"I stopped taking Zovia after only a month or two because it made me seriously depressed. I felt like life was pointless and was often in generally negative moods. As soon as I switched to a new pill, my dark moods immediately went away."

"I took Zovia for about 6 months, mainly to regulate as well as clear up my skin. It did those things wonderfully, however, I had the WORST night sweats imaginable! I would wake up in the middle of the night soaking wet. I'd have to change my clothes and sleep on a towel. It was awful! This problem outweighed the benefits, so I took myself off. I did get depressed before my period also."

"I have a love-hate relationship with the Zovia 1/35 birth control pill. Back when I was younger, in my teen years, even early 20s, it worked amazingly. No weight gain at all. I stopped taking it for a few years when I started my family, and now, 10 years later, I decided to get back on it. Let me just say, weight gain! I don't blame the pill 100%, but I feel like you have got to be prepared for how hungry this pill makes you! So you will be hungrier than usual and eat more, and hence, gain weight on it. It's getting out of control, I have decided to stop this month."

"I used to be on Yaz and really loved it, but I was worried about all its latest bad reviews. I just switched to Zovia and my breasts are so tender. I thought it would be great to go up a size (I heard this from a friend), but it is really painful. I'm also very bloated, which I'm not used to because you never get bloated or acne from Yaz. I get my period next week, so I'm still unsure if it will be as light as it was on Yaz."

"This was my second pill that I was put on, and for the two years of taking it, I’ve felt my mental state completely switch. I’m now so insecure and anxious all of the time, and the PMS I experience is insane. I have to cry multiple times on my period and before because I get overwhelmed and feel literal pain like a buildup if I don’t. The PMS cramping is ridiculous, and it hasn’t done anything for my acne except for make it worse. It helped to regulate my period, but I also sometimes would start on Mondays and other times I’d start on Tuesdays. Also, I would bleed like insane amounts of blood one day, and the next I won’t even need a tampon."

"I was on Zovia for about 4 years. I always took it on time. I never had any side effects. My periods only lasted about 4 to 5 days. The periods were pretty normal, and no cramps. I missed one dosage and got pregnant. Granted, it was my mistake. I recommend this drug to anyone as long as you don't forget to take it."

"I have been taking Zovia now for a little over a month. My doctor prescribed this because I was having extremely heavy periods with severe cramps, so he said this would help to regulate. But since I've been taking it, I haven't stopped bleeding at all. Thirty-three days of bleeding is the worst, and it hurts to wear a tampon, so I have to wear pads only. My husband, who is trying to be supportive, is starting to get frustrated because we can't even have sex because of all this bleeding. I think I may stop using it."

"I have been on Yasmin for a long time but began having breakthrough periods after my third child. My doctor switched me to Zovia, and within 3 weeks, I gained inches on my hips and thighs. I work out twice a week and watch what I eat, so this was concerning. I also developed a lot of acne on my face: big red sores that were painful. I have since switched back to Yasmin, and my side effects have reversed. Thankfully, it may have been due to the increase in the amount of estrogen from the Zovia."

"I was on Beyaz before switching to Zovia. I switched because my periods were so light that tampons were painful, and pads were too much protection. On Zovia, my periods are even lighter, lasting a max of 2-3 days with an extremely light, almost nonexistent flow, larger breasts, oily skin on my face, weight gain in my abdomen and thighs, and constant bloating. However, my acne has not reappeared since being on Zovia. Thinking about switching birth control. These light periods make me fear I'm pregnant."

"My experience has been great so far. I have been taking this pill for over 8 years now. I did experience weight gain, which was a good thing. I do experience bloating before and during my period, my period tends to last for 3-4 days. I have missed a couple here and there and have not gotten pregnant, thank God. I recommend this pill to anyone who is searching for a pill to try."

"I've been on Zovia for at least a year now. I had tried two other types of pills before this point, but they basically made me have a period for at least two weeks out of the month. Zovia has worked really well. I have typical periods now, and they last maybe 4 days? My acne has cleared up a lot, and I did end up going up a cup size and gaining some weight (this might be related to other things in my life though, so I'm not 100% going to blame the birth control for this). My PMS is better than it used to be (I used to have the worst mood swings before I went on any pill at all). However, my sex drive is super low. I'd say that's probably the only bad part?"

"Okay, so I started this pill two months ago, and I’m currently going on my third month. I have yet to stop bleeding, and I developed acne when I didn’t have any before. My cramps also have gotten worse. I also have terrible back pain, worse than ever before. I also have moods of irritability, where I’ll snap at people if they are doing something even remotely annoying. I wouldn’t recommend this pill at all."

"I recently switched from Loestrin to Zovia. Loestrin made me cramp really bad when I spotted. And I took them every day at the same time. I also would spot for about a week. When I started taking Zovia, which has been for a month and a half, it made me nauseous and I had/have tenderness of the breasts. Nausea went away and my skin cleared up, but I am still experiencing tenderness of the breasts. They hurt really bad and my nipples are sore. My breasts have also enlarged to a cup size. I don't know if this will be for only a short time or if I will continue having this soreness. But overall, I like it, minus my breasts being sore and huge!!"

