For Endometriosis "I have been on Levora for approximately 5 years. After I started having severe abdominal pains, I decided to stop taking birth control altogether. I thought that maybe my body was just upset that I had been pumping synthetic hormones into it, so I stopped taking it for 6-8 months... it didn't help. While I was on it for the 5 years, it was great. I didn't have any problems with it... my weight was fine, acne no worse or better, no mood swings, and no drop in libido. I ended up back on it due to endometriosis, only this time I had all the problems I didn't have initially. I had spotting that lasted at least 2 weeks, got severe headaches, gained 10 lbs, my breasts were very tender, and the WORST PART... NO SEX DRIVE AT ALL!"

For Birth Control "I've been impressed with this pill. It's been the best out of all the pills I've taken (Ortho Lo/Yaz). I've been on it for over a year now. I feel pretty relaxed mood-wise, light periods, haven't gotten pregnant despite occasionally taking it a few hours late. Also, I don't have any problems with migraines/canker sores/moodiness/weight gain/sex drive/urinary tract infections that I've had with other pills. Possibly a moderate improvement in facial acne, but I feel that back and chest acne sometimes gets out of control. Seems like acne gets worse though when I get less than 8 hours of sleep, am on the inactive pill week, or drink even a glass of wine. So, it might be better to take extra vitamins when on this pill due to decreased appetite."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 8 months, one year after nursing. I had one normal period the last 4 months, I have not had a cycle but have all the symptoms when I get to the inactive pills. No bleeding, but all the symptoms is scary because I should have had one by now. My PCP says it takes a while to regulate, but I was regulated before I took them and all other pills. I don't know why I was switched. I'd rather go back to Ortho Tri-Cyclen. Levora has caused me to have acne again and mood swings like no other. My sex drive is almost nonexistent, so my hubby isn't happy. I have an appointment to switch to something else. I'd rather have baby #5 than keep doing this."

For Birth Control "I started taking this about 8 months ago, and up until 4 months ago, I was fine with it. I have been suffering major depression, suicidal thoughts, anger issues (I never had anger issues before this pill), and I'm always bleeding. I get spotting at least every week for three days. My sex drive has decreased. I am constantly having yeast infections, and when I get turned on, I can barely get wet like I used to normally before I took this pill, no matter how horny I am. Even though high blood pressure runs in my family, as an 18-year-old, my blood pressure is way too high, especially for taking birth control and my blood pressure meds. Whatever you do, DON'T TAKE THIS BIRTH CONTROL. Calling my doctor tomorrow to get off this drug after reading into it."

For Birth Control "I have been on Levora for 2 years, it definitely works in regards to being pregnant. My appetite has not increased too badly. I have only gained about 5 pounds. Levora seems to keep my acne in check. My periods are a lot lighter. The only problem I have is my sex drive is pretty much non-existent. It's become such a problem that I will be switching birth controls."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for almost two years. It does work as far as not getting pregnant, however, my experience at first was it didn't make a huge difference. Then, 6 or 7 months into it, my sex drive went down, along with being very, very dry. My moodiness increased drastically. I would cry one second and then get angry with my husband over anything and everything. My skin has gotten a lot worse, I broke out in places I never had in the last week. So now I am on Yaz."

For Birth Control "I was taking Levora for a year and a half and am now switching medication. Since I started taking it, I am always tired, even when I sleep great. I have had 4 yeast infections... ew. Lower sex drive, don't self-lubricate, and I've gained about 50 pounds (although part of that could be bad diet; haven't changed my diet though). Everyone's different, and side effects aren't horrible, but I would not recommend."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Levora for a year and a half. For the first year, maybe a little less, it was great. My periods weren't shorter but definitely lighter. My face cleared up, but not entirely. The week before the placebo pills, my face always seems to get worse, but not anything to worry about. However, like most other people, my libido decreased to the point that I have absolutely no desire. For that reason, I talked to my doctor and will soon be switching to Tri Sprintec, which I have heard some terrible reviews about, so I am skeptical about that as well. I would recommend Levora if it is for lighter periods or for acne issues."

For Birth Control "I gave Levora a 5 out of 10 only because for the five years I've been taking it, it has served its purpose. I have not become pregnant, I've had lighter, shorter periods, no acne (but this was never a problem for me), and only minimal weight gain. Other than that, I have to agree with most of the other reviews on this page that my sex drive has decreased significantly and I have become overly emotional. I started taking the pill right out of college, soon after I met my husband (before we were married). Before the pill, I had no issues with sex, dryness, desire, etc., but we've been struggling with it for the 5 years we've been together. After I finish this month's pills, I will be trying a new pill."

"The pill has served its purpose. I have not gotten pregnant while on it. However, I have experienced weight gain, very low libido, and more vaginal discharge than normal. On the plus side, my periods have been regular and I rarely experience cramps. When I do cramp, it is nothing like before I was on birth control."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Levora for about 6 months. I have realized lately that I am very unhappy with it. I have a very decreased sex drive. I never am interested in being intimate. I also have a lot of cramping on my period, which I thought birth control was supposed to decrease. I'm thinking about switching over to Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I was wondering what other people have experienced with that one? All the reviews seem very positive..."

"I came from the UK being on a different pill, which I can't get in the States. I don't think I like Levora at all. I have had major mood swings, am very emotional, and have no sex drive whatsoever. My orgasms are also very weak since I have been taking it. I'm very lethargic all the time and have had a breakout of large red, sore spots on my shoulders and back."

