Drospirenone for Birth Control "I'm 41, a smoker, and used to have depression and migraine problems. Before Slynd, I was a year on Camila, which gave me severe mood swings, uncontrollable anger, and depression (with suicidal thoughts) all the time, plus heavy bleeding twice a month for the last 5 months. My GYN recommended Slynd. I'm on my second pack now, and that’s what I noticed. My depression went away completely! My mood is stable every day (before it was changing from anger to tears, then to stupid excitement several times during the day). It's funny, I feel happier now. I wake up easier in the morning. I lost 6 pounds for a month on Slynd (eating the same things as before). No interest in alcohol at all, I just don't drink it (before, I used to have a glass or two every evening, maybe because I was constantly depressed). Skin is softer, no acne so far (on Camila, skin was clean as well, but extremely dry and felt like a sand mask on my face, constantly like you touch a kiwi). No headaches at all now. Period lasts 6 days."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I've already been four months on this pill, and I'm having the worst acne of my life. I thought it'd improve with time, but no, it remains the same, and I'm not able to cope with it. I've already spent a lot of money on products and treatments, and what is more, I'm constantly dehydrated, have to wake up at night to pee, feel weak and depressed, no sex drive... definitely gonna quit right now."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "So this is my first birth control I've taken since I've had my baby. I've been taking it for about 5 months (or maybe a little less), and honestly, it's not that great. I have anxiety, and it's made my anxiety worse. I feel nauseated on this pill, I have constant acne and weight gain, and my period has gone on for weeks. But those don't matter as much to me as the anxiety and random panic attacks. I've had this problem before, which is why I stopped taking birth control in the first place, but this is bad. I will eventually switch pills when I am able to get insurance again, because wow, it is bad."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I started taking Slynd in the beginning of March, and I'm currently on my second pack. So far, I've had breakthrough bleeding lasting 7 days every second week of the pack. I'm breastfeeding, so I haven't returned to my real cycle yet. So far, no weight gain or mood swings and no acne, just heavy breakthrough bleeding. My libido is great and unaffected by this pill, and I love the 24-hour window just in case I get distracted. I have a standard Blue Cross insurance, and my pills are covered at 100 percent."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I have been taking Slynd now for 5 months and was on Sibilla Plus before (dienogest ethinylestradiol). My periods are completely gone and I haven’t even had any breakthrough bleeding, but my skin is extremely oily, which is increasing the number of breakouts I have. Most of the time, these are whiteheads from the oil overproduction, which was corrected by the Sibilla pill before since it took away the oiliness and overall kept my skin in good shape. In conclusion, I don’t mind that I no longer have a period, but the extreme greasiness my skin has now is affecting my life on a daily basis and is making me break out very often. An upside is that I no longer have migraines, which I had when I was on Sibilla, which is the reason I had to stop taking it (I’m at an increased risk of a stroke/blood clots). I would recommend this if you don’t have any issues with your skin, but since I naturally have an oily and acne-prone skin type, this doesn’t work for me."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I am on my 6th month of Slynd. I was on Yaz before and loved it. But I was having constant migraines. My gyno switched me to Slynd. I have PCOS and endo. I have ChampVA insurance and it's not covered. My prices have ranged from 40 to 90 bucks. I have not had my period the entire time I have been on Slynd, and I have taken the placebo. A few days before, during, and after the placebo pills, I have dark, clotted blood only when I wipe. No real bleeding. My cramps are insane. The cysts are so awful. My back pain/sciatica nerve pain makes me cry. I have cystic acne and a ton of acne all over my face and back. I have never had acne this bad. The worst part... I have gained 30 pounds since starting this!! I am done. While I haven't had any migraines and haven't gotten pregnant... it's not worth my self-confidence that is making my depression and anxiety so much worse (I have had Mirena before and did fine with it. NuvaRing I got pregnant on. I have 2 kids, and I am 31.)"

