Drospirenone "I've been taking Slynd for 4.5 months. So far, this has been wonderful! I had extremely heavy periods. I was bleeding for 12 days every month, and 5-6 of those I was changing a menstrual cup every 1-2 hours, even at night. My ferritin was down to 5. This was my last resort before I figured I'd end up with a hysterectomy. The first two and a half months, I had significant spotting and light bleeding. After that, nothing! No other side effects. My moods are stable. I don't have hardly any anxiety anymore. No weight gain. No headaches. I hope this continues to work this well. It's been a lifesaver!"

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I’m only allowed to take POPs due to having migraines with aura. I took Slynd for a year, and it’s the best. I didn’t get my period on it, I lost weight, my PCOS was entirely managed, and I didn’t get one noticeable cyst while on it! It helped my acne as well. I had breakthrough bleeding for two months, then it was completely gone. I went off of it due to my migraines increasing and wanted to see if it was from Slynd. I gave my body 10 months to adjust to being off of BC, and it was miserable. I gained 40 pounds, cysts were back, raging acne and cramps, super irregular periods. And my migraines were just as bad, if not worse, so I knew it wasn’t Slynd. I went back on, and only two months in, and I’ve lost 15 pounds, and cysts are already better. Got new migraine medicine too, so they’re better as well! I love Slynd, it’s the best POP you can take by far."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "It’s effective against pregnancy because spotting, cramping, bloating, and discomfort happen for several weeks. Also, my anxiety and depression have increased since starting Slynd. I’m not sure if it’s because I haven’t been on it for as long as many other people (I started using Slynd November 19th) - but I don’t want this to keep going throughout months to the point where I throw out the pill and just use another form of contraceptive. My doctor recommended this to me because he thought I was very sexually active - even though this pill stopped me from being sexually active completely because of the amount of periods I got for a long amount of time. Not to mention I kept getting cystic acne and acne in general - and I’ve been gaining weight as well."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I've been on Slynd for a month, I've just started the second pack. I'm skipping the placebo pills, so I won't get a period. I've had consistent spotting every day the past month (I started it day one of my period). I'm incredibly nauseated, like morning sickness in my pregnancies. It hits me all the time. I'm also more exhausted than usual, and I've gained back 15 lbs. My hair is falling out more than usual, but I'm not certain if that's the fault of the medication or having children. It is effectively stopping my periods so far, so I'm not having as severe PMDD problems, but I'm not sure if the side effects outweigh the effects."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I was on a combination pill since 2014. I was switched to a progestin-only pill in 2018 due to having Factor V Leiden. That pill didn’t agree with my body due to horrible mood swings and heavy periods. I was switched back to the combination pill because it had been working. My doctor switched me to Slynd in 2020 because the combination had stopped working for me (heavy periods, cramping, acne). I liked Slynd at first, but I came off of it due to having no period at all, constant bloating, weight gain, acne, and cramping. I switched to another progestin-only pill in 2021, and my period has still yet to come back. I overall feel like the pill truly wrecked my body, and I haven’t felt right since taking it. I definitely do NOT recommend! My insurance also stopped covering this medicine, and it was $30 a month."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "On Slynd for a year now. Switching back to my old POP. I'm 22, 5'3", and I've gained so much weight on this pill, which has never happened with any other pill, including estrogen-containing ones. It's also made me more irritable, moody before periods, and I bled for 18 days last month. The first few months were great, and it actually controlled my period. But now I'll break through bleed again whenever. Not worth the hefty price tag, and my insurance won't cover. Didn't get pregnant, though."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I'm 49 years old, and my doctor prescribed this since I have high BP and can't take any other type of pill, and after several unsuccessful attempts to get an IUD. I'm finishing up my fourth month pack. The first 69 days was great. No period, cramping, etc. After that, I've been having breakthrough bleeding every day since. I've also gained 15 pounds. I've decided to stop taking it even though my periods before were irregular and heavy. I'd rather deal with that than daily breakthrough bleeding."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "So this is my first birth control I've taken since I've had my baby. I've been taking it for about 5 months (or maybe a little less), and honestly, it's not that great. I have anxiety, and it's made my anxiety worse. I feel nauseated on this pill, I have constant acne and weight gain, and my period has gone on for weeks. But those don't matter as much to me as the anxiety and random panic attacks. I've had this problem before, which is why I stopped taking birth control in the first place, but this is bad. I will eventually switch pills when I am able to get insurance again, because wow, it is bad."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I started taking Slynd in the beginning of March, and I'm currently on my second pack. So far, I've had breakthrough bleeding lasting 7 days every second week of the pack. I'm breastfeeding, so I haven't returned to my real cycle yet. So far, no weight gain or mood swings and no acne, just heavy breakthrough bleeding. My libido is great and unaffected by this pill, and I love the 24-hour window just in case I get distracted. I have a standard Blue Cross insurance, and my pills are covered at 100 percent."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I am on my 6th month of Slynd. I was on Yaz before and loved it. But I was having constant migraines. My gyno switched me to Slynd. I have PCOS and endo. I have ChampVA insurance and it's not covered. My prices have ranged from 40 to 90 bucks. I have not had my period the entire time I have been on Slynd, and I have taken the placebo. A few days before, during, and after the placebo pills, I have dark, clotted blood only when I wipe. No real bleeding. My cramps are insane. The cysts are so awful. My back pain/sciatica nerve pain makes me cry. I have cystic acne and a ton of acne all over my face and back. I have never had acne this bad. The worst part... I have gained 30 pounds since starting this!! I am done. While I haven't had any migraines and haven't gotten pregnant... it's not worth my self-confidence that is making my depression and anxiety so much worse (I have had Mirena before and did fine with it. NuvaRing I got pregnant on. I have 2 kids, and I am 31.)"

