For Birth Control "I've had the implant in for a little over a year now. I remember reading these reviews before getting my implant and feeling very unsure. I want to remind people that people are more likely to leave a review for a BAD experience than a GOOD experience. Since getting the implant, I had one period that lasted about 3 weeks. It wasn't bad. Since then, no periods! It's like a dream. No other ill side effects - my sex drive is fine, no mood swings, and NO BABIES. I would highly recommend trying this. If you experience bleeding for 5+ weeks, CALL YOUR DOCTOR, and they will probably remove it and recommend something else. It won't work for everyone, but it might work for you like it did for me. Just call your doc if anything feels wrong!"

For Birth Control "I got the implant in the hospital after giving birth. I’ve had it for about three months now, and so far, I haven’t had any issues. I also haven’t had any kind of irregular bleeding, and my periods have stopped completely."

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon in November. Started my period right away. My period lasted until March. The only reason it stopped was because my gyno put me on the pill with the Nexplanon for a month. Using that method, it kind of 'reset' my period, so no more bleeding! I love the Nexplanon because it is easy! But if you are having trouble bleeding, I recommend trying to go on the pill too just for a month. You will be period-free while on the pill, then have a period for a week, then be done bleeding!"

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon in June of 2013, so I have had it for almost 2 years now. I bled for a week right after getting it and nothing else since. I have had no complications with it at all. I'm still really young and don't plan on kids for a while, so it was the best decision I have ever made. Good luck."

For Birth Control "I used to be an extremely bubbly, happy, and very sexual person. I've had the Nexplanon for a little over a month, and my weight has stayed almost the same (I went from 140 to 135). I'm very active and generally up for anything. After having the Nexplanon implanted, I've been miserable. I have at least 2 to 3 anxiety attacks weekly, I'm moody, hateful, irritable, and downright not myself. My poor boyfriend is trying to be a trooper, but I can barely contain my own feelings. My sex drive is GONE, whereas previously I was craving sex twice a day! I don't feel like myself. I had my period for 2 straight weeks after implantation, and now I'm bleeding very lightly continuously. I'm giving it a couple more weeks before I call to have it removed."

For Birth Control "Had implant for 14 years. Bled a lot with the first one for a few months. Fine since. With the 4th, I started getting migraines, but they settled. I do think I turn into a psychopath when it gets changed for a bit, but then it settles. I had to swap arms as I started getting pinching from the scar tissue, which wasn't very nice. All in all, it works."

For Birth Control "I've had the implant for almost 2 years and bled for almost 2 months to begin. Each month following, I would have heavy bleeding once or twice a month, irregular periods, long periods. Once, I was bleeding very heavily for about 4 weeks and had to go to the hospital as I felt like I was slowly dying from blood loss. I used to be on the pill, which at the time I didn't realize how crazy it made me until after I stopped, and now realize the Implanon is the reason I have been depressed, unhappy, anxious, and fatigued. I'm getting this out next week and planning to use Natural Cycles for a while to rid my body of excess hormones. My friend had a nerve wrap around her Implanon, which caused numbness down her whole arm. Other friends have experienced mood changes and generally not feeling themselves. One friend had this in after having a baby, and to my knowledge has had no issues with it, so it really does depend on the person."

For Birth Control "I’m 19, and I got the Nexplanon implant on 3/7/19. I have been bleeding NONSTOP since then. Whether it’s huge blood clots, brown discharge, or light pink watery discharge, it has been nonstop. I’m always tired, even when I get a good amount of sleep. My acne is worse than it’s ever been. I could deal with the fatigue and acne if I could actually have pleasurable sex where I didn’t have to worry about disappointing my partner or getting blood on the sheets (I’m in a serious relationship). So many pairs of underwear have been ruined, and so much money spent on tampons since I have had to use one EVERY DAY. I tried giving it a year to get my body used to it, but we don’t work well together. Never got pregnant, though! I recommend trying it out and seeing if it works for you, but it definitely does not work for me! Only giving it a 1 because I didn’t get pregnant!"

For Birth Control "This birth control has had me bleeding since December 2014. It is now June 2015. I hate this so much. My doctor didn't even tell me this was going to happen. I went back, and she said if it doesn't stop in 6 months, then I need to get it out. It has been 6 months of nonstop bleeding, and now I have to get it removed. It would have been nice to have been aware of this before getting it put in. Some people bleed for a couple of weeks or maybe a month, and others for as long as it's in them. I do not like this birth control at all. It has made me break out, gain weight, eat so much more, and I've gone through about 7 jumbo boxes of tampons."

