For Birth Control "I was on Cryselle for a year and one month. I had noticed some random anxiety here and there (never have had anxiety), but it always went away quickly, and I didn’t think anything of it. However, my parents noted how I was more apathetic, withdrawn, and disinterested as time passed. I was put on an equivalent (generic) of this drug at my annual, and things quickly went off a cliff. Weight gain, acne, irrational anxiety and depression, no sex drive at all with my fiancé, and mental fog all the time. I would say that it all depends on individual body chemistry, but this pill was awful for me, maybe due to being higher in estrogen than my previous pill. I am now off this and doing so much better. Do not recommend."

For Birth Control "I have been using Cryselle for almost 2 years now. ACNE: The first couple of months... my acne got pretty awful. Eventually, I started to see my acne dramatically getting better. I had severe acne before starting the pill, and now I only have a couple of pimples at a time. WEIGHT: For the first 5 months, I stayed the same weight, and my breasts didn’t grow at all (so if you are looking for a pill to make your breasts bigger, I would not recommend this pill). By the 7th month, I gained 15 pounds without changing anything in my diet or exercise. Now I fluctuate up and down quite a lot in weight without changing anything. MOOD: my mood has pretty much stayed the same from what I have noticed. The only thing that has changed since taking the pill is that my irritability has increased quite a bit. This could just be non-related to the pill, but I’m not exactly sure. Do realize not everyone reacts to medication the same, so my experience may differ from yours!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Cryselle for just over two years and have been fighting depression, weight gain, terrible headaches, and anxiety attacks for the entire duration. I live a very stressful life, but I was always optimistic and could fight through it until I started taking this pill. After about 3 months, I tried to commit suicide, my depression has become debilitating, and I have anxiety attacks at the most random moments without any triggers. I've been off the pill for about a week, and my mood is already improving. This pill changed who I am completely. I lost my friends and became distant, all because of the depression. I'm not sure how to be me again or who I even am anymore. Be careful and watch out for any side effects."

For Endometriosis "I am very displeased. I started Cryselle because my previous birth control wasn't strong enough to stop bleeding caused by endometriosis. This drug made me very sad, depressed, and angry, and I had a lot of mood swings. On top of all of that, I gained 14 pounds in a month. What fun."

For Birth Control "Severe constipation started within 2 days after I started this pill (had been on Low-Ovral for years prior, but currently unavailable), acne followed, and now 5 lb weight gain in the past 3 weeks. The stomach cramps are so painful (constipation-related) that I am completely distracted throughout the day, every day now. I cannot wait to finish the cycle and move on to another pill. I've taken many different types of pills in the past 20 years...never had a single issue of any sort until this one."

For Birth Control "I first took Cryselle when I was 15, and I had the worst side effects: breakthrough bleeding, headaches, anxiety attacks, weight gain, and my periods lasted 2 weeks. I got on it again when I was 18 and had little side effects! My periods are a little heavier and hurt a bit more, and I have very sore boobs. Other than that, it's a charm. No pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Cryselle for about 2-3 weeks now. It is much better than my previous birth control brand (Tri-Estarylla). My previous birth control caused weight gain, had horrible mental side effects, and caused various other problems. Using Cryselle has eliminated all of these problems for me. I can't say I love it just yet, but it is definitely better. My main issue/concern is the spotting. I'll wake up in the morning, and it'll look like I just came on my period. This pill also moved my cycle up. I'm used to having periods starting around the middle of the month, but this first month using the pill, it came on the 1st. I'll speak to my doctor about it, but I'm pretty content so far with this birth control."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for a little bit over a year, and let me just say it has been interesting. I honestly got it to help with periods, which it is okay at, but I was definitely expecting better. My periods used to last a heavy 6 days, but it switched to a slightly lighter 4 days. So it worked in that aspect, but when it comes to regulating, it would be off by a couple of days every month. I have gained 10 pounds in the past year, even though I was active, I feel constantly fatigued and have cramps all the time randomly. I never had acne, so that was not an issue, but the overall feeling of just feeling gross and depressed has outweighed the positives for sure. I'm going off of birth control, I just cannot handle this anymore. I wish anyone luck, I am glad to hear that some have positive experiences, I just did not."

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control that I have been on that didn’t cause any harsh side effects! I was mainly placed on it because of my acne, which has cleared dramatically. I believe it caused weight gain in the beginning, but it has stopped. I was 135 before starting it, and now I’m 140. I’ve been 140 for a while now. I can’t recall any mood swings or rapid heartbeats."

