For Birth Control "Been on the pill (specifically this pill) since I was 15 and now I am 28. I am more than happy with the pill. I have never had issues with weight gain (unless I am hogging into a box of cookies), no acne, mood swings, and no pregnancy scares. Extremely predictable periods that are super minor: 1 heavy day and light-regular for the other 3 days-4 day period and done. Best thing I have ever done. Period. I recommend it for sure, but obviously it won't be the same for everyone."

For Birth Control "I have been using this pill for almost three months now. It has worked great for preventing pregnancy and has made my periods lighter with less cramping. At first, I was experiencing some abdominal cramping, but that went away after a while. The only side effect that has caused me problems is it made me very emotional. I get depressed easily, but not on a daily basis. Usually, every one to two weeks, I go through a phase where I cry a lot and think about things from my past that upset me. Judging from what I have read, the emotional side effects go away after a while, so I want to keep taking it, and I would recommend it for anyone."

For Birth Control "I’ve tried many birth controls, and Ortho Tri-Cyclen is incredible. I don’t get acne, my appetite hasn’t changed. I was a little moody when I first started, but it went away, and now I feel great! I feel like it’s helped my mood. I do have nausea every once in a while. Sometimes it’s bad, and sometimes it’s mild. I also have vaginal dryness, but these things don’t bother me compared to the other side effects I’ve had with other birth controls."

For Birth Control "It took me a long time to realize some major changes in my life directly correlated with the time I began to take Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I thought these were just general changes in my life until I realized they all started around the same time. I gained about 8-10 pounds, which is almost 10% of my body weight, so it made a noticeable difference. The biggest negative point, however, was the depression and irritability. I would cry for at least 2 days every month for no reason and considered dropping out of school and moving back home because I was so unhappy. Since I stopped taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen a month ago, my whole life has gone back to normal, dropped 5 pounds, and generally happy and comfortable. I never got pregnant, though."

For Birth Control "I have taken this pill for years. It helped predict when my cycle would come and for how long. It was very short and light. Hardly ever had any cramps as well. It also did wonders for acne! I never realized until I switched birth control pills."

For Acne "DO NOT TAKE THIS. I BROKE OUT 3 months straight and threw up on my period. I was in terrible pain! I never had bad cramps in my life until taking this! LOST ALL MY CONFIDENCE BECAUSE OF THE ACNE IT GAVE ME. I'M CURRENTLY SHAKING AND CRYING IN PAIN ON THE DAY OF MY BIRTHDAY BECAUSE I'M ON MY PERIOD. I'M DONE TAKING THIS. I GAVE IT THREE MONTHS LIKE THE DOCTOR SAID AND IT'S RUBBISH! I don't know what to do now. Thinking about getting help for depression and anxiety. Birth control is absolute rubbish!"

For Acne "This cleared up my acne entirely! It took about 5 to 6 months before seeing results, definitely worth the wait. It's been 10 months, and my face is CLEAR. I get a few pimples here and there, but other than that, no complaints."

For Acne "I started back in October after suffering about 6 months with acne that just kept on getting worse. I had pus-filled pimples and small cysts. I didn't see major results until about 2 months in, and even then I was still getting one or two cysts. On my third month, I wasn't getting cysts and would only get small pimples. I suggest if you start the pill and don't see results immediately to just stick with it for at least 3 months. After my pimples went away, I got red hyperpigmentation (which a lot of people have been blaming on the pill; it's not, it's from the old pimples), so now I put a little bit of lemon on those parts to lighten them, and it's been working. As for my period, it lasts for 4 days now instead of 7, but I still bleed a lot."

