For Migraine Prevention "I have taken 6 or 7 injections. My doctor tells me over and over that my new side effects have nothing to do with the injections, but I really do not believe her. Besides severe exhaustion, constipation, and vertigo, I also have very long menstrual periods. Does anyone else experience period changes?"

For Migraine Prevention "It’s been 8 weeks since a single 70 mg injection. Up to that point, I was 16 weeks into a cluster headache cycle of 2 severe headaches a day. By day I+3, I was 40 hours between headaches. That’s when I noticed the tinnitus growing louder. By day I+7, the cluster headaches had all but stopped, but vertigo hit and hit hard. Trying to move around was more like a trembling constant fall where I’m trying to catch myself. The tinnitus was now a roar that blocked out all other sounds. Unable to concentrate on anything. Stayed like that for 6 weeks. Barely able to work. About a week ago, I had a decrease in my hearing. Judging by the volume numbers on the TV and radio, I’ve lost about 60-75% of my hearing. Don’t know if it’s permanent yet."

For Migraine Prevention "Been taking Aimovig for 3 months. Doing really great until my last injection. Got the injection on Friday, Monday I couldn’t get out of bed. I had an extreme case of vertigo, nausea, throwing up, low blood pressure, heart palpitations, brain fog was brutal! I pushed it off as being a flu bug, but doctors don’t agree. I contacted my Aimovig team, but they are adamant those side effects are NOT due to the Aimovig injection. They said those side effects come from patients taking the placebo injections. I KNOW those symptoms aren’t just in my head! Was hospitalized and been back to the hospital every second day since. The doctor is doing procedures to correct the vertigo. I’m soon due for my next injection but not sure what to be doing. The injections have helped with the pain, but I just can’t handle all those side effects. At least with migraine pain, I can get some relief with medication, but with this there is NO break whatsoever! So torn as to what I should be doing."

For Migraine Prevention "Been on Aimovig for a year now. Everything was going great, but I began to get increasingly concerned with the effects. I missed a couple of days in between injections, the migraines returned but with increased severity. Last week, I missed one day between injections. Was sitting calmly, I was hit with kaleidoscope vision in both eyes, then vision in my left eye dimmed, dizziness, and nausea. I went to the ER concerned it was a TIA or stroke. After blood work, CT scan, and other stuff, the doctors concluded I was experiencing a complex migraine. I had never had such migraines ever, and I have had migraines since I was 11, with 5 to 7 a week. This morning, I got a piercing pain in my right eye, and the muscles in the left side of my face constricted. The ER doctors explained that migraines could cause face muscle distortion or drooping. Again, I have not had this experience before with any of my past migraines. I am not certain I want to continue this medication, which had been working great."

For Migraine Prevention "I have had migraines all of my life, I have tried everything as well. I started out with Aimovig on a lower dose (70mg), then we raised the dose to 140mg last month, which is when the flu-like symptoms started: nausea, lightheadedness, dizziness, can't keep food down (all the other flu-like symptoms that others are complaining about). It wasn't until I went to a doctor and had loads of tests ran that I thought to do a computer search for side effects that aren't listed on the package. Wow, I wish I had looked here first. I won't be taking any more shots, that's for sure. I have at least 140 days for it to get out of my system, it says. (It's been over 30 days so far with the flu-like symptoms. I've lost over 10 pounds so far, this is bad.)"

For Migraine Prevention "At first, a wonder drug. The next dose, a week after the injection, dizziness and severe fatigue. I’m on my 8th injection and now headaches worse than before, although not as many. Also, extreme hair loss and weight gain of 15 pounds! Sad to say, this will be my last injection."

For Migraine Prevention "On Aimovig, I had severe constipation, plus my migraines began to change locations and increased in frequency. I also had ear pain that started getting worse. I started getting numb in my face with my migraines, which never happened before. After stopping, I got viral bronchitis, and my facial numbness started getting worse. I am getting dizzy spells that are increasing in intensity and how often they happen. Plus, severe ear pain got much worse (not connected to migraine pain), causing dizzy spells that have sent me to the ER a few times and face numbness getting worse. Doctors don’t know what is wrong. MRI fine, blood work fine... only thing new recently is Aimovig and viral bronchitis, but symptoms started with the Aimovig. I stopped Aimovig after 3 months, I couldn’t handle the side effects anymore."

