"Got this pill at Planned Parenthood after I had my IUD removed. While on this pill, I had no sex drive. I didn’t care about anything anymore. I didn’t want to hug or kiss my daughter or husband. I was always irritated. I also had the worst abdominal pain, and it messed with my bowels. I gained about 5 lbs in 2 weeks. I was super bloated. My breasts were super tender. I don’t usually have acne, and this caused me to break out really badly. All this in only 2 weeks. I stopped the pill, and 2 days later, I felt more like myself. Definitely don’t recommend."

"Please stay away from this birth control if you want to save your skin. I was on it for 6 months, and my acne has never been worse. I have never suffered from acne in my life, I was strictly on this to prevent pregnancy, and my face is extremely horrible. I ended up spending tons on skin care and ditching this pill. I am 8 days off of it, and I’ll just be waiting for my skin to hopefully recuperate. Stay away."

"So far, I’m a week in on this birth control. My last birth control I had been on made me nauseous, and I would throw up every night around 2 am. So far on this, because I have had super light nausea, here and there headaches, my mental health is ehh, so-so. I get angry and sad very fast, which I don't like. :( I don’t really have much of a sex drive, and I usually do have a high sex drive, like a lot, lol. I'm eating quite often and have gained some weight-not a lot, though. I don’t mind, though, because I’ve been wanting to gain some weight. I'm still sticking to it because I am only just a week in so far."

"I've been on this for about 10 days, and I've noticed I've been super emotional. I can't really take down certain food without puking 15 minutes later. Not sure these pills are for me. Thinking of finishing this first pack and switching."

"This was my first experience on birth control, and it hasn’t been too bad. I’ve had light periods, and before, they were unbearable. I have had a few bladder infections, but I’m working with my doctor to figure out why. I’ve lost a few pounds, but I’m extremely bloated, and I’m always so hot."

"Within the span of taking this birth control, I experienced 2 yeast infections going on my third pack. I 100% recommend reading reviews on the birth control you’re going to be taking. I wish I had. The weird thing about it was when I would get to the end of each pack, that’s when they would come. I didn’t take the third pack, and mysteriously I had no problems the next month. So like I stated previously, read reviews, they’ll save you!"

"Started my 13-year-old on this for acne only. She completed one pack, and her acne is worse than ever! Also, she bled really heavily for 2 weeks. I'm actually glad she doesn't have to go to school right now."

"So this is not my first time being on this birth control. I took it about a year ago right after I got my IUD removed. It was great, although I had a few symptoms, such as depression from time to time. I decided to take a break from birth control after being on this medication for 5-6 months. So fast forward to today, I did not have a great experience getting back on this birth control. I started 3 weeks ago and have been bleeding for 11 days straight, and the flow is heavy. I don't know what's going on, or what has changed, but this is horrible! I had this same experience when I had a Depo shot (which I thought was the worst birth control ever), but I can say that Tarina Fe 1/20 just about compares! I threw this pack in the garbage, along with my other unopened pack!"

"I was on this pill for 4 months to help with acne and to regulate my period because it was so heavy, and I would get bad cramps. While it did help with the intensity of my period, it did not help with the timing. I would get it during the 2nd or 3rd week of the pill, not during the placebo week. My acne is absolutely insane right now, I just switched pills due to it. It has never been this bad. It is cystic and painful around my jawline and chin area. The amount of topical products that I have bought to try and curb this is overwhelming. My sex drive decreased significantly. Overall, a pill that was not meant for me."

"I have irregular periods and can go months without them. I'd been suffering from a lengthy period since starting the pills. At first, they stopped it for the first few days of the first week. But then the bleeding only came right back and 10 times worse, and I'm halfway through the month, and I can't take this. I want to just stop taking this. But I don't know what to do. This made me way too emotional. My stomach feels like it's being stabbed. I don't truly ever get cramps, but I want to cry - 3 weeks added onto this means my period is over a month. I honestly just want to cry. I'm in so much pain."

"I am on the first week of my 4th pack. I've been continuous cycling, so I was spotty the first 2 packs during my 'period,' but afterwards my body adjusted. I was nervous, acne-wise, because this is a lower dose of hormone than I'm used to, but so far no crazy breakouts. I actually have much less of an appetite now, which is great - I lost the 12 pounds that I put on from taking a higher dosage pill, so I'm back to my old self again. I would give this pill a higher rating if it weren't for the fact that I have way less sex drive now, and for a day or 2 right before I'd get my 'period,' I am very dry and have a slight stinging feeling that is slightly painful."

"Awful, about to finish my second month. I switched off my old birth control because I switched doctors and then got prescribed this one. My face was pretty clear before, a pimple here and there, and then as soon as I started this birth control my face broke out extremely bad and has not stopped. This genuinely has taken a toll on my self-confidence. And I am someone who takes extremely good care of my skin, so this is truly a heartbreaking experience for me. If I did not pay out of pocket for this, I would have switched way sooner, but after this next month, I am definitely switching. This may not be the same case for everyone, but my experience with this pill was not good."

"I was on it for 3 months until I began to notice a significant change in my mood, mental health, and well-being. I noticed I was super sensitive, very emotional, loss of appetite, and I felt very cloudy-minded. Though I was emotional, there were other times where I just felt flat. These symptoms really began to bother me, and once I read reviews and realized others were feeling this way, I decided to stop taking Tarina. I am now going to switch back to the patch! I understand everyone's body is different, but just be aware that this pill can make you feel this way. I have never experienced any symptoms like this until I was 3 months into taking the pill. I thought it was just me having the winter blues, but it was much more than that. Be aware of your body!"

