For Birth Control "It was my first time on birth control. I thought, okay, cool. I was trying to get my hormones in check more than anything else. WRONG. Since starting, I’ve had severe anxiety, racing heart, racing thoughts, disorientation, insomnia, thoughts of suicide, and pretty harsh depressive episodes. It’s been miserable. I haven’t seen anyone else really talking about this, but it’s been so extreme. It’s been miserable, I’ve had the constant “I’m going absolutely crazy” thought. But as soon as I stopped, it’s like I was back to normal. I know everyone is different, and maybe it’s just me, but I really can’t handle this pill."

For Birth Control "First, I would like to say I took this birth control for 5 months. 5!! I was really trying to keep going. But I just stopped 3 days ago. (Now I’m bleeding, but I guess that is expected.) Anyhow, the headaches turned into migraines, I have NO sex drive, with a side of vaginal dryness! My anxiety is WILD. I have no control over my emotions. I’m irritable, having depressive episodes. I get rashes in weird places. My stomach always hurts. I even have back and neck pain? Idk what has been going on. The ONLY good thing is I haven’t gotten pregnant. But at this point, I’d much rather have a baby than deal with these pills."

For Birth Control "5 months on Tri-Lo-Marzia & hate it. I have been working out & eating well & continue to gain weight (this never used to be a problem for me even when not exercising/eating well). I have felt random heart palpitations. I get bad cramps/stomach pain. But the worst of all has been my anxiety, irritability, sadness & lack of will. I yell at my fiancé for things that are not his fault (I drop a plate & I blame it on him for no reason). I cry all the time over nothing (I NEVER used to cry about anything). One day I could barely bring myself to put away socks w/o crying or taking 5 breaks (I don't have a lot of socks). It's out of control. I just feel down all the time. Every period I feel like I get a cold (no fever), almost religiously. Chills, runny nose, sore throat for one week every month. I am getting off this medicine for good! Ultimately, I have not gotten pregnant... but I would rather be pregnant than feel how I do and to risk the relationships in my life. Not worth it at all."

For Birth Control "This was my first time taking hormonal birth control, and I can say it is my last as well. I was only on this pill for 6 days, and within those days my anxiety was triggered like never before. Not only was I nauseous every day, but I started experiencing paranoid thoughts and almost delusions. With already existing mental illnesses, this medication triggered all of them to be so much worse. On the 6th day of taking it, I felt out of touch with reality and started sobbing and continued sobbing every day on and off for about 4 days out of fear and anxiety that had suddenly taken over my whole brain. I have never experienced this level of feeling out of control mentally. Please, if you are thinking about taking this specific brand of birth control, don't if you have existing mental illnesses. Overall, horrible experience, I am traumatized."

For Birth Control "Tri-Lo-Marzia totally got rid of my sex drive. Before I got on this pill, I had a very high sex drive. Within a month of being on Tri-Lo-Marzia, I physically could not get aroused even when I wanted to. It made my vagina dry. I could literally tell the blood flow to my genitals had decreased. It's effective at preventing pregnancy because you will no longer want to have sex. It also gave me extreme mood swings and anxiety every month during the week 3 pills. On a positive note, I could not tell any changes with my acne or weight. I did not experience any spotting between periods, but it did make my cramps worse and flow slightly heavier. 27 years old, 160 lbs. Light periods lasting 4-5 days."

For Birth Control "I went on this drug as a birth control method and to make my period regular. Now, I’ve realized it’s taken a toll on my mind and body. When I started it, for the first six months, I would get angry and upset for no reason. Eventually, it calmed down, but has come back with a vengeance. Then, I lost all sex drive. This week, as a result of a negative experience in bed (probably due to my lack of arousal), I’ve had horrible anxiety that should only have lasted for a day, but has gone on for seven. I’ve been unable to sleep more than 4 hours at a time, unable to eat or keep food down, and unable to feel comfortable. I can’t think rationally, and it’s beginning to take a toll on my relationships with my boyfriend and family, and my motivation in classes. I’ve had anxiety before, but never like this. I’ve been crying every day and feeling like I’m going insane. I don’t feel like myself anymore. Going off of this pill immediately and hoping it gets out of my system fast."

For Birth Control "I was taking Tri-Nessa Lo, and when I went back to the OBGYN for a checkup and refill, I was re-prescribed this 'generic' version (unknowingly). I started taking Tri-Lo-Marzia about 2 weeks ago. And... I. HATE. IT. I don't even ever write reviews about anything, but this felt justified. Drove my anxiety up a wall. Crying for no reason. Depressed. Irritable and mad about stupid things. Doubting everything in my life. I cannot wait to switch over to my old birth control. This one just did not work for me at all."

