For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "This is the only thing that has given me relief from intense cramping, that turns into nausea and vomiting when bad. I have suffered from horrible IBS symptoms since I was 18. I am 38. Had my gallbladder removed, several colonoscopies and endoscopies, and every possible procedure related to IBS known to man. None of my previous GIs had ever tried this medication. When I suggested a medicine I had heard of, my doctor suggested 10 mg of Desipramine. Within four days, my cramping has stopped completely, I am having comfortable bowel movements, and relief I haven't had since I was a teenager. If you are suffering and nothing else has helped, and you haven't tried this before, ask your physician if it could work for you, it is working wonders for me, and I have only been taking it a week!"

"Desipramine helps with this weird facial pain... and at just a low dose of 20-30 mg. Valium, also for neuropathic pain, calms breakthrough shocks within 30 minutes. I'd been taking desipramine for several years - the one made by Actavis when the pharmacy switched to desipramine from Amneal Pharma. Amneal's did absolutely nothing for my neuropathic pain. So I changed to a pharmacy that could order the Actavis desipramine that's helpful."

"I was given desipramine for headaches by my former PCP, and it didn't do anything except put me in a dark place mentally. I swore that I would never take anti-depressants again until my current PCP put me on a low dose of Lexapro, which is a tremendous help. I was also put on amitriptyline by my former PCP and had horrible hallucinations. He didn't tell me what these two drugs were for."

For Depression "The first antidepressant, along with Lamictal, that I've tried in 25 years for my bipolar 1, that actually is an antidepressant. I think that sums up my experience."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "Desipramine did initially lessen the severity of my abdominal pain, but it also caused such severe constipation and slowing of the digestive tract that I had to go to the ER multiple times. I have no idea when I’ll recover and be able to eat again."
