Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I just want to say thank you to all the ladies who shared their experiences with nexplanon on here. I actually got my prescription, and made an appointment with my doctor to get the nexplanon inserted in two days time. Deep down though, I felt uneasy about the whole thing. I thought that the feeling would go away, but as my appointment date got closer, the uneasiness grew stronger. I thought I'd do some further research for a peace of mind, and then I found this forum, and I am so glad I did! I have suffered (still do) from anxiety and depression for most of my life, and having read that so many womens mental health declined further after getting on the nexplanon, was just the confirmation I needed. I also read that some women didn't have any negative side effects and that's awesome, BUT it's not a risk I am willing to take. Thanks heaps ladies, I'll be cancelling my appointment today!"

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "Nexplanon completely uprooted my life. Although I never gained weight (I actually lost 20lbs) I experienced the most intense anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts of my entire life. Every single day I would wake up in a panic attack, and falling asleep was nearly impossible. My brain would never turn off, and the intrusive thoughts would cause me to break down in tears daily. My hair started falling out and thinning. I would get irrational fears that would consume me to the point of never leaving my house and trying to spend all of my time sleeping to avoid reality. I’m getting it removed in 9 days, and I really hope this stops. I nearly took my own life because of this implant, it made all of the vibrancy drain from my life- I even had to break up with my romantic partner because I just couldn’t energetically show up for the relationship due to the depression and anxiety."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I got this inserted 3 years ago, my arm hurt for one day with no bruising, and then I literally forgot about it for the remaining time. No periods ever, and never once pregnant. No weight gain. Most convenient form of birth control ever used, but it may just be the way my body has reacted. Got it reinserted for the next 3 years and got some bruising, but not too bad."

Implanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I LOVE my Implanon. Insertion was quick and pain-free. The bruising only lasted a week or two. I had one week of very very light spotting, and a few headaches. Tylenol fixed the headaches. I haven't had that problem in a month or so. I breastfeed, and did not notice any change in my supply. No weight gain or appetite side effects, either. In fact, I am starting to lose my baby weight now. I would definitely get this birth control again!!! I will have it removed and replaced with another Implanon when this one runs out. Remember, almost all of the reviews are negative because the only people that want to write about it are the ones who don't like it. There's lots of people who love it, too."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "DON'T DO IT SIS! I went on Nexplanon about 2 years ago & these have been my side effects 1. Unrelenting Cystic acne. 2. Extremely long periods - Sometimes up to a month. 3. Extreme Anxiety and Depression - THIS WAS THE WORST - I suddenly felt suicidal. I tried very hard to fight this on my own. I deleted all my social media accounts, limited phone time, was deliberate about music and TV and spent time with people who I felt were good for me. No matter what, I would cry. Everything would trigger me - books, tv shows, compliments EVERYTHING. I was always sad, I would look in the mirror and just start crying. Mediation didn't work, my positive affirmations didn't work, going vegan didn't work, avoiding alcohol and coffee didn't work, getting dressed up or doing things I loved didn't work. The only thing that worked was taking it out. I have had it out for two weeks now. I still have the acne, some of the weight gain but suddenly I can cope. Don't do it sis!"

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "NuvaRing gave me hormonal hot flashes, and I found it hard to take my Loestrin 24 Fe at the same time every day, so I decided to try Nexplanon. I am a 23 year old college graduate, and I am 3 weeks into my Nexplanon. Granted, it hasn't been long, but my experience so far is AMAZING. Ladies, I want to make sure all of you know that birth control works differently with every woman, and most reviews online are from negative experiences, for I was so nervous to get this inserted because of all the negative online reviews. Here's how my experience has been so far: extremely clear skin, no breakthrough bleeding or spotting, no mood swings, pain, headaches or nausea, bigger breasts. I'm in love. Don't believe every negative review."

Implanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "December 1 2008, I had the Implanon inserted and have had problems since. I have mood swings like crazy. I am now taking depression and anxiety pill because they think it was postpartum depression. It's not though. I have been snapping at my 7 month old son and husband. I was admitted to green leaf since they thought I was a danger to my family. Turned out that the Implanon is causing this. I cry all the time for no reasons and I am now taking depression and anxiety pills. I bleed all the time. The Implanon has been hurting since I had it done, I have gained 25lbs because of this as well. I am taking it out this week for the sake of me and my family."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I got nexplanon in Aug 2018. Honestly the worst birth control experience I’ve had. I have month long periods (with only 3 weeks in between cycles), complete with cramping, bloating and irritability for the entire duration. My anxiety and depression has skyrocketed, along with suicidal thoughts. I get severe migraines now (never had in the past), my sex drive is completely gone, and I’ve been getting horrible acne on my face and back (also didn’t have in the past). I feel a constant fatigue. I gained 20lbs in the first 6 months of having it, and can’t seem to lose the weight no matter how hard I try. And on top of all - recently I’ve started getting shooting pain around the site of my implant, and my whole arm feels numb and weak when that happens. I’m getting it removed in 2 weeks because I cannot continue with all of these side effects."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I currently have the Nexplanon bar in my left arm and am finding it horrible physically, mentally and emotionally. The first month I woke every night at 4am dripping in sweat (in winter) and experienced hot flushes everyday randomly. I’ve bled everyday for the last 2 months and in the last 2 weeks have broken out in pimples. I feel completely disconnected to myself as a woman, my usual cycle has been replaced by constant irregular bleeding that leaves me irritable and moody. I’m finding myself questioning every thought/feeling/reaction because I no longer know when my hormones/cycle are effecting my moods which is taking its toll on my mental health. My anxiety has never been worse. I have zero sex drive or desire to be touched, which is taking a huge toll on my relationship. I feel there’s a complete lack of caution from GP’s when prescribing this product. I’m having it removed ASAP."

Implanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "Love this birth control. Please don't read all the negativity- every medicine has POSSIBLE side effects and the people who deal with those are more common to blog about it than the ones who have no issues with it. I've had it for 2.5 years and I've never had any issues and side effects. Some of my friends have also gotten it and love it just as much as I do!"

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "First, I've spotted on and off with this birth control. Over a year of it. Second, I can't lose weight for anything. After diets, exercise, you name it I can't lose weight. I've been the same weight maybe a few lbs more for a year. Third, I have no desire to be touched or even want to have sex. My sex drive doesn't exist. This all started when I got on this. I'm getting it removed this month. No other birth control has ever done this to me. It's not for me personally."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for about 6 months and I love it! Its helping me balance my weight, I lost 10 pounds on it! I have constant spotting with it but its not heavy and it doesn't leave anything on my underwear at all so that's pretty cool. 10/10 recommend."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I got Nexplanon in May of 2017. It was amazing for the first 2 years. I had no issues. In August I began having panic attacks. Thinking it was because of the birth control I went and had it removed. The panic attacks didn't stop. It's November and I'm still dealing with horrible anxiety. I wake up in the middle of the night in a panic feeling like I'm going it is the end of my life. I have had confusion, depression, depersonalization, headaches, palpitations, increased heart rate. Sometimes it feels like I'm high and detached from my surroundings and myself. This has been the worst experience of my life by far. Some days are better than others. I'd like to see a doctor to be sure this isn't being brought on by any other medical issues but at the time I don't have insurance. My hope is to let others be aware what this implant is capable of and to see if anyone can relate to my story. I hope I find relief soon."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I have had nexplanon implant nearly 3 years after having my son. Initially I noticed that I started experiencing headaches, period pains but without the periods and I thought I could bear this. I liked the idea of not having any periods for the whole 2 years but as soon as I started to bleed I noticed it was irregular. I didn't like this at all and sometimes noticed some blood clots. I remember at one point I had to go to the hospital for breathlessness, tiredness and had never experienced this before. I have noticed I continue to get chest pains and I have had muscle aches all over my body almost every day. I have also had panic attacks too. I have also gained weight and I don't easily do. Its due to be removed in 2 months but I am scared to get it removed because of fear of contracting Covid19. Lately, I have become bloated, have pain in my left lower abdomen and my breasts are sore. I have no idea how I can get this removed without risking my health. I want it out!"

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "The worst experience of my entire life!! I have always struggled with anxiety a little but I have always been on some kind on contraception since an early age due to acne and looking back I don’t think the hormones ever really helped my anxiety but this time last year I was so happy, the happiest I had ever been . I then got the implant and the nightmare of side effects started. • extremely emotional • Thrush • extreme acne / oily hair • low libido • EXTREME anxiety • Awful intrusive thoughts • weight gain • my arm where the implant is itches constantly I never write reviews but I don’t want anyone to feel how I have for the past 10 months."

Implanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I got mine put in in January of 08. I got pretty heavy periods for about 6 months after. I haven't used a tampon since, mini pads work just fine. I get it roughly every%uFEFF 8 weeks. Sometimes if it goes too long, I have taken a pregnancy test to make sure, all negative. I really don't like people making negative comments when they had it in less than a week. It's not instantaneous, you have to give your body time to adjust. The Implanon itself doesn't hurt, it hasn't pained me since the first few days. I have had NONE of these symptoms, any weight gain was from unhealthy eating habits. I do not bleed constantly, not stressed, crazy or depressed."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I got the nexplanon inserted on 7/19/19 and I'm scheduled to get it taken out tomorrow. Since this past Saturday I've had severe anxiety (specifically about death). I can't sleep, I wake up with terrible thoughts and all day at work I can't think straight. I hold my kids tight and all I do is cry. I just keep thinking about death, and it's all I've been thinking about."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I got Nexplanon 3 months postpartum because I had heard horror stories of IUDs, and I'm terrible at taking the pill every day. My cousin had just got hers and said she liked it so I went with it. Worst. Idea. Ever. The injection site was painful and bruised for 2 weeks. I could barely move my arm, and the implant gets caught on the underwire in my bra with certain movements. I've had constant bleeding for weeks on end, and I used to hardly have periods before. 3 days tops. The worst of it tho is the anger, rage, aggression, depression, and anxiety I feel now. I thought I was going crazy. I snap at the smallest things. I can rationalize in my head that I'm being ridiculous but physically can't fight the feelings, chest pains, and aggression over things. It's getting removed tomorrow. It's not worth it. I can't live like this anymore."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I am so sorry to all of those who have really suffered with their Nexplanon implant. However, I could not be happier with mine! I had mine put in about two months ago. The reason I chose Nexplanon was because I started to forget to take my pills. About a week after I got implanted, I had a period that was longer but lighter than normal (about 8 days). However, since then, I have not had a period in seven weeks. I did not gain weight (I actually lost weight), I did not break out, and I did not become emotional or moody. Overall, I feel exactly like myself except now with foolproof protection and no periods! Definitely a plus. I know everybody reacts differently, but my reaction was positive, and I hope yours is, too."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon I thought it would help. It was great at first then two days after I got it my vision was going crazy, I got dizzy and I had a lot of mood swings. And I looked up some of these side effects they are crazy. I think this birth control needs to be more looked into and maybe have less side effects. If it works for you great but if it doesn’t please take it out. It’s not worth having it in your arm if you feel miserable. And I know every woman is different but please be aware."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "I LOVE IT! Can't rave enough about it. No mood swings, no strong appetite, GREAT SEX DRIVE. Super quick and painless to get put in, lasts 3 years! I have had it in for 10 months now and have not had ONE period. I also LOST weight on it. Before when I was bouncing from pill to pill, my weight would fluctuate and no amounts of the gym would ever help... now I am doing my same regimen at the gym with results (not saying this is because of the pill) but my appetite is not as STRONG as it was on the pill. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "Right before and after getting the nexplanon I would lose sleep over reading the reviews on here. I am on a year long traveling trip and my doctor told me this would be the best option. After reading all the horrifying reviews I vowed that if I had a good experience I would come back and share since usually unhappy customers are more likely to write reviews. I think it really just depends on your body. For me so far it's been about two months and I've had zero side effects except for the fact that it took away my periods completely which exactly what I needed. Praise God! I am grateful."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "Got the implant a little over 2 months ago and have already made an appointment to get it removed. I, like some of the other ladies on here, did my research on sites such as planned parenthood where it says anxiety/depression is a very rare side effect, but I feel that is wrong. I have never experienced this amount of anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, etc before. I have no motivation to do the things I love anymore and feel like I have no joy in my life, which is very upsetting because I have a very loving boyfriend and a supportive family, and I just got into the college of my dreams. I feel like I have no idea who I am anymore and have never felt so worthless in my life. It’s like nothing I do means anything. I’m pushing away people I love and feel like I have no energy to mentally show up for anything. I know not everyone has the same experience, but I’m glad I found this forum because it helped me realize that this birth control is what broke me."

Implanon (etonogestrel) for Birth Control "So I got my Implanon inserted about a month ago. When I went to get it I was expecting the worst. I imagined getting every side effect imaginable, but it's been four weeks and nothing! I was due for my period, but that has yet to start. My sex drive has gone wild and now my boyfriend can't even keep up. I have no pains or bleeding or headaches. No acne and not even a scar from it. I actually enjoy poking it in my arm when I'm thinking. My moods have actually stabilized and I no longer get random menstrual cramps throughout the month. Personally, I LOVE IT. Even though I'm only a month in I already plan on getting another 3 years from now."