For Birth Control "Got my first Nexplanon Nov. 2016, bled irregularly for about 6 months as expected (basically every other week but no unbearable cramping like my normal period), and then all periods just stopped. No cramps, no blood, no mood swings. As someone with a history of depression and anxiety, this didn’t have any impact at all. No acne, no weight gain. During the last 6 months before it needed to be replaced, I started bleeding again. I went to my gyn, and they put me on the pill for a few months to boost the hormones. No more bleeding since then either. Love my no-baby stick, just got it replaced!"

For Birth Control "I love Implanon. I went to my doctor to complain about my birth control pills (different kinds for 6 years) that caused mood swings, breakouts, etc. She suggested Implanon, and in 20 minutes I walked out with it! It does not hurt. It looks intimidating, but they numb your arm and afterwards it feels like a normal bruise. I have had it for 6 months now. I have no period and no side effects! No mood swings, no breakthrough bleeding, no breakouts, it's amazing."

For Birth Control "I am 21, and had Nexplanon put in 7 months ago. This is the first time I've ever been on birth control. I have gained a little bit of weight, and my breasts have gotten bigger. Sometimes I am hungry all the time for days, other times I am nauseous every time I eat. I get irritated easily and more often. But the worst is the bleeding. I bled for 3 months straight after I got it. It stopped for a week and a half, then bled for 3 weeks, stopped for a week, bled for two months, stopped for about a month, and now I have been bleeding for more than 2 weeks. It's never been spotting, it's a full-on period all the time. As convenient and effective as it is, I cannot handle the constant heavy bleeding. I am considering getting it removed."

For Birth Control "Your body will either love or hate the Implanon. I had the Implanon for one and a half years, and for me, it was bad. I gained 5 kg and would go through these cycles - two weeks on, two weeks off - of non-stop bleeding, mood swings that nearly altered my personality, and a huge increase in anxiety. I actually thought I was mentally unwell, and my doctor was so reluctant to take it out, over and over again convincing me to keep it in. But then I insisted on switching to Yaz, which worked beautifully with my body - I am myself again, losing weight was easier (I'm back to my usual weight), and my cycle is back to normal."

For Birth Control "If you're one of those girls who wouldn't stop bleeding with the Depo shot, then I suggest you don't get it. I have had my period for the last four months, and I don't see it going away anytime soon. This wouldn't normally bother me, but recently it's been affecting my sex life. My boyfriend wants to wait for my period to go away. Unfortunately, that may not be for the next 2 years and 8 months when it's time for me to get this removed. It's a great strategy for preventing pregnancy. Except, for me, it's also preventing me from even having sex. This was supposed to let me have sex without worrying about getting pregnant. I don't have to worry about getting pregnant because this also seems to prevent sex."

For Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon in Nov 2013. It is definitely the most effective and easiest form of birth control I have experienced. The first 3 months I had some spotting and breakthrough bleeding. Then after 3 months I quit having periods. I have to admit that part is nice! However, I have gained about 25 pounds, averaging 10 pounds per year. I work out on weekends, eat healthy and do what I can to control it, but it seems to have minimal impact. I have always been thin. I'm 5'9.5 and had been approximately 130-135 for the past 8 years. Now I'm between 155-160. Also, the weight I have put on makes me look pregnant. I have been more mellow, and my sex drive has drastically lowered."

For Birth Control "It was horrible, not motivation for everything! Ruining my relationship with my partner, now ex. I bled since the day I started it, November 22, since the day I got it removed, April 7. My libido was gone, I was no longer sexually interested. I was depressed, suicidal, the mood swings were so bad, dizziness, weakness, and a lot of sleeping. I felt like I would just sleep my life away, but at least I’m not pregnant. It’s different for everyone, but I 100% do not recommend."

For Birth Control "I really don't know why this had a lot of bad reviews because I love this birth control! Getting it out in your arm isn't even bad because they numb it. I bruised badly around the area for a week or two. I got my period once, and then it stopped. I didn't have any irregular bleeding and did not gain weight, if anything, I lost weight. This is a great birth control if you aren't well at taking pills at the same time every day. No worries for 3 years!"