Drospirenone "For the first time in my life, I am currently not taking painkillers to manage my period cramps. I am 27 years old and have always experienced severe menstrual cramps, which ibuprofen barely helped to alleviate. So, I started taking metamizole for the pain, but my flow is also very heavy. I have explored alternative medicine and tried a mini pill, but I had to stop taking it after three weeks due to weight gain and depression. Then I started taking Slynd, but for the first three months, I had my period twice a month, and the bleeding was just as heavy and painful as always. Furthermore, I experienced light bleeding in between the periods, so I only had about three days of no bleeding each month. It was a terrible experience. However, during the third blister's placebo pills, I didn't experience any bleeding, and all breakthrough bleeding stopped until day 11 of the next blister. My gynecologist has informed me that everything is looking good, and my period seems to be occurring in the middle of the blister. Although the flow is still heavy and there is some cramping, I haven't had to use any painkillers. I am currently in my fourth month of taking Slynd and plan to continue with it."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I was looking for ways to regulate my period. I was always hesitant about birth control because I was afraid of the side effects, especially weight gain. Having insulin-resistant PCOS, it’s already hard to lose weight. I was hesitant until my doctor told me about progestin birth control. So I was put on Slynd back in October 2022. The first month was absolutely wonderful. I felt like a normal person. I wasn’t inflamed as I had been previously, my mood wasn’t all over the place, I lost some weight, had energy, and, best of all, I got my period in November 2022. Unfortunately, I haven’t had my period since then. I’m back to being inflamed, my mood is all over the place, no energy, etc. I’ve also noticed my hair has been falling out more than it ever has before. Not sure if that’s because of my PCOS or what, but thought I’d mention it. I’m glad this worked for some, but it didn’t for me. Plus, I don’t have insurance, so it’s expensive."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "This was probably one of the worst birth controls I have ever taken. Combination pills did not work with me, so I wanted to try this. This scared me away from ever wanting to try another BC again. I am on day 3 of stopping it. I still feel like rubbish, my breasts hurt, I feel nauseated, I have had like a pressure headache for weeks, I gained weight quickly, had diarrhea, incredibly fatigued, almost felt like I had the flu. I wake up in the morning feeling so lazy even though I got 9 or more hours of sleep. My period was two weeks long. I only took it a month, and I could not stick it out. Everyone is different, but this was my experience. I will deal with endo pain over feeling like this."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I just finished my first pack 2 days ago, and I'm waiting for my period, which looks like it's not going to happen anytime soon! I'm a petite PCOS sufferer, and I have been struggling with this monster for 14 years. I have been on so many different types of birth control, but all had ended horribly, and one caused cervix irritation, causing unstoppable bleeding! Since starting this pill, that non-stop breakthrough has ended. I also love the fact that it's Drospirenone, meaning that I don't have to worry about androgenic effects in my body. No weight gain, no acne, and my mood swings have improved a lot! I'll continue taking this pill. I'm just hoping that it doesn't completely stop my period, but it balances it, and we'll see..."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I have been on this pill since my gyno decided my BP was too high for the estrogen one. It's been a year and a half because she refuses to switch me, and I do not want to get pregnant, or else I would just stop taking it altogether. I have had so much weight gain, mood swings more than normal, periods that come and go every other week some months, and then no periods for a couple of months. I am so over this pill, as soon as I can get a tubal scheduled or get my husband scheduled for a vasectomy, I'm done!!"