For Birth Control "I have tried different brands for birth control and seriously suffered from so much anxiety and depression because they just didn’t react well with my body. I was on the verge of suicide with a pill and eventually went to my doctor to switch again before I let it get too far. I asked for the lowest dose possible with a different pill and was prescribed Tri-Lo Marzia. I haven’t had ANY issues whatsoever. Everyone is different, and I know that other women haven’t reacted well with this pill, but it works for me. I’ve never been happier. I recommended trying pills until you find the one. I was extremely discouraged for a while because of how severe my depression had gotten, but I finally found the pill that works."

For Acne "I originally started taking this birth control pill to help with my hormonal acne. Three weeks in, and I feel insane. I am incredibly depressed, having feelings of worthlessness and in such a dark place in my mind. I feel like I don’t know who I am, and I can’t control my thoughts. I cannot go a day without crying. I feel insane. Please, if you are feeling this way, know that you are not alone. I have stopped taking it, and I am hoping to get it out of my system soon. Can't the pharmaceutical industry make a pill that doesn't make so many women feel like rubbish and make them feel so depressed and anxious."

For Acne "In July 2018, I got a really bad breakout that lasted forever. My first birth control (BC) because I was so embarrassed. I never saw reviews over this BC, so I tried it anyway. Being on this BC, my acne got a little better but never fully cleared my skin. It was still embarrassing to go out without covering it with makeup. I still broke out everywhere and had cystic acne on my jawline. I got big knots on my face and it would take days to weeks to get rid of. I was very moody and would change so fast. I was overly sensitive about everything. Cried more than usual and got mad pretty easily. Usually, a pretty chill person didn't let my emotions take over a situation, but on this medication, I did. I was always depressed and had horrible anxiety. I wanted to sleep every day. I've been on this for 1 year and 2 months, and I stayed on it because I thought it would eventually work. I finally decided to stop and I've been off for a week, and my skin has already cleared up tremendously. Do not recommend for clearing acne."

For Birth Control "The worst! New gyno suggested after I specifically requested Ortho Tri-Cyclen L. On this, I gained 29 lbs in 3 months. I work out 5 days a week and can’t lose 5 lbs. I’ve been depressed, moody, bloated, severe headaches, having anxiety, and either eating everything in sight or not eating at all. And absolutely no sex drive. I do not recommend this product to anyone. It also caused my lymph nodes to swell up. Please be extra careful when trying these pills. I just threw out my pills in the trash..."

For Birth Control "Don't get this pill. I am legitimately depressed from it now after taking it for 7+ months. I feel so dissociated from myself because of it and psychologically don't feel well. If you've ever had bad anxiety or depression to begin with, this pill is not for you."

For Endometriosis "Was on this Tri-Lo-Marzia BC for 4 months for chronic pelvic pain/endo. Helped a little with pain, but I had awful, awful mental side effects. I actually started to hate my boyfriend, became extremely paranoid and anxious, and woke up in such a bad mental fog every morning. I was spacey and couldn’t focus. Had feelings of such hate, anger, and fatigue throughout the day. Went on .35 progestin and wow. Such a difference. Wake up feeling calm, relaxed, and loving again. Still a little tired here and there, but no anxiety. I have felt so relaxed on this BC."

For Acne "I was on another birth control pill, but my skin was breaking out real crazy. My ob-gyn prescribed this pill to me to address my acne. I used to have clear skin, but I seem to break out on my jawline, but the left side of my face only, which I find odd. Now it’s crawling down to my neck. It is unsightly, but I’ve just been on it for the 2nd week, so I still have yet to see how it takes effect on my face. I’ll give it 3 packs. My acne weren’t cystic like before, but still, they multiply. As to the mood swings, I have to say I have been feeling low with this pill, like bordering on depression and severe anxiety. I hope this will eventually go away. I hate my acne right now."

For Birth Control "DO NOT TAKE THIS. This is my first time taking birth control, and I have been taking this for two months. Tried to keep in mind that it takes time for my body to adjust, but I can’t take this anymore. I have been suffering from anxiety, depression, and panic attacks like never before, as well as nausea. I do not feel like myself at all. It is crazy, I feel crazy. Apparently, I am not alone in this either. I would recommend finding another form of birth control, as I am most definitely going to."

