"I started having bad stomach pains all over my abdomen. Some dull. Some were sharp. I felt my stomach gurgling, and spasms and cramping. It got to the point I went to the ER. They gave me Bentyl, which saved me. It made my life bearable, and after a week of lifestyle changes, my pain was gone. I love Bentyl."

"I just started taking this medicine today because every other medicine I've been on hasn't worked, and I've been so sick with stomach pains and running to the bathroom. My doctor said to take 1 or 2. I took 2 at lunch, does that mean I should take 2 at dinner as well? I can't take the stomach pains anymore. Do you guys think this will help? Thanks."

"Bentyl works okay for me, but not enough for me to take it on a regular basis. I suffer from alternating IBS-C and IBS-D, so it doesn't seem to stop diarrhea or relieve constipation. However, it works pretty well for abdominal cramping. I also have endometriosis that is causing the IBS-like symptoms, so even though I also have an IBS diagnosis, it's not the main issue. That could be part of the reason Bentyl only works on the abdominal cramps for me. Definitely worth a go, though, as I didn't have any bad side effects."

"I have had IBS-D my entire life. I lived with it. Then, 2 months ago, I had some stomach surgery, and that’s when the fun began. I have dumping syndrome, and it is severe. I found Bentyl, and my doctor prescribed the full dose, 20 mg x 4 a day. It took a week or so to start working, and to my surprise, it not only helps."

"I do take Bentyl on occasion for IBS, but wondering if anyone with the Eustachian Tube problem is seeing any relief with Bentyl. My ears are driving me crazy. I did have a huge weight loss several years ago, and my NET seems to think this created my ear problem. Weight gain seems to be my only option at this point, but I am comfortable at my current weight. Anybody else having the echo/roaring problem?"

"Have taken for 3 years. Family history of IBS. I take three 20 mg tablets per day. I sometimes have slight euphoria when taking one tablet. I also have slight back and neck pain issues. One tablet helps a great deal, for some reason. The only thing I have experienced is dry mouth. I drink a lot of water and coffee, seltzer water, etc., or use sugar-free cough drops, Ricola SF. Helps with dry mouth."

"I went to the E.R. with a severe case of food poisoning. After hours of fluids, IVs, and various drugs, they were able to get it to stop. I filled my prescription for Bentyl the next day, 20 mg two times a day. After about 45 minutes, I started getting bad cramps and the worst diarrhea ever. I do not recommend this to anyone."

"I have been on Bentyl since 1986. I take 20 mg 4 times a day. I have had IBS-D since the age of 15. I was diagnosed because I passed out from the pain, it was so severe. I had problems for years before I was diagnosed. It works so well that I am still on it. It does cause severe dry mouth and blurred vision, though the benefits are well worth these side effects. I would rate the effectiveness of this medication a 10/10."

"Took me several trips back to the ER for fluids with vitamins, to help flush this awful stuff out! Had bad side effects for a month!!! Bad!!! Never take unless you love being weak and no energy along with massive diarrhea and no appetite, and love dehydration."

"This medication has been huge for me. I don't run to the restroom as often. My pain is way better. The only side effects I have are dry mouth, loss of appetite, and blurry vision."

"I was prescribed this after gastric sleeve surgery for stomach cramps that I was told would happen. It's been a lifesaver. The first month I took it religiously as prescribed because the pain was the worst. Now I take it as needed (per my Dr), and it helps so much even with an upset stomach. It does make me a little tired but not enough to make me want to go to sleep for hours. I keep it with me at all times in case my stomach acts up."