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I love this Slynd pill! I am so lucky to have found a BC that is right for me and my body. I'm a bigger girl, so it is a good option versus a regular BC pill. I haven't had any side effects, the first few months I was spotting for like 2 weeks at a time, but now it's regulated, so I will skip spotting and bleeding for months at a time, and then just a small spotting here and there, and then back to nothing! No weight gain, no acne, and I think it has helped my PMS anxiety slightly as well."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "My experience has been decent. I had bad hormonal acne, and since taking Slynd continuously, it has started clearing a lot. However, before I decided to take it continuously, I was breaking out badly after the placebo pills. I haven’t had any breakthrough bleeding, even before I switched to continuous. Just my period before, and now not even that. My mood is definitely more stable, but I feel like I have slightly lower energy. I initially had lower sex drive, but my body adjusted, and now I’m back to normal. I have gained slight weight (5-7 lbs), but I’ve been eating worse and exercising less. I’m not sure if it’s the pill causing low energy and cravings or if it’s just my choices, hard to say. Either way, nothing drastic. Overall, it's much better than the original mini pill, which is awful, and I took that for years. I think, in more time to level out, it will continue to improve. I have a friend in the medical field who says you should really give your body a YEAR on a new pill to adjust."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "As someone who cannot take estrogen in my birth control due to having a history of migraine with aura (stroke risk), this has been the only estrogen-free birth control I’ve used with no side effects or breakthrough bleeding! Been on it for 4 months (it takes 2 months for any adjustment period). I only spotted VERY mildly 3 times on the 2nd week, and that was it - no side effects after that. No acne, increased hunger, or weight gain on Slynd either! PRO TIP: start Slynd on the first day of your period, this will drastically reduce the risk of breakthrough bleeding or spotting. This was recommended by my OBGYN NP, and I'm glad I took her advice as I didn’t know that. PRO TIP #2: most insurances don’t cover Slynd. You can get it affordably through a telehealth service like Nurx for $58 for a 3-month pack. I get a 3-month pack for $50 through a mail-in pharmacy that my OBGYN is partnered with, so ask your OBGYN too."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "Ok, let's start off. I have been on the IUD, arm insert, both caused me to bleed for a little over 2 years nonstop. So therefor, I was told to try the shot, so I did because I've had it before in my early 20s, and it made me the same way. But I turned 30, I tried Depo, and it worked fantastic with no bleeding at all. But it caused me so, so much weight gain, so I finally stopped that shot over a year ago and I lost the weight. Yet I was not on anything. So I tried a different kind of birth control for a short time. I'm 35 and a smoker, and there was only one kind I could take, but it caused me to bleed very heavily on that pill too, so I stopped it. My doctor prescribed Slynd and said this will work just fine without the bleeding. I'm going back to my OB/GYN in April, so I can get my tubes tied, so she gave me samples of the Slynd. I have not bled or had mood changes, nothing at all, no side effects whatsoever. So I just take these until my appointment. But so far, it's been amazing, no problems. I would say this."

For Birth Control "I would have been on this forever if I could. I have suffered from anxiety, mental health issues, and weight problems for years. I was terrified to go on a birth control because of the side effects and weight gain. I was having very irregular periods, and was in a lot of pain so I really didn't have a choice. Not only did slynd stop my pain, it made my mood so much better and I lost weight on it. I did not know birth control, of all things, could boost my mental health so much. Unfortunately, my coupon for this medication doesn't work anymore so I can't use it. I'm on another birth control and I am miserable, mentally and physically. If I had the money, I would absolutely pay for slynd out of pocket. It is so hard for me to get it covered. That is the only reason I'm taking off a point. Lol slynd, please sponsor me. I am in so much pain but am so broke."

Drospirenone "I was put on Slynd for issues with ovulation pain. It helped for sure after just a month of being on it. I unfortunately had some weight gain with it. My bleeding was very sporadic. Some months would be very light, other months no bleeding at all, even on period weeks. I have been on it for over 2 years now and am starting to have bad symptoms: daily bleeding, almost for over a month, abdominal pain, and cramping. Unfortunately, having to stop taking it."

Drospirenone "I have multiple hormonal disorders, including PCOS, PMDD, endometriosis, and adenomyosis. I've been on BC before that had drosperinone in it (Yaz and Yasmin), which seemed to work pretty well, but I am very unhappy with how the progestin-only tablet is working. It causes really awful weight gain (I've ballooned up), bloating, breast tenderness, cramping, and now I have an ovarian cyst (which is the whole point of taking the pill in the first place). Since there is no generic, insurance companies don't want to cover continuous use, so it is near impossible to get when you need a refill. I am switching back to an older medication."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "So I did a review back in August of 2020, I had reviewed it a 10. Following my review, it's like I jinxed myself and was constantly spotting. Would always start mid-pack all the way till the pack ended. It was so annoying. Sometimes, after spotting, I would get a period at the end of the placebos, and it would continue to the next pack. Then on the 14th day, continued with off-and-on spotting. I almost gave up, but I decided to skip the placebos and jump straight to the next pack (10 months in). That following month, I didn’t have spotting or bleeding. The following months after, I’ve taken the placebos (doctor advised me not to skip them), and so far, I have not had a period or spotting. I have gained 13 pounds. Not a big deal for me, I’ve always had a hard time gaining weight. Not sure if skipping the placebos that month helped my body adjust to it somehow. I was sure that I would start the spotting the following month, but nothing. I’m hoping it stays this way."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I have been on Slynd for over a month. I have noticed this pill increases appetite and induces weight gain, especially when on my period. I could not stop eating. I also noticed during my period with this medicine, I bled about 6 days, where before I only bled 3 or 4 days with my previous pill. Although my periods started to have breakthrough bleeding with the former pill. I doubt this pill is the right one for me as I have gained almost 10 lbs in one month, maybe more, and I really don't like that side effect."