For Birth Control "I was on Levora for 2 months, and when I started taking it, my period was a month late, but I had some breakthrough bleeding. I would also get nauseous late at night. I did break out just a bit, and my sex drive increased. I stopped for a while and started again, and have been on it for a month now. This time my sex drive is lower, and I tend to get dry during sex more often. I'm an emotional wreck. I'm depressed and have lots of anxiety. And I'm always angry or crying. And I'm always hungry and craving things. And my breasts are slightly sore. In the first couple of weeks, I gained weight, then in the last two, I lost weight. But both experiences were different. It does its job of preventing pregnancy, though."

For Birth Control "I have been on Levora for 2 months now. I was on Ortho-Cyclen prior and was switched due to changes in my daily medication regimen. About 1 week into starting the pack, I noticed that I am ravenously hungry all the time. It is similar to when I was pregnant. I've also suffered from increased acne on my face. This could be from stress, but I've never had a problem until starting Levora. Probably the most distressing side effect I've experienced is a marked decrease in my libido. Suffice to say that I enjoyed my intimate moments prior to starting this medication. Now sexual encounters are uncomfortable (vaginal dryness) and few and far between. Complete change from where I was. The 'big O' is harder to achieve, too."

For Birth Control "I've been using Levora for about 3 months and finally coming around to reading these reviews. It makes sense why I've been acting/feeling so weird. I don't recall discussing any of these symptoms with my doctor, but it wasn't till the third month that I noticed the weight gain. Throughout using this pill, I have found myself way more emotional than I usually am. My anxiety has reached its peak. Even though I've worked really hard to keep it under control, I get irritated by almost anything. My sex drive has gone from 4 days a week to once every 2 weeks. Maybe. My partner and I are both very sad about it even though he hasn't left me. I feel like if we didn't come to this conclusion, he might have. Definitely switching to something different."

For Birth Control "This birth control is horrible. Every negative thing that people have been saying is true for me, besides the positive things (but everybody's bodies are different). I have never had acne before taking this medicine, and now my skin is horrible, my sex drive is lower, I've been super sensitive to everything, and I cry almost every day about literally nothing. I also gained 10 pounds in the 3.5 months I've been taking it. I'm getting a new prescription ASAP!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Levora for about 14 months. To be honest, I have no idea why I’ve been on it for so long. I experience severe vaginal dryness that makes sex painful during and after. This was not a problem previously; my sex drive is significantly lowered, and I gained some weight. I’m not pregnant, but I’m not satisfied. Switching this month!"

"I had been on Levora for about 5 years. My insurance put me on that from Levlen (which I had been getting at PP when I had no insurance). The first few years were great-didn't really experience any weight gain, acne increases, moodiness, etc., and it prevented pregnancy as it should. In the last year or little more, though, my experience changed. Levora absolutely started killing my sex drive to the point where I couldn't care less if I had sex, lubrication was very low, and it also took longer to climax. My doctor switched me to Junel Fe, and after 1 month, I'm far happier than on Levora. I'm not sure if my body changed, how it reacted, but it certainly didn't like Levora at the end."

"I've been on Levora since last June. I had to start taking Levora because my old pill, which I loved, has an issue with manufacturing or something. Anyway, I started last June, and by mid-July, I noticed some hair loss. I thought it was just my body going through some changes, so I chalked it up to the change in the seasons. By the time September came around, it wasn't any better. Went to the gyno, who said that hair loss couldn't be because of the pill. She said it was because I stopped taking my prenatal multivitamins. Of course, it's your doctor, so you listen. Started taking my vitamins again in September/October, and it's now March and still have hair loss. I stopped taking Levora on Saturday, so we shall see what happens. Also had very low libido and heavier periods."

For Birth Control "I'm an army wife, and the clinic here switched me to this birth control after 3 years of a different pill. Well, after a couple of months, I've experienced longer periods, a depleted sex drive, and a harder to reach climax. I am not happy since my husband just got back from Iraq, and we should be having the best sex right now."

For Birth Control "I went on Levora because I wanted to skip and reduce my heavy periods as well as clear up my hormonal acne. At first, my acne cleared, but around 6 months later, my acne returned and seems to be worse, some actually cystic. My periods are still immensely heavy and around 6 days, but I skip my period for 3 months at a time, so I am thankful I have birth control to be able to only have it a few times a year. I get terrible cramps, and even my parents noticed that my moods are inconsistent and that my depression seems to have worsened. I have gained weight that is seemingly impossible to lose, and my sex drive is so low for a teenager. I'm going to stop taking it after this pack and see how my body reacts."

For Birth Control "I did not voluntarily take this, my mother made me because I lost my v-card at 17, but I was fine on it for the first 4-5 months. But I always had pain in my ovary areas, but it was fine. I actually liked it because I didn't have to worry about pregnancy. Now, after 5 months, I began losing my sex drive, I couldn't get wet at all even if I was wanting sex. I began having severe mood swings and was so depressed I didn't want to be alive, and I got the ovary pains so bad I went to the emergency room, and they just said it was nothing. The day I turned 18 is the day I got off. I immediately felt better, and I even had a little sex drive. 4 months off doing FAM birth control, still going strong. But this depends on you, I liked it at first, but not in the long run."

For Birth Control "Non-cyclical breast pain, decreased sex drive, difficulty losing weight, discharge. Definitely not the worst I've been on, but the hormonal effects it had on me were not worth staying on it. It also did not do a lot to help my bad PMS symptoms like others I have been on."
