Estradiol for Postmenopausal Symptoms "For the first 3 months, things were great. On my second Femring, I began to get a rash on my forehead and neck. My neck was especially red, itchy, and dry. At first, I thought it might be due to something else. Perhaps eczema or psoriasis, so I was buying all kinds of creams, and nothing worked. So I double-checked my only prescription, which is the Femring, and lo and behold, one of the possible side effects is a skin rash. It's too soon to know for sure. I hope it goes away."

Estradiol for Hypoestrogenism "On this for gender dysphoria. Mylan .01 patches. Terrible adhesive. Causes irritation. Adheres to skin poorly. I have red rectangles all over from each patch. They itch too. Takes about a month for each red rash rectangle to clear up. My E levels are especially low considering I'm on 2 patches concurrently and use the medication on schedule (BID) and according to the directions (regarding site prep and application). I had to purchase Tegaderm film to keep the patches on. I will be discontinuing usage ASAP. This product should not be sold and needs to go back to research and development."

Estradiol for Atrophic Vaginitis "People seem to have an issue with keeping the patch in place. The only thing that seems to work is Tegaderm hospital tape, cut a piece and place it over the patch. I do not know why Big Pharma, which charges a fortune for this RX, does not include a cut-to-size Tegaderm tape piece with every patch. Surely they can afford it, and they must know getting the patch to stick is an issue for their users. Side note: the glue on the patch causes my skin to be red, burn, and itch during the first day of a new patch, this diminishes as the week progresses. It works well for symptoms of low energy and achy joints, muscles, hot flashes. Not so well with the vaginal atrophy and vaginal dryness part, which is too bad. I've been on it for close to a year, and those symptoms seem to be getting worse, even with regular sexual activity. I will be trying the ring."

Estradiol for Postmenopausal Symptoms "I’ve only started using Climara since mid-April. It’s hard to remove the patch from the backing. Also, I itch beneath and around the area. With the heat and sweat, it comes off. Copay is high. So replacing a patch is pricey."

Estradiol for Postmenopausal Symptoms "The Mylan patch causes severe itching and raised red oozing patches of skin underneath, allergic to adhesive? Maybe? I have gotten relief from hot flashes and have better energy from all kinds I have tried. I found the Sandoz patches come off easily but prefer them to the Mylan because of the welts I get on my tummy. Every time I remove my pants to use the bathroom, the wound would get ripped open and bleed all over several times a day. Finally, I used bag balm on a gauze pad to get it to heal."

Estradiol for Oophorectomy "I have been on the Mylan brand of Estradiol weekly patch for a few years. In the last month or so, I have started getting one large welt under the patch with extreme itching. Even after I take it (or it falls off) and wash the area well, I still have the welt and severe itching for at least another week. I have tried taking oral allergy medication to help the itching, and it has not helped. One time, when the patch came off, I got the welt in exactly one-fourth of the area of the circle. Just like a clock face with the welt between 12 and 3. This does not appear to be a typical allergic reaction. I was an RN and am familiar with skin reactions. I have called the FDA about this, and I am completing an adverse reaction report for this product. (FDA.gov/medwatch). If the FDA does not know about this, they cannot do anything about it!"

Estradiol for Postmenopausal Symptoms "I was using the combi patch, a thin clear patch that stayed on, but lost my insurance, and the expense was too much. Moved to this Mylan brand and pill progesterone. Patch is terrible, as people say here, thick, white, and itchy. With this many complaints, I don’t get it. If the medicine is in the adhesive, why can’t the patch be clear and tweaked to stay on better? It is a waste for too many people."

Estradiol for Postmenopausal Symptoms "Have been on Estradiol patch for a year now. Loved them, small, tiny, clear, didn't even know it was there. Used Sandoz, then the pharmacy switched. Like others, I thought no big deal, it happens. So I tried it. 2 to 3 days after having the patch on, I was itching like crazy, red rash, and replacing to put a new one made me sick to my stomach. Mylan Estradiol patches suck. Been trying to find the Sandoz brand, so far no luck. I might just be looking into getting back on the hormone pellet."

Estradiol for Postmenopausal Symptoms "Taking 0.075 mg/day patch to be changed every 3-4 days. It lasts 2 days because when I take a shower, water gets under the patch, then it loosens and starts itching like crazy. My skin is red. It is very uncomfortable. I don't believe I am getting the proper dosage because of this. (I am also taking progesterone pills at the same time. I am sure I am getting the right amount of progesterone...but I need to have the right amount of estrogen in order for my body to function right.) What a waste of time."

For Postmenopausal Symptoms "It seems easy to use/apply. The medicine comes in a gel (L'estrogel) to be applied to my arms once daily after a shower, in combination with Duphaston 5mg progesterone pills. Within 7 days of using it, I noticed there were tiny bumps on my forearm and they itched a little. I thought the alcohol in the gel was causing some dryness, so after a few hours of application, I used a moisturizer on my arm. It seemed to work after a few days. No itching, no rash. Almost 3 weeks in, and the rashes are back, and the itching is worse. I'm not sure if I should immediately stop using it and wait to see the doctor or continue but go to the doctor as soon as possible. The other side effects I am experiencing are breast pains and short cramping sensations in my lower abdomen. They don't last long, though. I didn't have cramping before."

Estradiol for Postmenopausal Symptoms "Warning - Itchy/painful. I used Estradiol Patch (Sandoz) 0.025 mg for 2 months, changing 2x a week. I also took Progesterone 100 mg daily. I'm 52, perimenopausal, and suffer from hot flashes every hour during the night. Within a week, the hot flashes disappeared, BUT got my period every 9 days lasting 5 days, so I only had a break of 3-4 days in between. 2 weeks ago, I dropped Progesterone to 14 days a month, and periods stopped. Shortly after, I started to get very itchy and sore within a day of replacing the patch, and the hot flashes came back with a vengeance. I now realize I developed an allergy to the patches and still have 8 rectangle discolored itchy patches that won't go away. I switched to Evamist 2 days ago and hope to get relief soon."

Estradiol for Oophorectomy "I was switched several years ago from Climara to Mylan brand. I have found it does not stay in place well, leading to skin breakdown and waste of product. It is foam-based and larger than the Climara patch-this prevents adequate adhesion to the skin, allowing sweat to form underneath. It’s frustrating and uncomfortable. It takes my skin approximately 3 weeks to recover from itch/rash and associated redness."

Estradiol for Oophorectomy "The Mylan patches caused welts, itching, and scars on me and often did not stay on for 3.5 days. The Sandoz patches worked better than the Mylan, but I cannot find a pharmacy that carries them. I've called all pharmacies near me, including grocery stores and big box stores. The Dotti patches cause itching and discolor my skin but are preferable to Mylan patches. I had used Minivelle and Vivelle-Dot for close to 10 years, and they worked great without any skin issues, but unfortunately, I cannot afford those brands now."

Estradiol for Postmenopausal Symptoms "I have been on the patches for a month and a half. They have definitely helped with my perimenopause symptoms. I do find they cause my skin to become red, raised, and itchy, though."

Estradiol for Postmenopausal Symptoms "Vivelle Dot worked great, but insurance stopped covering. Generic was okay until the last few months when Mylan was the brand I was given. It doesn’t stick well at all, and I’m having open blisters and redness that are painful and itchy. I’m not using them because I’m afraid of getting an infection. I’m also getting hot flashes and night sweats after 10 years without them. I called Mylan but still need to fill out the extensive paperwork for the customer complaint. Tried to get Vivelle again, but it would be $500 a month. I don’t know what to do. I really need the bone benefits from estrogen and don’t absorb oral meds well."