For Migraine Prevention "I'm glad other people have noticed relief with this medicine, but my experience with this shot was absolutely horrible. I have had headaches every day 24/7 for 10 years. They have tried multiple different medications to try to help my pain, and nothing has worked. After I took that shot of Aimovig, my pain has gotten so much worse. In 10 years of having these headaches, I have never had this bad of pain, and that's shocking considering how bad they were before I took the shot. I am so weak all the time, I have a tremor in my right hand, severe dizziness, and bad vision issues, all because of these headaches. I just don't understand, aren't migraine medications supposed to help, not make you worse? I am grateful that I didn't have to pay much for it, but that's not comforting considering what happened."

For Migraine Prevention "63-year-old female with migraines for 7 yrs after a failed surgery on C5-C7 vertebrae. Debilitating migraines 18-20 days/month. After a year of being on the highest dosage of Oxy allowed, my pain management doc offered Aimovig. I've had 2 injections and a 3rd is in my refrigerator where it will stay. For a couple of days after the 1st injection, I felt hungover, with dizziness similar to vertigo. A week later, I developed this rash all over my legs that looked like chigger bites. The itching and skin sensitivity are unbearable and wake me up in the middle of the night. Skin is hypersensitive and I can no longer stand anything hotter than lukewarm water, which makes me feel like my skin is on fire. I have bruises all over with no explanation, fatigue and depression along with constipation. I still have at least 8-10 migraines/month. The side effects are so awful I can't recommend it. I just hope they aren't permanent."

For Migraine Prevention "I should have read the reviews before I got suckered into taking this drug. I'm now on about month 9 of the drug. I started with 70 mg and then was increased to 140 mg. I've been having extreme dizziness/vertigo, terrible constipation, and a distended belly (it feels like food is just sitting at the top of my stomach for weeks on end!), overall lack of energy, confusion, and odd pressure in the side of my head where I used to get migraines. I am going to stop this drug right away. It has cut down my migraines but at the cost of my overall health."

For Migraine Prevention "I know that it has helped some, but I really wish more research had been done before this came to Canada. I have now been off work for two weeks because of one injection of Aimovig. The side effects have been horrible. I have been in and out of the hospital and doctors' offices, and doctors don't know what to do to reverse the effects (there is nothing they can do) other than wait it out. I took the injection on the 17th, and by the 20th, this turned to my chest hurting and being tight and my throat being extremely sore and trying to close. I have experienced an eleven-day straight worst migraine of my life that, despite IV Toradol and magnesium, will not quit. The body pain, throwing up, dizziness, migraine, and pressure make it impossible to do anything. I also struggle with remembering what I am doing when doing things and have been dropping everything I try to carry. Please do more research before considering this drug for yourself. I now have to worry about finances as I am officially losing wages and out of sick time."

For Migraine Prevention "I just took Aimovig for the first time yesterday. I had stomach cramps in the afternoon but didn’t think much of it. Last night, I woke up at midnight and felt extremely disoriented, dizzy, nauseous, shaking, and my lips and hands were numb. I felt like I was having a major adverse reaction and had to get my husband to call the ambulance (first time in my 38 years). I would never recommend this drug to anyone because none of these side effects were even listed as possibilities. The next day I had a terrible migraine from staying up all night at the hospital and now have that under control but am still extremely lightheaded, have stomach cramps, and still feel numb in my hands/lips. I hope this drug gets out of my body soon!"

For Migraine Prevention "Well, first off, I’m allergic to latex. I now have a rash on my thigh. When I was given the Aimovig, I was dizzy, almost passed out at my pharmacy. The injection leg is a bit numb, my words are slurred. As for my stomach and lower back, I just curl up in a ball. I’m having mood swings, and after about the starter injection, my migraine became worse. I can’t clearly focus, and I'm exhausted but can’t sleep. I’ve had these migraines for about 30 years, and my meds work great, but now I feel foggy and so achy. I was hoping it would work, but it made them worse and my body worse. I’m happy to hear people getting relief, it just didn’t happen for me."

For Migraine Prevention "I took my first dose on Aug 27th, and it made me really dizzy and lightheaded. It has not helped my migraines and has given me flu-like symptoms so bad that I can't hardly do anything. I take nighttime sleep meds, and I have noticed it counteracts with my meds, and I get no sleep at all. I am so extremely disappointed in this new medication."

