For Birth Control "I've tried several different pills and the NuvaRing. I always had terrible side effects, including bloating, mood swings, and dryness. This pill has been great. I've been on it for about eight months now. The only side effect I had was weight loss. I went from about 128 to 118 in one month."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I first started with a low hormone pill called Azurette. I was having heavy periods that lasted for a week and terrible acne, so I decided to try Yaz, and my doctor prescribed me Gianvi. The first month, my face was completely clear, and my period used to last 3 days max, but my anxiety and mood changes got worse, and my sex drive went from 10 to zero because I was very dry. I also noticed my skin got really dry too, and I looked like a 60-year-old lady!"

For Birth Control "I took this pill for 3 years. I felt fine on it, but my triglycerides went from 120 the year prior to taking it to 226 the following year. The year after that, it was 230, and then last year it was 240. I tried to research reasons for triglycerides increasing and found that it could be birth control. I got tested this year after being off the pill for 18 months, and my triglycerides were 88. I have to say that I believe it was Gianvi. I'd keep an eye on this."

For Birth Control "I have been on Gianvi for 5 months. The first month, I had bad mood swings, but that went away. My period is lighter. I still have some PMS symptoms before my period. My moods have been better. The pill has cleared my skin. I have not gained any weight. I really like this birth control."

For Birth Control "I kept trying to figure out why I felt so much better this month and why I’ve finally been able to lose some weight and abdominal bloating. I follow a pretty healthy diet and work out hard, usually around 5 days a week and sometimes twice a day. Sadly, it never occurred to me it was my birth control! I’ve been taking Loryna for 3-4 years and will definitely NOT be taking that again. Previously, I was on Ocella and Yaz. I’ve been on Gianvi for almost a month and feel so much better. I’ve lost weight and definitely the bloat. I haven’t noticed any changes in my mood, and if anything, my sex drive is better."

For Acne "This is the first oral birth control I have tried, and I enjoy it. I have been on it for almost 3 months now. The first month I had some side effects: I had mild nausea, headaches, and super cravings for salty and sweet foods. I started taking this birth control to clear up my acne, I didn't see a difference until after the first pack. I notice a huge difference now, and my face is a lot more clear, but not all the way yet, but it takes time for your body to adjust. My periods have been lighter, and I don't get as bad of cramps. Recently, I have been feeling extra moody and tired, though, which I do not like, but I will wait it out and let my body adjust. Overall, I like it."

For Birth Control "I had been taking YAZ for the past two years, and my doctor decided to put me on Gianvi. I have been taking it for the past two months, and so far, everything is fine except the fact that I now have horrible acne. I never really had acne problems before taking Gianvi. I decided to wait out this next month to see if there will be any change, if not, then I will stop using it and try something else. I will write back at the end of the month for an update."

For Birth Control "I've been on Gianvi for about three months now. It's been amazing for my period, which was heavy, long, and always a miserable experience. I bled for a whole month when I first started taking it, but my doctor said that was normal... so I loved what it did for my period. What I did not love is that I am so hungry all the time on this pill, and although I haven't gone too overboard with eating, I've gained 10 pounds since starting the pill. It has done nothing to help my acne, it has made me lazy, and my mood swings are out of control... I'll become a sobbing mess out of nowhere."

For Acne "This is the first bc pill that prevented pregnancy and cleared up some mild adult acne without making me crazy. Every other form of Yaz or other bc pills I've been on had made me an emotional wreck with extreme moodiness. I am happy to report I have clear skin and a clear, happy mind as well."

For Birth Control "My gynecologist put me on Gianvi for my skin. I was so excited to have a pill that would focus mainly on my skin problem that I have been having for years. I didn't see any difference in the change of my skin. And the worst part was my mood swings. It caused major problems with my boyfriend and me fighting all the time and him seeing the change in me. It also made me feel super depressed all the time, with headaches almost every other day. After two months on this pill, I couldn't wait to switch. Now I'm on Generess Fe and couldn't be happier. Stay away!"