For Birth Control "I took it for a while, mainly for acne, and I wanted the IUD, but my OB suggested I try this as a birth control method as well as help with my acne after I had my first child. I must admit it did wonders on my periods and acne. I had lighter and shorter periods, but my sex drive went down. I also missed a week's worth of the pill due to not picking it up from the pharmacy, so I waited till my next period to restart it, and now I'm nauseated and cramping super bad. This is the second day back on it, and my period ended just last week. I started my period again right after taking the pill the Sunday after my period ended, and now I feel like poo. I know it will pass. As I take it, as I said above, I had a great first experience besides having no sex drive."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "While I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, I was hospitalized. I came very close to needing a blood transfusion. Halfway through a pack, I started to bleed heavily. I went to the ER and had ultrasounds done to be sure I wasn't having a miscarriage or cyst rupture. It was explained to me that the added hormones were not balancing well, which was causing one to crash and cause heavy bleeding. I was immediately taken off of birth control. I won't ever try it again. It was a very scary experience."

For Acne "I've had terrible acne for as long as I can remember, always around my chin and cheek area. I felt so horrible about myself and finally went to the doctor and was put on Ortho Tri-Cyclen. It definitely did not work right away, but I did enjoy the light periods. I'd say after three or four months, my acne started clearing beautifully, and I've been on the pill ever since. No weight gain or mood swings. I felt like my normal self. Although, maybe two months ago, I forgot to get a refill and it took a while to get it, so I obviously wasn't taking it for a week or two, and my acne went crazy again! I also started to experience mood swings and was very tired. (For anybody thinking about stopping)"

For Acne "This is my very first time taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and I love it! I asked my doctor for a good birth control pill that worked with acne, cramps, and periods, so she suggested this! At first, I thought about switching because my acne got terrible (worse than ever), and I didn't have a period for 2 months. I gave my body some time on it, and it turns out this pill is amazing! I no longer deal with bad acne or acne at all! During my time of the month, I will get a couple of pimples, but nothing too dramatic! I'm also using Clinique acne solutions face wash, toner, moisturizer, and mask. IF YOU ARE WANTING TO SWITCH, PLEASE DON'T. Let your body get used to the pill before you act on it. I am on month 2, and periods last 2-3 days, and I hardly ever get acne!"

For Acne "I went on my first pack this month and am taking my third week right now and just experienced some major breakthrough bleeding (which I guess is normal, so we'll see how it keeps going), but as far as my acne, I used to have insane cysts on my cheeks and chin. Within one week, I had no cysts but just minor small pimples, which I'm totally fine with. So I'm on my third week, and I don't get the painful cysts anymore. I just had one or two small ones on my chin, but that's it! I would recommend it for acne, but the breakthrough bleeding scared me."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for about 6 months now, and have gained 20 pounds. I haven't made any change to my diet or exercise routine. But the pill's been working well otherwise. I never really got acne, so that stayed about the same. I'm about the same emotionally, except for maybe worse PMS symptoms. My sex drive is outrageous, maybe even a little more than when I started on the pill. I'm just worried about the amount of weight gained in such a short time. I am also really bad at remembering to take the pill every day."

For Acne "I am on my fourth month on the pill. I’m mainly taking it for acne. I’ve used Xulane before with no improvement on my chin acne. I must say, I’ve always tried to stay away from dairy or sugar, but I would always still break out on my chin, and it didn’t matter what day of the month. I always had acne on my chin. Starting off with the pill, I had about 8 painful zits on my chin. I noticed it beginning to clear after the second week. By the time I hit the sugar pills, I began breaking out again on my chin and oddly in between my brows. I continued on to the second month, always breaking out during period week. By the third month though, my chin has been clear. I did get 1-2 tiny pimples during the week of my period, but they weren’t painful like how they used to be. I’ve never seen my chin clear in almost 8 years. No weight gain, but I was a bit moody the first month. Can’t tell if that was due to my recent breakup or hormones."