For Birth Control "I just began week 3 of my pack. This has been the absolute worst experience, side effect-wise, I've ever had. I've used other BC pills, had Mirena, the depo shot, and also used the patch over the last 17 years. No problems from ANY of them except this awful medication. In 3 weeks, I have gained 15 pounds (3 of those 15 were gained the first day taking my first pill). I ate maybe 1,200 calories and did 45 minutes of cardio that day, so I know... I have psychotic mood swings, and it has interfered with my sleep so badly that I have to take SEVEN Tylenol PM to fall asleep. I am on no other meds and have no health problems. It is so bad I'm considering quitting taking it a week early. If you're reading this and considering taking this med, please, DON'T!"

For Birth Control "I went on Cryselle when I was 18. I noticed that it completely changed my personality pretty immediately. I became very emotional and would cry at the drop of a hat. It also made me gain weight, +60 lbs. However, with diet and exercise, I kept the majority of the weight off. I stuck with this medication for years. After turning 25, I’m not sure if there was a shift in my natural hormones (people's hormones change in their mid-twenties) or my body was tired of the Cryselle as (it's high in progesterone/androgens) things started to change. I suddenly developed horrible acne, hair thinning of my head/eyebrows, facial hair growth, and would have hot flashes at night during my withdrawal bleeding. In addition, a decrease in sex drive and vaginal dryness during sex. I also now have stubborn weight that won’t come off even with diet/exercise. I have switched to Syeda, I have been on it for 4 months. So far, my sex drive is back, less dryness, way less acne, and no hot flashes. Hoping my hair grows back."

For Birth Control "Definitely not the right pill for me. I have absolutely noticed an increase in appetite since going on it (feeling hungry all the time, occasionally binge eating), which has caused me to gain weight. Then, while taking the placebo at the end of the month, I noticed that I had no appetite at all. Sex also does not interest me at all anymore because of this pill, and I have noticed that I am a little more anxious in general since going on it."

For Birth Control "Terrible. Went on Cryselle for acne, but it made it 100 times worse! I had these small bumps all over my face, and my face hurt to the touch. It was so raw and dry, and it just kept breaking out. Was on this for 3 months, and once I switched to Tri-Sprintec, my acne cleared. It took 2 months because of how bad this pill messed everything up. On Cryselle, I gained like 13 pounds in a span of 3 months. Also, it made my periods horribly painful, long, and heavy, which they were never before. The only thing this pill did was regulate my periods but made them terrible. Do not go on this pill if you have acne or acne-prone skin."

For Birth Control "Cryselle is the second birth control pill I’ve tried. I switched after my previous pill gave me horrible skin issues and facial breakouts. While Cryselle did clear up my skin and get it back to normal, it caused weight gain, extreme fatigue, loss of motivation, and my hair (normally very curly) changed texture (much less curly, dull, and lifeless). It did relieve period pain and made my cycle very predictable, though. All in all, I’m much happier not using it, but the pill is all about finding the perfect one for your own body. Cryselle was not the one for me."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this birth control for about 5 years. It’s the only BC I’ve ever taken. Thankfully, the first one I tried worked pretty well for me, so I just never switched because I was too scared. Overall, Cryselle hasn’t had too many side effects on me: no weight gain, normal acne, lighter periods, and less cramping. However, my libido is very, very low, and it wasn’t always like this, so I’m 99% sure it’s from the pill, which is sad. That’s the only negative effect it has had on me that I’m aware of, but everyone is different. Some say it has made their sex life better, so."

For Gonadotropin Inhibition "I took Cryselle for prep for IVF. Side effects are rough! Horrible breast swelling and pain for the first few weeks, terrible cramps and pelvic pain for 2 weeks straight, almost constant, odd period even while on active-only pills for 5 weeks, weight gain after just one month, headaches almost daily, tired and moody. I wanted to feel good about this as it's prep for something exciting, however, it has been distressing and upsetting."

For Birth Control "This is the worst generic pill I have ever taken. My cycle was extremely heavy. I have gained five pounds in three days while on this pill, which is very depressing. I have not been very happy on the pill during the month and a half I have been on it. I am switching back to an older pill I took."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I used to take Ogestrel 28, which is a high dose. I have been on Ogestrel 28 for over 5 years. I am on the pill to help regulate my period. I got a new GYN Dr, and he wanted to change the pill to a lower dose, so I started on Cryselle. I gained 30 pounds. Diet, physical activity was the same as before, in fact, I was more physically active, but I still gained all that weight. My primary Dr thought it was me, that I was overeating or not active, that she doubted it was the pill. I went from a normal BMI to crossing the obese border after starting Cryselle. I told my Dr I wanted to change back to Ogestrel 28. Within the first few months back on Ogestrel, I started to lose the weight."