For Birth Control "I got switched to this by my pharmacy when Trinessa Lo was discontinued. I’m finishing my third pack and have had a terrible experience with this pill! I’m 27 and have had breakouts in places on my face that have never broken out before. I feel more depressed and anxious than ever. My head feels foggy and I just don’t feel like myself. Not to mention my period is still irregular-sometimes not coming until 4 days into the placebo week, or this time coming 4 days before the Sunday of the placebo week. Not good when part of the reason for taking it is to regulate. I tried to give this brand a chance but am switching ASAP, maybe even to IUD since I can’t find a brand. Anything but Tri-Lo-Marzia."

For Acne "I have been on this pill for about a year with hopes to clear my hormonal acne. It did not work at all and made me break out even more. It heightened my depression and anxiety even more than it already is. Possibly the worst birth control I’ve taken. I can’t be myself on it and thankfully am changing in the next couple of weeks. The only positive was that my sex drive stayed the same and there was no weight gain. But the depression, anxiety, and acne were too much to handle."

For Birth Control "My pharmacy switched me from Tri-Lo Sprintec to this because it was free on my insurance. I am on month 3. For me, the positives are that I've lost the weight I gained on Tri-Lo Sprintec, and I am no longer bloated all the time. However, my mood, which was even and calm before, changed immediately on this pill. My mood changes in an instant, and I've had several breakdowns and severe anxiety, which almost never happens to me. I am also starting to experience hair thinning and inflamed pimples all over my chin and cheek area, which was never an issue before, not since I took Accutane. I am switching after this pack to brand-name Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo with the hopes that my skin clears back up and my mood stabilizes."

For Birth Control "I’m the type of person who reads reviews when trying a new medication, so when I was prescribed this and saw all the reviews, I was immediately anxious. I tried to remember everyone’s body is different, so I began taking it. The first few days were okay. On the sixth and seventh day, I started getting heart palpitations, which I could feel in my wrists and chest, as well as extreme anxiety and moodiness. On the eighth day, I had to call my doctor because the palpitations and anxiety were so intrusive that I couldn’t focus on work. I stopped, and two days later, I’m feeling back to my normal self again. Don’t take this!"

For Acne "Worst experience of my life. I had really bad acne last year and went on this pill for about three months. My skin cleared tremendously within the first two months, but that literally didn't matter anymore due to the severe depression and anxiety this pill gave me. I was a completely different person. I was always exhausted, so easily irritated, and very depressed, and I also gained a lot of weight. I would cry over the slightest things too. Once I went off of it, I immediately felt like myself again, and I dropped the weight in the course of two months."

For Acne "My gyno suggested this birth control to help with adenomyosis pain. Although I haven't suffered from more serious acne in years, I appreciated the possible added benefit of clearing up my light, monthly hormonal pimples. Fast forward less than three months on this medication, and I have little red pimples all over my face, especially my cheeks, and even places I've never had zits, including my neck. Add in a decreased sex drive, increased anxiety and depression, and any “benefit” of less adenomyosis pain is out the window. I've stopped this med, requested a change of pill, and will just pop Ibuprofen until I find the right treatment. Tri-Lo-Marzia is not it for me!"

For Birth Control "I wish I could rate this drug a 0. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to take it. I took this pill for about 3 months, and 3 months later I am still feeling what I believe to be aftereffects of coming off the pill. When I started the pill, I experienced daily headaches, then a really bad one that made me feel like I couldn’t fall asleep or something bad would happen... I guess some kind of paranoia. I developed severe anxiety, and I’ve never been an anxious person really, so this was one of the hardest things. I experienced brain fog, nausea, and just overall feeling uncomfortable every day. I also experienced serious chest pains that led me to believe I had a blood clot or was maybe having a heart attack. Since stopping the pills, I haven’t felt back to my normal self yet, but I’m hoping that I feel like myself again soon. I’ve just been experiencing some headaches, anxiety, and a very strange feeling in my head that I assume is brain fog as well."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "The first birth control I ever tried was Loestrin FE. It made me extremely nauseous and gave me terrible headaches. I’m now on Tri-Lo-Marzia due to my period coming every 2 weeks. So far, so good. I’m on my second week, and my period has not started. I take it every AM with food, and I feel perfectly fine. The only difference I’ve noticed is that my anxiety has increased."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Tri-Lo-Marzia for a few years now. It cleared up my acne, and I never really gained that much weight on this pill. Normally, I would get bloated one week before my period and felt very irritable, emotional, and anxious. I’ve been dealing with a lot of lower back pain for quite some time, and doctors can’t figure it out. My X-ray and MRI came out perfectly fine. I realized, what if it’s this pill? I’ve been on different birth controls for many years, but I think it’s time to find another contraceptive. There’s been new research that being on birth control for many years can lead to chronic lower back pain. I decided to stop taking birth control three days ago. The lower back pain has subsided in the past few days. It’s insane, the side effects of birth control."