For Acne "Ortho Tri-Cyclen saved my face! I've dealt with cystic acne flare-ups for years. I experienced HUGE cysts that would distort my face. I've tried EVERYTHING to rid myself of them (even did a round of Accutane 10 years ago), but they persistently return. Seven months ago, I switched from Alesse, and it's made an incredible difference. The first four months were really rough (I broke out A LOT but noticed the cysts were actually coming to a head and draining for the first time ever). I almost gave up out of frustration, but I'm glad I stuck it out. My face has been totally manageable, just the small NORMAL occasional pimple around my period. No weight gain, no mood swings, no adverse effects. Also, loving the shorter, lighter, less painful periods."

For Birth Control "I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen as soon as I turned 18 and used it until my husband and I wanted to conceive a few years later. I went back on it after my daughter was born. It made my periods regular, they were basically clockwork, which was awesome. I had no acne, mood swings, or breakthrough bleeding."

For Birth Control "I'm a happy person and never had depression or anxiety in all my life until I got on this BC. I started getting sad, then the sadness started to feel like depression... almost debilitating... then anxiety started to kick in. I thought maybe I should give it a little more time because my body was adjusting, but the last straw was 7 months into taking it, I started getting suicidal and psychotic thoughts at a family party!! I was freaking out and it felt like I had voices in my head! I have a friend who loves this BC, but unfortunately it did not work for me :(. BC is really a trial and error and different for everyone. This is the only BC that has made me craziness! I had a better experience with Nuva Ring and Lomedia 24Fe."

For Birth Control "I didn’t have many physical side effects (maybe gained a little weight) with Ortho Tri-Cyclen, but I became extremely depressed and went through a depressive episode worse than any I had before. When I stopped the pill, I went back to normal. For those with a history of depression (like myself), I would advise you to be cautious with Ortho Tri-Cyclen."

For Birth Control "My gyno started me on this as I've had issues with other pills. This pill has made me so unbelievably angry and depressed. The acne that comes with it is worse than it was when I was a teenager. Periods were so light that I didn't know if I should actually consider them a period. DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill on and off for a while now. I say about a year. And until I read everyone else's review, I've noticed why I was moody for a while. Depression was bad, I always thought my boyfriend didn't want me. My sex drive went up. I think my overall attitude was kind of trashy. Even if things were going okay, the brighter side wouldn't make my day. I like it because I'm never questioning if I'm pregnant, but it's best not to miss any pills where you have to take more than one at once because I became really sick... Hours of constant upchucking. I didn't notice any weight issues."

For Acne "I have been taking the name brand Ortho Tri-Cyclen since June 2000. Before that, I always had irregular, painful periods and acne vulgaris. The pill has done wonders for me. It is medically necessary for me, and even though I am 44, I still want to stay on it. I have not experienced any bad side effects, and my paps have been good for 19 years. I do not understand why this product is discontinued."

For Acne "I started taking this pill a little over 3 weeks ago for my acne because since October I’ve been breaking out with cystic acne on my chin and around my jawline. I started taking this, and the first two weeks my acne got worse, and I was nauseous, my breasts were tender, and I felt pregnant, and I almost gave up. It was very discouraging, but I decided to stick it out, and my face has cleared up 95%. I’ve had no breakouts, and I was getting at least 2 bumps a week. I’m not sick anymore, and now I’m just trying to get rid of the acne spots. I’ve been on this pill before, and it has ALWAYS worked, you just have to give it time and make sure to use a face cleanser and make sure to exfoliate a couple of times a week. Out of 10, I give it a 10."

For Birth Control "Have been taking this for not even a month, and I have been super emotional. It's crazy because I'm usually laid back. I want sex more now, but I guess you can say I experience a little cramping, sharp pains every now and then. Overall, it's okay."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed this as my first ever birth control because I had horrible 14-day-long periods. It got to the point where I'd end up dizzy and hyperventilating. So my doc gave me this, so far, everything has been normal except my boobs don't feel the same. I've only been on the pill for about three weeks, but my bras are all too tight now and the girls feel super heavy. Coming from a 16-year-old who's had a B cup for a while, this was a surprise. I haven't had any mood swings out of the regular, and my acne is nonexistent."