"I didn't break out that much, occasional zit, but my skin was mainly clear. Other than that, my mood swings did get a little out of hand. Rarely bled, maybe once every two months, but only for one day. My sex drive was decent, but dryness was an issue."

"So I'm coming up on like 8 months. It's the same medicine I had before, just the color of the pill changed. One thing I don't like about this is that I have bad periods that last way longer than usual and cramps. They are bad, but on the plus side... no weight gain, no acne. This probably is the best birth control I have ever had..."

"An update from March's review. I stopped taking Tarina on April 3rd. Since then, I have dropped 10 pounds, my mood and outlook on life have improved. My body shape! I didn't even realize how different my body shape was while taking the pill. My body shape has returned to how it used to be. My body shape on the pill was extremely 'hormonal,' a lot of stomach bumps and flabs I chalked up to weight gain. But I could not understand why I went from an hourglass not taking the pill and then on the pill an apple, now I'm back to an hourglass...just more 'sand' from when I was last an hourglass shape. However, we are working on that. I am dropping weight more consistently now. I am glad I made the decision to stop taking this pill. I am now using Paragard, and so far I am happy. I do NOT believe that taking the pill has no effect on weight gain and body type change. I will never go back to using hormonal birth control. I just believe they are trying to push an agenda."

"I started taking Tarina Fe 1/20 when I was 17 years old, and I was on it for a year. The first month I was on it, I was extremely moody, angry, and was overall crying every day. I didn’t get put on this pill for my acne, but I can say when I got my period, my acne was terrible, unlike before I started taking the pill. I only got a period every 3-4 months, and when I did, it was super light, but still very painful. I would have terrible cramps the first 3 days before I got my period, and when I actually started my period, I had barely any cramps. When my period did come, it would last about 8-10 days. I would have it for 6 days, then nothing for 2 days, then I would start. After a couple of months of taking it, I wasn’t moody at all anymore. However, I did experience severe headaches and migraines almost every day, even though I am extremely hydrated."

"I've been on this pill since late May and now it is mid-January. It has been great until last month when I started experiencing mild depression. I am switching birth control, but for someone who is just starting to use birth control, I will highly recommend it. This is my first birth control, and I loved it. Don't be scared to try it since you can easily switch to a different one if this doesn't work out. I did gain a little weight, but my skin is clear, and I have very light periods."

"I would give this a zero if possible. This is the first birth control pill I have ever taken, and I started it a year and a half ago. After about 10 months of use, I started to get stabbing pains in my abdomen and back that would last for hours and usually were accompanied by me throwing up. Fast forward to today, and I believe it is the cause of my gallstones! The listed side effects of birth control are gallstones, so be very careful and just get an IUD, which is hormone-free! Seriously, it's not worth developing gallstones and then having surgery to get your gallbladder removed!"

"I am 26 years old and this is my first time ever taking birth control. I started taking this particular one 3 weeks ago to help me have a lighter period, but I am now on the 7th day of my period (it usually lasts 5 days). I think I’m done taking BC period! I tried and honestly can’t stand to have such a long period and cramps throughout my entire cycle."

"This BC is the worst. My nausea is off the charts; I feel like I’m constantly going to throw up, although the feeling is strongest when I first wake up or eat something. I literally have no sex drive; just the thought exhausts me, which has never been an issue in the past. It also makes me more tired than usual. I’ve also started developing extremely painful cramps and bloating. Can’t wait to switch."

"Tarina protected me from pregnancy, but not without a cost. I was on this for a total of two months, two pill packs. The first pill pack had fewer side effects, but the second was awful. I didn't notice any mood changes or anything, but several things happened with my body: Every day on this pill (1st & 2nd pack) I woke up with a hangover-type headache. Excedrin helped, but at this point I was taking it every day. After my first pack, my period lasted 1 maybe 2 days (I am usually a light bleeder 3-4 days). Once I started my second pack, I got a full-on period in the middle of my pack. Not to mention, I had awful stomach pains all the time. I had never had these issues with birth control prior. As soon as I got off it, I felt relief in days."

"So unlike everyone else’s comments here, I love Tarina. The last birth control made me so actually sick 24/7, I couldn’t get out of bed. With Tarina, I’ve had a small amount of breakouts (masks add onto that) and a bit of weight gain (quarantine too). My breasts have been a tad sore every couple of weeks, but it isn’t terrible. My periods are shorter, my cramps aren’t as bad until I'm on my period, but they still aren’t nearly as bad, I can take 1 pill of Pamprin and be fine. I have noticed I’m a bit moodier before my periods but, again, Pamprin or any PMS pill can help with that. Everyone’s body is different! Just try it, after a couple of months, if it’s not working for you, go see your doctor or whomever. Also, starting Tarina, I wasn’t nauseated, but I was a bit moody and had mild cramps off and on for a few weeks with a few zits here and there, but that’s just from a huge rush of estrogen our bodies will be accepting!"

"I've been taking Tarina Fe 1/20 for a month now, not taking the placebo week, and it has been awful. I've felt super angry over the smallest things, I can't stop eating, I get horrible hot flashes, I've been extremely dehydrated, I've had a constant migraine since starting, I've been getting horrible cramps, my acne has been pretty bad as well, and I'm on the heaviest period I've had in two and a half years."

"I have been on this pill, Tarina Fe 1/20, for 3 years on, one year off, and another year on. I was so relieved that it didn’t cause weight gain or hair loss for me that I was willing to put up with other terrible side effects. For me personally, anxiety and fear feelings are through the roof after about 6 months of use. It’s like feeling constant, nonstop terror. It goes away as soon as I stop taking the pill. Going to the doctor to explore other options. I can’t live like this forever. To say what’s good about it: no pregnancy, no weight gain or sex drive changes, light to no periods."
