'm receiving. It has also lowered my blood sugar 50-75 points on average. I went from possibly going into the ICU to being in no immediate danger in a month or less time."

Fenofibrate for Hypertriglyceridemia "Tricor did nothing for me alone, which is 145 mg of fenofibrate. After taking Vascepa alone and having some success, the doctor added 160 mg of fenofibrate, and I said I would try it to appease him. It actually did help to lower my triglycerides significantly."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "Was placed on this for hypercholesterolemia, incidentally, my triglycerides were high as well. Can't really say if this has helped or not. I suspect another medication, Abilify, was responsible for the hypercholesterolemia and high triglycerides. I quit the Abilify, and the last time I had my levels checked, I was told I was normal. Again, can't say if this has helped, can't say it hasn't."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "My triglycerides were 600 when I started taking fenofibrate. Within 30 days they had dropped to half of that (300), and now they are even lower. Simply a great medicine. At first, I thought it had bad side effects, but I slowly came to realize I imagined that."