For Birth Control "I got this birth control almost a year ago. In the beginning, my periods remained the same. For about 2 months, I bled every other week. It was hardly bleeding. More like spotting. Now, for the past couple of months, I've been skipping periods. Overall, the bleeding is irregular. But it's a small price to pay for the luxury of this birth control. I don't have to remember to take pills. I have not had any weight gain. No hair loss. I have not gotten pregnant. My sex drive is the same. My moods are the same. I have not had any negative side effects besides irregular bleeding. This is the first and only birth control I have ever taken, and so far, it's been working just fine."

For Birth Control "I am very, very, very pleased with the Implanon! I did the research before getting mine and decided that (after all, everything- including oral contraceptives- have risks) it was worth it to me. I got my Implanon in September of 2009. Insertion did hurt, they use local anesthetic (lidocaine) to numb the area first, and that's all that hurt. I didn't actually feel the insertion at all. I had an irregular bleeding cycle for about a month and a half, and since then I have had NOTHING! It is now July of 2010, and I am very pleased with the results. I don't have to worry about keeping up with a daily or monthly option, don't have a period, and I am NOT pregnant (which is, after all, the whole point). I tell anyone who will listen how great the Implanon is!"

For Birth Control "Do not get Nexplanon. I've been bleeding for 4 months at a stretch, and I have been so depressed since I got this. I wake up every day with a heavy heart and a mind, and I feel horrible all the time about my body, skin, and my life. I hate this thing."

For Birth Control "I have been using Nexplanon for 12 years with no breaks, and I'm about to receive my 5th implant. As you can probably tell from my continued commitment, I find that the pros of the implant strongly outweigh the cons. Firstly, there are side effects (like most medication). I did receive a little weight gain, I can be a little moody sometimes, and my breasts and tummy get very tender once a month, but although I have the hormonal effect of a monthly period, I very rarely (once every 3 months) receive very light bleeding/spotting. What's most important to me is that I have never had a child or been pregnant, which is the purpose of the contraception. Everyone will react differently. You know what is best for your body."

For Birth Control "I chose Nexplanon because I have never been able to remember the pill. After inserting Nexplanon, I bled constantly for six months. I have had Nexplanon in for a little less than two years and still bleed all the time. Every time my husband and I are intimate, I start my cycle that has been going on for two years. It is effective as a birth control, but the bleeding is annoying and gets expensive when you are always buying feminine products."

For Birth Control "Well, I have had this implant since March, and it is now August. I am very impressed with this product. I did pills, shots, IUDs (don’t recommend at all), and none of those worked for me. I never remembered to take my pill (thank God I was single). Shots were too much of a hassle with the bone thing, and the IUD nearly fused with my uterus, causing me incredible amounts of pain. I have yet to run into any problems emotionally, and the constant bleeding only lasted a month until my body got used to it. My periods were horrible, but now they are only 3 days long and very light, with hardly any cramping at all! There are a lot of people who gain weight with this BC, but I have a good workout regimen, so I’m good. Not to mention, I think most people who try a product and it works well won’t make the effort to comment on it because they have nothing negative to say. Don’t let scary stories keep you from trying what looks best for you."

For Birth Control "Nexplanon was the worst decision I ever made. I got it in October, bled for 6 months straight. Got it taken out in April. Killed my sex drive. Gained 20 pounds, which I can't get rid of. I was extremely emotional and depressed. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone. It was the worst thing I've ever done to myself."

For Birth Control "I got this implant a few weeks ago, and after 3 days, I experienced a serious mood swing, which then became an underlying depressed mood. For the next few weeks, my anxiety got so bad I could barely eat. My mood swings became absolutely crazy, and I became suicidal. I have had problems with anxiety in the past, but this made it a million times worse. I cry about everything, I am scared to be alone with my thoughts, I can barely recognize myself. I have been so rude to everyone around me and pushed everyone away. It has interfered with my relationships, mainly with my partner. I quickly decided that I did not want to keep it in any longer, and I got it out. I only had it in for around 3 weeks, and I felt its impact on my mental health. I hope that removing it will improve my mental health and I'll be myself soon. I forgot to say that I was constantly bleeding too, why would I want to be permanently bleeding while on birth control? I don't recommend the implant at all."