"I've been on Zovia for only two months. Since then, I have been breaking out massively on my face. My breasts are extremely tender. It makes it very difficult for me to exercise due to the pain. I bloat before and during periods. I was told by doctors that this helps pimples, but it has done the total opposite. I am thinking about going back to Lutera."

"I started it freshman year of high school because it would clear up my acne (not a bad case of acne at all). But I went on it, and it worked. I saw that my skin was clearing up, and I was very pleased with it. I had my first serious relationship freshman year of college and thought the pill would help if anything were to happen with that, I was at least being safe if anything were to get to that point in the relationship. I see a lot of people saying they were moody, that isn't the case at all with me. I was fine when TOM made his visit. I would get, on the first day, the occasional cramp, then it would go away. My mood never changed, I was still happy and healthy. See what your doctor recommends, every pill is different for everyone."

"I was on Zovia for 3 months and had side effects from the start. In the first month, I had a weight gain of 8 pounds. It caused a lot of nausea. It made me severely depressed. I'm switching to Nordette. On the positive side, it did regulate my extremely irregular periods."

"So far, Zovia hasn't really been too bad as far as breast tenderness goes, but it has made them big. My system is so messed up that I ovulate on birth control pills, so I'm hoping that Zovia will stop this since it's high in estrogen."

"I've been on Zovia for about 3 years now and I've about had enough. Yes, it has been so far amazing in preventing pregnancy or whatever. But the side effects are no joke. The weight gain is horrible, for example, if I eat regularly without the birth control, I weigh 130 pounds, but if I'm on the birth control eating the same, I weigh almost 150 pounds. IT IS RIDICULOUS. My mood swings are so bad. I'm so sensitive and emotional, and I wish I would've read reviews on the birth control first because, before your period, if you think PMS is bad, try being on Zovia while you're on your period. NOBODY will want to be around you. Anyways, not everyone is the same, but that's just my experience."

"I only took this a month and had to stop. This made my skin so dry. At first, I couldn’t figure out why. I spent a lot of money on creams and moisturizers, and nothing could help it. My face was so tight to the point where it was extremely uncomfortable all day long. I finally googled it and found out that combination birth controls (those with estrogen and testosterone) stop sebum production, which is why it clears up acne. This is great for oily girls, but not great for girls with already dry skin. I also stopped this pill because it made me eat like a pregnant girl. Nothing would satisfy my appetite, and I was constantly hungry. I gained weight just the short time I was on it."

"I have been on Zovia 1/50 for 5 1/2 months now, it is great! I have no acne, no unplanned pregnancies, and my periods are very light. I have gained weight from being on this pill, though, but I would definitely recommend this birth control!"

"I have been on Zovia for more than 5 years because I have had irregular menses due to a medicine I take for seizures. At first, when I started Zovia, my periods were regular, my skin was clearer, and my hair was long. Only during these last two years have I had at least one month during which my periods were longer than a week. My skin also has been breaking out, and my hair has been breaking off. Now, I'm on my period, and it will be the longest period I have ever had. I have been melancholy, and I have lost my temper at people I love the most, which is not like me. I think my body is tired of Zovia. It is time to switch over to something else."

"Took Demulen 1/35 brand only from 1999-2007. It's been all downhill from there trying to find something that was as amazing as this was. Fuller breasts, great skin, no more cramps, period perfectly on time to the hour, NO headaches, and never once had a migraine in all those years!!!! Amazing pill brand name! Now it's discontinued, and the generic is a complete nightmare!!! Kelnor gave me every extreme symptom there was and felt terrible, gained migraines, cramps, and Zovia made me have horrid cramps, heavy flow, and felt terrible. I stuck it out for months to no avail. I will forever miss Demulen 1/35 brand. Good luck to you all!"

"I take birth control mostly to take care of my extremely heavy periods and hormonal acne. This is by far the best birth control I have been on for me. I originally started on Zovia 1/35 (after already trying 2-3 different kinds of pills), which worked beautifully for a year until I began experiencing spotting and my doctor recommended upping the estrogen and trying out the 1/50. When I first started it, I had horrible nausea because my body wasn't used to that amount of hormones, but that didn't last long. My skin was completely cleared up and periods were the lightest they've ever been. Really loved this pill, but I'm on Mononessa now because my new gynecologist was scared of the amount of hormones I was putting into my body. Never had side effects on this."

"I've been using it for a month, and so far I like it. I switched from Mononessa because Mononessa was making me break out, and I still would bleed heavily on it. My doctor switched me, and now my periods are so light. My first period on it started a couple of days ago, and I was actually scared that it was implantation bleeding because it was so light. My acne has decreased, so that is definitely a bonus. I do feel like my breasts are bigger (and being only 120 lbs, this was a plus for me). There is one thing I'm worried about. My weight fluctuates between 117-123. I have felt like my lower abdomen is full but not bloated. I'm active, but the full feeling in the bladder makes me feel a little self-conscious. Maybe that will go away soon though."

"I have been using Zovia for 2 months, and I have really off periods, so it's been able to keep my periods on track. Not too many side effects, maybe a little nausea, but other than that, I like it. As long as you take it on time, you are fine."