For Birth Control "I started taking Slynd to help with my hormonal migraines. Transitioning to the medication, I got the worst migraine ever, but I haven’t had one since- in over a year. A downside is my acne has come back, which my other birth control took care of- but I highly recommend this medication to anyone who struggles with hormonal migraines- this is the only preventative that has worked for me."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I was put on Slynd birth control a year after having my third child. I had been on the mini pill due to nursing, and I asked my Dr. to change my medication due to breakthrough bleeding. I was wanting to go back on the combination pill I had been on for 20 years. I was given zero choice, other than sterilization for birth control, and was told she was putting me on this. I’m 43 and have had regular periods ever since I started getting them. However, on this medication, I spent the first 3 months with so much bleeding. I had no idea when it was going to start or stop. I have been on it now for 6 months, as my Dr. said to give your body a chance to get used to it. My last period lasted 12 days! I have had terrible acne like a teenager ever since having my last baby. My face is always broken out. This medicine is the worst! And now I have been told my insurance isn’t going to cover all of the cost. I would not recommend this and hoping my Dr. will change my medication."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I was prescribed Slynd to help my ovarian endometriosis. I am on month 4 at the moment and have been skipping the placebo pills as prescribed. I have experienced bleeding and brown spotting, which lasts for 3-4 weeks in a row (!) with only a 1-1.5 week break. Among other side effects are mood swings, depression, acne, and low sex drive. However, one of the endo cysts did diminish from 8 to 5 cm, so apparently that is thanks to the drug. The smaller cyst has stayed the same size so far."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I switched from Yasmin 7 months ago due to chronic yeast infections and low libido. So far, so good! Libido slightly improved, and I started having some sexual dreams again for the first time since starting the pill. No bleeding whatsoever, and mood, etc., has been fine. I have noticed more acne compared to Yasmin, which was super drying and gave me eczema, so I can manage with acne again."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I’m almost done with my 2nd pack of Slynd, so far, I haven’t seen any weight gain. I’m still the same. I had mild bleeding for one week (pinkish when I went to the bathroom) then what felt like a period for a few days after that week. Cramps aren’t as bad as they used to be, I don’t seem like my acne is any different-still a little breakout from PMS. Eating habits feel the same, no stomach pains. I do suffer from an STD and have had a few small and short-term outbreaks, but maybe it’s just from still getting used to the pill."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "Month 1 was amazing. Period was light and slightly shorter. I had some side effects (acne, headache), but that was to be expected. Month 2: Period came in the middle of the pack and lasted ~13 days. I decided to keep taking Slynd since it had only been two months. Month 3: Period came on week three, lasted ten days. I decided to skip the placebo pills because I didn’t want to bleed again and wanted to see if that would change anything. Month 4: Week 2 and I’m bleeding again. Meaning I only got one week of no blood so far for October. I’m not in control of my emotions. I’m angry all the time, crying. I don’t feel like myself at all. Peeing constantly. I’m tired and depressed and having brain fog, although I’m not attributing everything to Slynd. My boobs, back, and side hurt constantly. No weight gain, boobs may have gotten bigger?? I’m not comfy relying solely on condoms, so not sure what to do."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I just finished my first pack 2 days ago, and I'm waiting for my period, which looks like it's not going to happen anytime soon! I'm a petite PCOS sufferer, and I have been struggling with this monster for 14 years. I have been on so many different types of birth control, but all had ended horribly, and one caused cervix irritation, causing unstoppable bleeding! Since starting this pill, that non-stop breakthrough has ended. I also love the fact that it's Drospirenone, meaning that I don't have to worry about androgenic effects in my body. No weight gain, no acne, and my mood swings have improved a lot! I'll continue taking this pill. I'm just hoping that it doesn't completely stop my period, but it balances it, and we'll see..."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I love this Slynd pill! I am so lucky to have found a BC that is right for me and my body. I'm a bigger girl, so it is a good option versus a regular BC pill. I haven't had any side effects, the first few months I was spotting for like 2 weeks at a time, but now it's regulated, so I will skip spotting and bleeding for months at a time, and then just a small spotting here and there, and then back to nothing! No weight gain, no acne, and I think it has helped my PMS anxiety slightly as well."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "My experience has been decent. I had bad hormonal acne, and since taking Slynd continuously, it has started clearing a lot. However, before I decided to take it continuously, I was breaking out badly after the placebo pills. I haven’t had any breakthrough bleeding, even before I switched to continuous. Just my period before, and now not even that. My mood is definitely more stable, but I feel like I have slightly lower energy. I initially had lower sex drive, but my body adjusted, and now I’m back to normal. I have gained slight weight (5-7 lbs), but I’ve been eating worse and exercising less. I’m not sure if it’s the pill causing low energy and cravings or if it’s just my choices, hard to say. Either way, nothing drastic. Overall, it's much better than the original mini pill, which is awful, and I took that for years. I think, in more time to level out, it will continue to improve. I have a friend in the medical field who says you should really give your body a YEAR on a new pill to adjust."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "Been on this for almost 4 months, and so far it's been going great since the last one I was on ended up with me being brought to the ER. No cramps at all, no mood swings, I think I've even lost a few pounds. Did get a few pimples, but could be maskne (mask acne - thanks COVID). Only thing is, I don't really know when I have my period. It's more like spotting for a few days, but not enough for a tampon, which worries me a little, but not enough to switch because everything else has been great. Insurance does not cover Slynd, so it's 60 dollars a month for me, which seems absurd, and I do not know how much longer I can do that. It is new, that is why it's not covered by insurance yet, and I have Blue Cross."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "As someone who cannot take estrogen in my birth control due to having a history of migraine with aura (stroke risk), this has been the only estrogen-free birth control I’ve used with no side effects or breakthrough bleeding! Been on it for 4 months (it takes 2 months for any adjustment period). I only spotted VERY mildly 3 times on the 2nd week, and that was it - no side effects after that. No acne, increased hunger, or weight gain on Slynd either! PRO TIP: start Slynd on the first day of your period, this will drastically reduce the risk of breakthrough bleeding or spotting. This was recommended by my OBGYN NP, and I'm glad I took her advice as I didn’t know that. PRO TIP #2: most insurances don’t cover Slynd. You can get it affordably through a telehealth service like Nurx for $58 for a 3-month pack. I get a 3-month pack for $50 through a mail-in pharmacy that my OBGYN is partnered with, so ask your OBGYN too."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I was prescribed Slynd because I wasn’t a good candidate for an estrogen birth control. I have been on it for about 2 months, and it’s not terrible, but I’m switching birth controls anyway because of some negatives. First, let me list the positives: I haven’t experienced intense mood swings, if any at all, and no hair loss or cramps/nausea. However, here are the negatives I’ve experienced: my acne has progressively gotten worse, where my face just hurts, and I developed bad acne on my neck. I have also experienced light spotting the entire week before my period starts, however, it did make my period lighter."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I have endo, adenomyosis, migraine with aura, and a little bit high blood pressure, 46 years old. I took the pill because of my adenomyosis - not to have menstruation or at least lessen it until my menopause. First packet: acne, twice a week migraine with aura (horrendous!), much more drinking and peeing, some tiredness during the day, but also much better sleeping and better mood (more calm and focused). At the end of the first packet, migraine and acne stopped, and sleeping went a little bit worse (still better than before the pill). At the same time (4th week), before placebo bleeding started (first brown spotting, then regular bleeding) with some mild cramps and breast tenderness. Because of fear of migraines, I skipped placebos. Now I am at the end of the second packet and went to dark spotting again. I don't mind bleeding at all, but I am thinking about the sense of taking this pill if I bleed even more than before it. Won't my endo and adenomyosis get worse with that?"