For Birth Control "I am so glad there are other reviews here. I thought I was losing my mental health. This pill has made me an absolute crazy person. I can't tell you the effects this has had on my life and my relationships (friends, work, boyfriend). I've been extremely depressed and have had bursts of rage and/or tears. I started to realize (in the midst of an emotional breakdown) that the way I was reacting to things was not normal. I finally connected the dots and realized it was because my pill changed to Gianvi 3 weeks ago. I've been on BC for 10 years, so I don't think it was just an adjustment. Also had really bad acne, but that was the least of my worries."

For Birth Control "Started taking this birth control the second week in August. After a week on the pill, I suffered an intense panic attack. Something that I had never experienced before, especially since nothing in my life had changed besides the birth control. Since then, symptoms of anxiety, crying, and depression have been on and off. My period still isn’t regular. After almost two months off this medication, I am just now feeling like myself again. Everyone is different and responds to medication differently. However, I would just be aware of these symptoms just in case."

For Acne "I've been using Gianvi for 7 months now, and my skin is clear. I didn't have acne before, but the usual breakouts here and there. I do get extremely irritable the last week of pills, but I guess that's expected. Other than that, no complaints besides the usual headaches, like twice a month."

For Birth Control "I've been taking the Gianvi birth control pill for the past 3-4 months and have experienced more good than bad. The first couple of things I've noticed that's different are my skin and period cycle. For one thing, it did what it was supposed to do and regulated my period. I used to get my period every other month during random days. It was irritating because I never knew when it would come. For my skin, it's improved a good amount, but I'm not someone who had bad skin to begin with. I noticed I stopped getting pimples altogether, and when I do, it's rare (I promise I have a bad skin routine too, so I was surprised.) I haven't gained weight and I didn't experience any decline in my mental health. The only thing that it didn't help with was my period cramps. My OBGYN told me this was supposed to help, but my cramps are just as sore. I also noticed that my periods are longer than when I wasn't on birth control. I used to only have my period for 5 days, but now it's the full 7 days."

For Birth Control "The first probably 5 months of this pill was awful. My skin got worse, I spotted, and I had bad anxiety. However, it's been two years now, and I have never been happier. I haven't had a bad pimple in MONTHS, and my acne completely cleared. We stopped using condoms and have been fine, no scares. My period is only 3 days and very light, plus it starts always on the hour! It's amazing. Plus, I lost about 10 pounds from 127 to 117 at 5.4'."

For Acne "Throughout puberty, I had always had mild blemishes. Usually, nothing too serious, occasionally cysts around the time of my menstrual cycle. However, I've always been very self-conscious about my skin, and I wanted a fix once and for all. I visited the dermatologist and was prescribed topical medications, but they didn't really do anything for the hormonal cysts. So finally, I went on Gianvi, and I am so glad I did. There was an initial breakout, and it was terrible, but after 4 or 5 months, there was evidently a drastic change. I no longer get any blemishes or cysts of any sort. I am a bit more emotional than I previously was, but the clarity and overall radiance of my skin is definitely worth it."

For Menstrual Disorders "I am not an emotional person, I rarely cry, and I am taking birth control mainly for menstrual cramps. While my cramps have subsided and my period is lighter and shorter, I have had extreme emotional swings and changes in appetite. I have experienced anxiety, and these conditions have worsened with each progressive month."

For Birth Control "I have been on three different birth controls, my first one was amazing, but they discontinued it! So I am now on Gianvi. It has been almost 5 months, and I have not stopped spotting for almost two months. It has put a huge damper on my sex life with my boyfriend. I also have noticed I am very dry, which was never an issue before this pill. I have much higher anxiety and really bad cravings as well. After reading all the reviews, I will be stopping this pill tomorrow!"