For Migraine Prevention "It's been thirty-three years of headaches, cluster headaches, migraines, pressure headaches, all have attacked me. There's been many doctors, lots of pseudoephedrine and other drugs, and now my newest neurologist put me on Aimovig. Well, my headaches have gotten worse. Maybe my problem lies somewhere else, but the last few days have been the worst. The pain and pressure were so bad I lost function of my right leg, all of my balance was gone, and I honestly thought I was going to die. Yesterday, I finally got a brief respite, and today is a good day. I dread another attack and have no faith in today's medicine. Good luck to you all."

For Migraine Prevention "I began having joint pain and swelling, as well as nausea, shortness of air, and dizziness since starting Aimovig. I reported my side effects to the FDA, but I don't think they care. My migraines have been the same, if not worse. Very frustrating because my doctor states Aimovig has no side effects."

For Migraine Prevention "I have had migraines for 37 years. Nothing works long term for me. Botox gave me a low-level headache for 3 months straight. Started Aimovig last summer, gave it the 6 months plus to fully work as the pharmacists said. Last injection April 15th, I was doing one shot every 2 weeks. I have stopped due to the side effects. Have now found out that it will take 3 months to run its course. So, I felt that I was ALWAYS about to get a migraine, like a '3-4' headache. Felt flu-ish, flushed, occasional heart palpitations, lower jaw pain, some insomnia, and then the last 2 months mild bladder leakage (which I had an U/S, so I know there is no prob) and then the short-term memory loss all of a sudden. Plus, I suffer from vertigo, but I have had it straight for 3 months. I wonder? Enough! Yes, I just got slammed with a massive migraine after stopping. From what I have read, there are 2 points of view, it either really works or it doesn't. I thought in the beginning it was going to be the miracle drug for me."

For Migraine Prevention "This drug was a free trial. My biggest regret? Injecting it... I'm suffering the effects, and I still have only taken one injection on July 2nd, and that is sufficient enough for me. Never ever again. Migraines worsened, neck stiffness, lightheaded all the time, terrible nausea, my stomach looked like I had blown up a balloon inside me. The worst part was severe vertigo, some days the room would spin around and around, and I had to hold onto the wall down the passageway. Stemetil has eased it but only slightly. I'm so unhappy about these side effects. I have never had a reaction like this. I will be staying on Topamax and Maxalt wafers. My advice: do not touch this poison!"

For Migraine Prevention "Within a week of my first 140 ng injection, I started having a lot of dizziness and just feeling really lightheaded. Also, this terrible pressure in my entire head. Very hard to function. It’s been 2 weeks, and I just want it out of my system! Never again. I went in with positive thoughts after reading the listed side effects and am very disappointed. I see similar comments about the lightheaded feelings and am very frustrated."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been on Aimovig 140 for 8 months. It’s a wonder drug for the migraines. I may get 1-2 a month now (if that). Before, it was almost daily. However, I am now experiencing awful side effects-dizziness, chest and back pain, nausea, shortness of breath about 9 days after the shot. This is the only new drug I am taking, so these side effects have to be a result of it. I have done extensive blood work and everything is clear. Strangely enough, I don’t have the constipation side effect. I have not yet decided whether to stop or not."

For Migraine Prevention "Aimovig (140 mg) 3 months. I’m happy for the people it helped... For me, I felt dizziness from the beginning, also lack of concentration, extreme fatigue, daily heartaches, stomach aches, depression, and augmentation of tinnitus and constipation. This is what I felt, but do not judge the medication for everyone, those were my personal side effects."

For Migraine Prevention "I’ve taken one 70 mg dose of Aimovig so far. First off, the injection (given in the left arm) hurt like anything. It was like getting harshly stabbed with a large needle. Now, I’m dealing with crazy side effects. Severe dizziness, blurred vision, and sometimes even trouble taking deep breaths. It’s as if my lungs will not expand all the way. Oh!! And don’t forget the constipation!! Despite the side effects, I have seen a decrease in my migraines. When I do get one, they have changed—more nausea and now dizziness!! Side effects are disruptive and awful. I will not be injecting myself with this drug EVER again."

I would like to go through the side effects that weren't listed: trouble breathing (out of breath), dizziness, flu-like symptoms, joint pain, nausea. Stomach cramps became so bad I ended up not being able to eat for several months. I wish I had never taken Aimovig, it did way more harm than good, in my opinion."