Drospirenone for Birth Control "After trying so many combo birth control pills for years with bad experiences, I was scared to try Slynd. I'm so glad I gave it a try. I have endometriosis, so I have to take it continuously. Slynd works so well with me - no PMDD, no cramps, no bleeding, no acne, no bloating! I am losing weight too. My appetite is normal. I always drink plenty of water, so I'm never thirsty on Slynd either. It has uplifted my mood, and everything finally feels just right. I believe this is the birth control that fits me."

For Birth Control "I suffer from bad acne on my back, chest, and neck and have only had minimal acne on my face. I started taking Slinda Drospirenone in July 2022 to treat my acne. The first 2 months were fine, but around the 3rd month, the acne returned and progressively got worse. It affected my face, back, neck, and chest. My hair had thinned, and I was losing clumps of hair, not just a few strands. I have never had any symptoms of any kind when on contraceptives until now. Please do not take this if you do not want major acne, hair loss, migraines, and depression! I’ll be stopping this pill for good."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I have been on Slynd for three months and no period at all. I have increased acne, no weight change up or down, but I have been overly emotional and anxious. I went from having my period, like clockwork, with no side effects to a confusing mess. My NP prescribed this because I am 46 and had a high blood pressure reading in her office. She said my other pill could cause a stroke, so she wanted to switch me to Slynd. She said as a plus I would lose weight and not have acne. I am just really annoyed that I don't know when or if I am supposed to have a period and that I get unexplained sadness leading me to cry for no reason. I told my NP about the side effects, and she said just give it a little longer."

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I have been taking Slynd for the past two months. It may have helped me with my period and cramps, but it took a toll on my face! I broke out horribly! In areas I never knew I could get acne! I was going to wait until I finish this pack (which is in 4 days), but I can’t take it anymore! I’m very disappointed with this medication! I want my face to clear up again!!!"

Drospirenone for Birth Control "I've been taking Slynd for 5 months. I switched from a combination pill due to weight gain, migraines, and high blood pressure, which I had never had before taking birth control. I was prepared for a lot of bleeding, but I haven't had any bleeding. The only side effect I noticed was some acne around my bikini line, but I'll take that over other side effects. I haven't noticed any weight difference, and I don't get migraines anymore so far. I am really happy that I switched."