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I started Gianvi in March of last year and requested this brand specifically because a friend had told me how well it worked for them, and it is the generic for Yasmin, which is often used to treat PMDD. I was seriously suffering mentally and emotionally every month before starting Gianvi. Granted, I have battled depression/bipolar disorder for quite some time, but everything was so much darker right before my period. I was extremely irritable to the point where everything set me off and I'd get violent, I was crying uncontrollably, completely hopeless, suicidal, etc. In addition to this, I also suffered from pretty bad acne (I'd get large, painful, cystic-like pimples every month that would then often take months to go away). While I still do get acne (I've had it since my early teen years), I no longer get the kind of acne I had been, and it is much more manageable. I'm so glad I gave Gianvi a shot."

For Acne "I started this birth control for acne around my chin and jawline. It was mainly whiteheads and clogged pores. I would get about 2-3 breakouts a week. I’m on week 2 of this medication, and I’m definitely experiencing the WORST breakouts. Lots of cystic acne on my jaw and chin (like 8-10 spots). Legit embarrassing to go in public type of breakouts. I’m praying it’ll clear up in the next couple of weeks, but I’m absolutely one of those who is experiencing a worse before better (hopefully)."

For Birth Control "I got switched to Gianvi from Yaz a little over a month ago. For the past few weeks, I've been extremely emotional. I find myself almost in tears over the slightest things that normally I wouldn't even have noticed they were said. I'm suddenly very down, and it takes a lot of motivation to get myself moving. I've already got another brand for when this pack runs out."

For Birth Control "Be careful with this birth control if you have a history of anxiety or mood disorder. I had a history of major depression (episodic) and read warnings with this medication, was skeptical of it but decided to try. I kept a journal of my moods for the 9 days that I took Gianvi. I believe it started to make me depressed. Not sure if this was the effect of switching to new birth control (I was on Trinessa for 9 years before it was discontinued) but I believe it was the medication itself. I was very obsessive over minute things at work and in my relationship, irritable and impatient to the point that I was cruel to my BF, and started to have feelings of hopelessness when I was by myself. Two days after I stopped taking it, it was like a cloud was lifted from over me. Be cautious, it was not good for my mental health."

For Birth Control "This is my third and final update - good news! - just make it through the first pack and a half! My body completely acclimated after that, and I feel totally normal again. After getting back into a regular workout routine again, the pills' emotional and physical effects gradually lessened. I do still have some breast sensitivity, light bloating, and, as of recently, a lower sex drive, but I'm not the raging, depressed, lethargic mess I was a month ago, lol. My advice - the first month and some is going to suck; I felt physically and emotionally so out of whack, I wanted to give up 3-5 times a week, but GIVE IT TIME. Give your body a solid month and a half to adjust and then make the decision to stick with it or move on."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I switched onto Gianvi after taking Loryna for several years. Gianvi is the generic for Loryna. The effects aren’t much different, and both have been helpful for my PMDD and my period in general. My cramps decreased in frequency (though not in intensity), and my period is long but less severe than it might be without the pill. Psychologically speaking, I feel a little better all through my cycle, and my mood and behavior are a lot more stable when my period comes close."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I was on Nikki for about 4 months for PMDD. According to my doc, it should've been working by the 3-4 month range. And while it took my period away (yet added spotting) and lowered some symptoms, it really only took away any predictability of my cycle. Instead of knowing exactly when to expect my downturn, I would wake up each day wondering if it would be a good day or a bad day filled with thoughts of suicide, nausea, and panic attacks. When my 4 packs of Nikki were done, I requested Gianvi. I've only been on it a week, but I've noticed significant improvement. My breasts are still VERY tender/swollen, and my acne's still flaring, but I've actually been able to play with my daughter and enjoy it. I've been able to handle my high-anxiety dog without losing my mind. It's not perfect, but to not have the Jekyll/Hyde complex that is PMDD, even for just a week, has been amazing. I definitely intend on continuing with Gianvi for a while. Hopefully it continues improving my quality of life."
